Why Doesnt the Curt Pintle Hook Mounting Plate # C48348 Want to Fit Ford 2-1/2 inch Hitch

Why wont the hitch fit into my 2 1/2inch receiver? I have a 2013 Ford Super Duty. It slides in about 1 1/2inch then gets stuck.

The factory Ford 2-1/2 inch receiver has a unique corner radius that doesn't match up to anything well. You can try using a grinder to remove some of the powder coat of the Curt Pintle Hook Mounting Plate # C48348 to see if that would be enough to allow it to install. I can't recommend you remove any of the metal though as that would void the warranty.
We have found that Ford 2-1/2 inch hitch vary from vehicle to vehicle as to whether or not 2-1/2 inch accessories will fit them. Some of them have no problems and others do not want to work with anything.
