How to Measure for Surco # SP502L RV Ladder

i need the correct way to measure for the 84inch surco ladder

The height listed for the RV ladders we offer doesn't include the height of the return, or the 'hook' portion at the top of the ladder. In the case of the # SP502L RV Ladder, the overall height is 84-1/2-inches and from mounting surface to mounting surface the dimension is 76-1/2-inches. When the 8 inch height of the return is added, the full height of the ladder is 92-1/2 inches.

So, if you'd measure down from the RV roof by 84-1/2 inches, you know where bottom of the ladder would sit.
