Installing Agility Brake Control HM47635 on 2010 Nissan Pathfinder with a Factory Harness

Updated 04/01/2010 | Published 03/31/2010

Question:

I am installing a Agility Brake Control on my new 2010 Nissan Pathfinder but am not sure about matching the different colored wires for the wiring harness, which I purchased from Nissan, and the controller. The Agility Brake Control has four colored wires, one black, one white, one red, and one blue. The Nissan wiring harness or jumper has five wires. A sticker attached to the wires on the wiring harness has very limited information as to the color and function of each wire. There are three columns on the sticker for each wire: NO COLOR FUNCTION TA10 R / G BRK SIG TAE2 B GND TA01 BR / W BRK OUT TA12 R / L ILL TA11 R FUSED B+ Following is the color coding I interpret from this information on the wiring harness: TA10 R / G is the small red wire with a green stripe that splices to the blue controller wire TAE2 B is the black wire that splices to the white controller wire TA01 BR / W is the brown wire with a white stripe that splices to the red controller wire TA12 R / L this is a small red wire with a stripe that I cant determine the color or the function of the wire TA11 R is the red wire that splices to the black controller wire As I understand it, the wires for the controller are matched to the wires for the harness or jumper and spliced together, then the harness simply plugs into the mating plug located under the dash near the steering column. No other wiring or splicing is required. I installed a brake controller in my 2000 Dodge Durango when it was new without any problems. As I recall, there was no difficulty determining the color or function of each wire and there were only four wires for the controller and four wires for the wiring harness. That was ten years ago when I had better eyesight and could more easily determine colors. Thank you for your help.

From the Nissan description of the wire functions on the harness, it looks like you are on the right track as far as the description, but we will want to change a few of the connections that you mentioned.

On Nissan models, the red with light blue tracer would be an illumination wire, and would actually not be used in your brake controller installation. You can just tie up this wire.

You also have the electric brake and stop light wires switched. The red wire with a green tracer is going to be connected to the red wire of the controller, while the brown wire with a white tracer will be connected to the blue wire on the controller.

Just to confirm, your connections to the # HM47635 brake controller would be as follows.

Red/Green tracer: Connected to the red stop light wire.
Black: Connected to the white ground wire.
Brown/White tracer: Connected to the blue electric wire.
Red: Connected to the black power lead wire.

I have included a link to some more brake controller information, if needed.

If you would prefer to avoid splicing altogether, I recommend picking up the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Wiring Adapter, # HM47635. This adapter has one end that will plug into the brake controller and the other end will plug into the brake controller port on your Pathfinder.
