Mounting Options for Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch 13703

Question:

Cab the 13703 be mounted on the outboard side of a 72 in I beam frame? and are the 2 bolts in the frame flange necessary as I would consider mounting the hitch flanges one in above the frame flange.

I have spoken to Curt about alternate installations of trailer hitch # 13703 and they say not to attach the brackets on the outboard sides of the frame rails. Otherwise the hitch is very versatile. It can be bolted or welded on so you do not have to use the bolt holes. If you choose to have the hitch welded on the welding should be done by a qualified professional welder. I have included links to the instructions and a video showing an example installation.
