Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Pro Grip retractable tie down anchors for truck bed stake pockets. The heavy duty anchor rings provide accessible tie down points for securing your load, or for securing your gear in your truck bed. This product has nice universal design to it. It is designed to fit most truck bed stake pockets, and it's retractable. When you're done using it you just push it down, it lays flat. When you're ready to use it you just pull it up, it snaps into place and it provides that nice tie down point.
The base is made from a durable plastic construction. The actual tie down ring is stainless steel. It has a ring diameter of 5/16 of an inch and it's an easy no drill installation. The anchor's simply fit into your truck bed stake pockets.What you'll need to do is you'll need to loosen it up to where it's positioned like this. You drop this portion into the stake pocket and then you lift up on the ring.
What that does is it brings this lower portion here, which is the clamp, brings it up kind of inside that bedrail area. Then you install the hardware, and then you just use a Phillips head screwdriver to tighten down the screws. There's no need to over tighten, you just want to get it hand tight. Once you have those tight, that's really all there is to it. It's a nice quick install.
It's very easy to use, very easy to install, very easy to operate. With this part number you get two tie down anchors.The anchor opening side to side measured 7/8 of an inch, bottom to top, that opening right there, is 1 inch. The base itself . I took a measurement from edge to edge going this direction and that measured about 3 3/8 inches to 3 1/2 inches, right in that ballpark. Edge to edge this direction is 2 1/4 inches.
When it's installed, the only portion that's going to be visible is this right there. It's a nice low profile design. Again, when you're ready to use it you grab the ring, pull it up until it snaps into place and you have your tie down point. These also have a weight capacity of 1,000 pounds. That's going to do it for today's look at the Pro Grip retractable tie down anchors for truck bed stake pockets.
Let me start by saying eTrailer is an awesome company to deal with. Read my full review before you buy. First, unless you have factory or after market bed rail caps - these do not work. They do not clamp fully on plain metal bed rails. Second, the plastic is low quality and thin. Third, the screws are aluminum and will strip easily. Last - the video says they are made out of stainless steel - and maybe the D Ring itself is - but nothing else. Oh, and the “spring loaded design” leads you to believe these pop up and down - which they technically do - but there is no “spring” and you need something to pry them up most of the time, especially in cold weather. It would be better described as a friction fit ring. These looked good online but there is no way these support 1000 pounds whether that means each or all four combined. I will be returning these for a refund. Very disappointed. Buyer beware. Despite all this, etrailer is still awesome to deal with.

The truck TIE DOWNS I purchased at ETRAILER are made extremely well and are used often. As you can see by my photos, they are a perfect fit and are very handy to have. Obviously, if I need to use the front TIE DOWNS, I would have to remove my tonneau, but that is a very easy task and well worth the small effort. Install was easy. I like how they retract. But the top plates cracked and the entire fixture fell into the bed pocket. I was strapping a canoe and side loading the hook some but I would have expected it to be stronger.

I installed two of these on my 2012 Ram 2500, in the front pockets. The fit was a little loose but I finally got them secured. I have not really used them. It seemed like a good idea for tying in kayaks but did not really use them. So cannot really evaluate their function.

I have used these several times. Tied a tarp over the truck for winter storage. tied down a water jug and a gas can for travel. They stayed in place and have not come loose.
Installation was easy. Be sure to have a big Phillips head screwdriver. An average sized one will just rattle around in the big holes on the tops of the screws. I think I used my PH3 bit.

Perfect! Very reliable tie down point. I’ve hauled many loads since installing these and I couldn’t be happier!
I ordered several things from etrailer 2Axle hanging kit + u bolts and 4 pro grip retractable anchors. Every single thing inside of the box was well packed delivery was outstanding and the parts are solid. The anchor points fits perfectly on the pocket holes on my 2013 F-150, super easy to install and they are more convenient than the anchor points that came with the truck and sits at the bottom of the bed. I will recommend any of you to buy from etrailer they have great customer service, if you need to buy parts for a trailer I would say that this is the place to go!
These tie-downs do an adequate job securing light to medium loads. They cannot take a lot of horizonal load force since the insert is only plastic and it will crack and break with too much cinching down force. Even with the plastic being broken, they are still functional.
Found these pro grip retractable tie down to fit my Ram 3500 perfectly. Priced right and will buy a couple more for a friend. Shipping was pn time as promised.
They worked as expected but the quality is a lot better than the last ones I had. They were more stable with heavier load tension and didn't display any play or movement as to coming loose or breaking free. So far a very good product.
Really impressed! Both service and product is great. Just installed them. Easy to install. Just need a cross tipped screwdriver (Phillips). Some many times you get a product and it is difficult to install, this product is easy to install. Maybe 15 minutes for all four. This is 2nd time I have ordered from etrailer. These tie down hooks are just what i was looking for. The directions seem a little vague, like it should list to totally back off screws to let the unit down into the pocket. After a little trial and error i was able to get them installed. Other than that it is a good product .

The weight rating for these are 1000lbs combined. The rings are stainless steel. The plastic is meant to be corrosion resistant but is still connected via the metal plates for durability. These fit with or without bed rail caps and should not be loose. Your 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup is listed to fit and the hole is the same size whether or not there are bed rail caps. I would tighten the anchor point very tightly.
