Question:

will this unit fit on 2006 liberty RENEGADE model? These Jeeps have skid shields/rock gaurds around gas tank. Ive aleady purchased another manufactors model and it will not fit around rock gaurd, so I want to be double sure that this will work before I order. note: I am referring to a skid plate around the gas tank NOT a heat shield that is on the regular Jeeps. Thanks

The Curt Trailer Hitch for the 2006 Jeep Liberty, # 13044, will fit on your 2006 Jeep Liberty Renegade with the fuel tank skid shield.

The fuel tank skid shield will need to be temporarily removed or loosened for installation. The tow hooks do have to be removed. Our notes on that hitch showed those instructions, but I also called our supplier (Curt) and they did verify those notes.

I am sending a video link of this hitch being put on a Jeep Liberty with the skid shield and it will show in detail the skid shield being removed and installed with the hitch.

With the Curt Hitch, # 13044, you will also need the Curt Ball Mount, # C45030, and the Pin and Clip, # PC3. The hitch ball you would need would depend on what size coupler you will be using. If it is 1-7/8 inch coupler, you need Tow Ready Hitch Ball with 1-7/8 inch Diameter, # 19260, and if it is 2 inch coupler then you need Tow Ready Hitch Ball with 2 inch Diameter, # 19247.

The wiring harness for the Jeep Liberty would be Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118524.
