Can DeeZee Tailgate-Lowering System # DZ43203 Be Removed for 5th Wheel Towing

Question:
DeeZee Tailgate assist lowering system for 2015 Ford Super Duty F350. Can the piston be removed when I remove the tailgate for my in-bed truck camper, then re-attached? Thanks
