Question:

I just purchased a used 2012 Lexus RX450h. I am looking for a tow hitch and wiring harness. I see some of your products depend on if we have the tow package? Im not sure what that is or if I have it. How do I find this out? If I send you the VIN could you determine this?

A Lexus dealer should be able to tell you how the vehicle's equipped if you provided them with the VIN. You can also determine this for yourself using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 on the trailer wiring connector located behind the bumper under the driver's side of the vehicle at the rear (see provided photo). Have a helper activate each turn signal function as you probe the pins in the connector under the vehicle. If the plug is active, all you'll need is the # 118252. If it's not active, you'll need the # C56217 which includes the converter as well as the wiring harness.

For a hitch, I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Class III trailer hitch, part # 75676, due to its lower price and its slightly easier installation than the Curt.

You'll also need a ball mount like part # C45030 and a 1-7/8 inch trailer ball # 19260 or a 2 inch ball like part # 63845. For a standard pin use # PC3 for a locking hitch pin, use part # e98882.
