Question:

hi i saw a posting regarding this but wanted to confirm before i order. my 2007 fj has the 4pin already installed, so with the prodigy p3 and ETBC7 be all i need to integrate it? i saw there might be some kind of adapter for the controller. thanks!

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, part # 90195 will work well with your 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Since there is no plug-in for the brake controller under the dash on your vehicle you will need to hardwire the brake controller. I have attached an installation video that shows how the wiring is done you can take a look at.

You will need a 7-way connector at the back. for this I recommend part # ETBC7. The 4 pole connector on this kit will connect to the 4 pole on your FJ cruiser, then you will have to connect the four loose wires. The white wire is a ground and needs to be connected to a clean bare metal surface on the vehicle frame. The black wire is a 12 V power source and you will need to connect it to your car battery with the 40 amp circuit breaker in-line. The purple wire is optional and can be capped if not used. It can be used for 1 of 3 different purposes. One is to be used as an additional 12V power source. The second is as a reverse light wire if the trailer is equipped with reverse lights, and the third is as a reverse lockout to keep trailer brakes from engaging while in reverse.
