Firestone Ride-Rite Suspension Enhancement for 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

Published 01/22/2016

Question:

Hi , is it not recommended to put air bags in a Ram 1500? I got a Firestone set from you for my 3/4 ton Ram with fantastic results, but its a 2WD. Now, in the winter, I need my 1/2 ton to pinch hit to haul water. But the air bags disappear when I put in my vehicle parameters on your website. If I shouldnt, I wont. Ill just tow water. Thanks

You can certainly add Firestone Ride-Rite Airbags to your 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The correct set of airbags for your truck will depend on if your 1500 is a Mega Cab or not.

If your 1500 is a Mega Cab, you will want to use the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2299.

If your 1500 is not a Mega Cab, you will want the Firestone Ride-Rite # F2286.

Both of these springs have a capacity of 5,000 pounds and will not require drilling for installation. I have attached installation videos of both of these air bag kits on similar 1500s to yours for you.

If you have a non-Mega Cab for the # F2286 air bags and you also have a gooseneck hitch installed on your truck, it is important to note that the upper frame bracket on the # F2286 kit will stick up on the outside of the frame. This means that the airbag brackets could contact the gooseneck's brackets. If you are concerned about this, feel free to send me a photo or tell me which gooseneck hitch you have and I will be happy to determine if the brackets will contact each other.

The # F2299 brackets will not interfere with a gooseneck since they install on the inside of the frame rail.
