Today we are going to install part number 13044 from Curt, and we are going to install this Class III receiver hitch on a 2006 Jeep Liberty. We will show you where the hitch mounts up. It is going to mount up along three holes in the frame here, here and here. And this has a skid shield in place. Your vehicle may not have the skid shield, so it is going to have the empty three holes. And it is going to be the same thing on the other side. In this case, this actually comes down with a recovery hook that is in place. This whole piece and assembly will actually have to come down and stay off when the hitch is installed. Again, there are three bolts on each side behind this hook, too, just like on the passengers side.
All right, just to show you, we have the hitch in position with the heat shield, to give you an idea of what is going on. And we are going to take this one whole assembly and install it on the vehicle. Now we did have to flex this bar in Im sorry, we had to flex in this part of the plate to get enough clearance to line up our holes so we could get a bolt through. You may have to do that, you may not its just individual to each vehicle. With the bolts snugged down, go ahead and tighten them down to their proper torque, as specified in the instructions. And with that, that finishes our install of part number 13044 on our 2006 Jeep Liberty.
