I am getting a base model 2017 Ford Explorer 4x4 and would like to add some helper springs to the back. What do you recommend?

For your 2017 Ford Explorer 4x4 I recommend the Timbren helper springs # TFRFLX. With this system once it is installed there is no maintenance you have to perform and the ride quality will be improved when loaded or unloaded.
If you want to go with air bags and have rear coil springs I recommend the Air Lift system, # AL60821.
