Question:
I recently purchased a 16 ft. gooseneck trailer for hauling cattle and horses. The very max I would haul is 10000 #. I have a 2004 F-250, 4x4, Super Cab with an 8 ft. bed, diesel engine. What would be the best overall hitch for me to haul this trailer. Safety is first, cost is second, Do you recommend electric brakes as the trailer is equipped with that. It would be nice to hide everything under the bed but not absoutely necessary. I might do the installation myself. Im somewhat mechanically inclined.Any suggestions or must dos.

For a gooseneck hitch, I'd recommend the B&W Turnover Ball, part # BWGNRK1108, which includes the hitch and the install rails. This hitch is actually capable of towing 30,000 lbs, which should more than fulfill your wish for maximum safety. For the installation instructions and an install video, click the provided links.
Since the trailer is equipped with trailer brakes, you'll need a brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885 to actuate them. If your truck is equipped with the factory 7 pin trailer connector, all you'll need to install the brake controller is the # 3035-P brake controller wiring adapter. If you have the 4-pole trailer connector, you'd need to use a 4-pole to 7-way adapter, part # 37185.
