Question:
I know you guys have answered these questions before and have looked at many posts but still havent found a definitive answer. I am not interested in adding more wiring to my trailer. So, to power lights on my 14 ft trailer with brakes without the use of my truck I know that there are many options. Why cant I just use a battery or jump box and alligator clips as shown below?

Expert Reply:
If you need to power the lights while not towing the trailer then you could use a separate battery if that works for you. You will want to keep an eye on that battery and hook it up to a charger, such as # CTEK56353, when you can. You don't want to be stuck with a dead battery when you need it!
