Recommended Suspension Enhancement System For 2016 Ram 1500

Updated 03/03/2016 | Published 03/02/2016

Question:

I have a 2016 Ram 1500 Crew cab that has a constant load of about 1300 pounds. I am wondering which product will work best for my needs? The Sumosprings SSR-307-47 or the Timbren TDR1500DQ? The Sumosprings appears to be longer overall so I am wondering if that would be my best fit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Both of the suspension enhancement systems you mentioned will work great for your 2016 Ram 1500.

The Timbren, part # TDR1500DQ is the system I recommend. Since this installs directly into the cup that the OEM bump stop was installed in, the installation is a very quick and easy job. The OEM bump stop on a typical suspension may have 3 inches of clearance. After installing the Timbrens, you will have about 1 to 1-1/2 inches of clearance from the bottom of the rubber spring to the plate on the axle. If you find you have a bigger gap you can use a spacer like part # A25723-90AH00. You can check out the reviews from many of our customers and find an overwhelming approval of this system on their vehicles.

The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs, part # SSR-307-47, will also work great on your truck. The installation is different that the Timbrens. It uses a plate system that clamps around the bump stop housing on your truck. This may take just a bit longer to install than the Timbren system but will work well for you as well. The SumoSprings when installed will have a gap similar to the Timbrens.

Since the Timbrens have a much higher capacity at 8,600 lbs versus the 1,500 lbs for the SumoSprings, I would go with the Timbren system.
