Disc Brake Kit Recommendation for a Boat Trailer that Launches in Saltwater

Published 04/10/2015

Question:

I have an EZ Loader trailer with elec. drum brakes that I want to convert to disc brakes. Can you suggest a complete kit so I can see the cost involved. Its a tandem 3500lb. axle used in saltwater. I know I will need to check my bearings for proper fit, just trying to get a cost right now.

Since you plan to use your trailer in saltwater I would highly recommend a stainless steel kit to prevent rust. For a stainless kit for one wheel assembly you would want the # K1HR35S for example. This comes with just one brake assembly. If you have one brake axle you would need to order a quantity of two of these. If you plan to put brakes on both of your axles you would need a quantity of 4 of these.

You bearings would need to be inner L68149 and outer L44649 from your current hubs and you wheel bolt pattern would need to be 5 on 4-1/2 inch.
