How Tight Does Handle Need to Be on Reese Friction Sway Control Bar

Question:
I bought a reese friction sway bar, how tight does the bar need to be. when following directions and they say to tighten adjustment lever to bottom out the threads the sway bar does not slide by hand at all. Does it need to slide by hand at all?

You may or may not be able to slide it by hand. But the trailer is going to apply much more force than you could by hand. What I recommend is to tighten the handle some and do a series of test runs and adjust the tightness as needed until you find the setting that works best for you. I would not start with it as tight as it will go at first.
