Question:

I previously had 2012 GMC Terrain with a roadmaster 523163-1. I know longer have the Terrain but now have a 2010 equinox. will my 523163-1 base plate fit my 2010 equinox?

Roadmaster base plates # 523163-1 are only listed as a fit for the 2010 to 2015 GMC Terrain but not the Equinox.

For the 2010 Chevy Equinox you can use Roadmaster base plates # RM-523160-4. I assume that since you previously flat towed the Terrain that you have a tow bar and safety cables but I will make some recommendations just in case you need those items as well.

The most popular compatible tow bar is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. You can also use coiled safety cables # RM-643.

For a lighting solution you can use 4-diode kit # RM-154. It looks like a fuse has to be pulled to flat tow the Equinox. To make this process as easy as flipping a switch you can use fuse bypass # RM76511.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Even Brake proportional system # RM-9400. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the RV is braking. This is the easiest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

You will also need 12 volt outlet kit # RM-9332 and stop light switch kit # RM-751439 for the braking system to work properly.
