Question:
Our Troop trailer needs to have the safety chains replaced. The current chains are attached by a metal ring thats welded to the trailer frame. The trailer is 16foot long and has two axles. The current chains are about 2 1/2 feet long. Im looking for a way to attach new chains to the trailer without having to take it to a trailer shop to have them welded on. Do you have any suggestions? The connector and chains need to be strong enough for a trailer that size. I saw this item and thought it would be good to attach the chain to the trailer, but was confused since the description says 16,500 lbs, but the picture shows 3,300 lbs stamped onto the link. 49135 Thanks,

The quick link part # C82932 that you referenced has a 16.5k capacity as it's max capacity and a 3,300 working load limit. The working load limit would be if the chains was to see that capacity at all times.
For a set of chains then to go with that you could use the part # 1483-535-04. These have a 5,400 lb working load limit.
