Question:
I am comparing two products: 1. Curt Trailer Hitch for the 2015 Forester - C13144 2. Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for the 2015 Forester - 75876 Even thou both products show that drilling is not required, Curts hitch requires access hole enlargement according to the video. I wonder if Curts hitch could be installed using already existing access hole a couple of inches away from mounting points? Could you provide sizes of bolt head and support plate for both products? Thanks.

Both of the hitches, Curt Hitch part # C13144 and Draw-Tite part # 75876, are Class lll hitches and both have 2 inch receiver openings. Both hitches have identical weight capacity.
When installing these hitches, per the instructions both require opening the hole in the frame to 1-1/8 inches to allow for the installation hardware. The 1-1/8 inch hole allows the bolt head to pass through so that it can be used inside the Forester frame. The spacer block that is used when installing the hitch measures .250 x 1.00 x 2.50 inches. I have attached both of the hitch installation instructions you can check out.
If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
