In this situation, most folks either replace the safety chains, using a hook that will fit. Another option would be to use a quick link, like # C82932. Attach the quick link to the safety chain hole in the hitch, then attach the safety chain hook to the quick link. You'll want to choose chains or links with a capacity equal to or greater than the weight of your trailer.
