Thule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT platform-style rack is specifically designed to reduce the burden of transporting e-bikes, free-ride bikes, downhill MTBs, and other heavy bikes. It includes a ramp that lets you easily roll your bikes on and off the rack without lifting. The rack folds up for compact storage and has an integrated handle and wheels that make it easy to roll to and from your vehicle. It has independently adjustable arms with padded clamps that grip your bikes by the frames. You can tilt the rack with bikes loaded for access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. It also includes locks that secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Folding Ramp

Thule EasyFold XT

A folding, aluminum ramp is included so you can roll your bikes on and off the rack- no heavy lifting required. The ramp extends 36" to create an angle small enough that you can roll your bikes up and down it with ease. There is also an extra-long, 53" ramp (sold separately) available for use when your EasyFold XT is installed on an SUV, van or other tall vehicle.

Thule EasyFold XT

The ramp fits into grooves at the end of each wheel tray.

Thule EasyFold XT

When you aren't using the ramp you can fold it up and store it onboard the rack.

Folds for Easy Transport and Compact Storage

Thule EasyFold XTThule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT folds for easy transport and compact storage. The wheel tray folds in half and there is a small lever under the base of the rack that lets you fold up the shank.

Thule EasyFold XT

It has an integrated handle and wheels that make the rack easy to roll to and from your vehicle.

Adjustable Arms with Frame Clamps

Thule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT's dual arms are detachable so you can reposition them anywhere along the upright tube to fit bikes of any frame style.

Thule EasyFold XT

Clamps with built-in Road Dampening Technology (RDT) pads grab your bikes by the top tubes or downtubes to ensure safe transport with minimal movement and noise. The clamps can be rotated to grab bike frames with angled downtubes. The clamps include AcuTight knobs that click when they are tight around your bike frames. This prevents you from damaging your bike by over-tightening the knobs.

Sturdy, Molded Wheel Trays

Thule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT's molded wheel trays can carry e-bikes, downhill MTBs, and most other heavy bikes. The top half of the wheel trays are made of durable, weather-resistant ABS plastic. The anodized aluminum bottom half provides a rigid outer shell without adding much weight to the rack.

Thule EasyFold XT

Ratcheting wheel straps with quick-release levers let you secure your bike's wheels to the tray. An adapter kit (sold separately) converts the wheel cradle sets for use with your fat bike tires.

Tilting Design

Thule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT tilts forward with bikes loaded for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. To tilt the rack, just press the handle at the front of the wheel tray. To return it to the upright position, push the rack back toward the base until it locks into position with an audible click.

Tool-Free Installation

Thule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT installs quickly and easily with the AutoAttach system. Simply open the SnugTite hitch pin, slide the shank into your receiver, and close the pin so it slides through the pin hole and shank. Once installed, turn the knob to deploy an anti-rattle wedge in the shank. This helps take play out of the hitch connection.

Complete Security for Bikes and Rack

Thule EasyFold XT

The EasyFold XT includes One-Key System locks to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. Locks on each frame clamp knob secure your bikes to the rack.

Thule EasyFold XT

The lock on the hand knob secures the rack to your vehicle. The hand knob will spin freely when locked so a would-be thief can't operate the knob to remove the rack from your hitch. The locks are keyed alike so you can use the same keys for all of the locks. Additional One-Key System locks (sold separately) let you make all of your Thule products keyed alike.

Hitch Compatibility

Thule Apex XT 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack 1-1/4

The rack works with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. To use it in a 1-1/4" hitch, simply remove the adapter with the included Allen key.

Easy to put together and put on my car. The ramp works great to get my e-bike up on the rack. Very solid with no shaking when driving.

We wanted a quality rack we could be confident in using to transport our e-bikes. This Thule EasyFold rack is strong enough to safely and securely carry our two Euphree e-bikes. These are the features we especially appreciate:
1. Attachable ramps to assist us in walking the bikes up into place when using our truck which is taller than our SUV.
2. The rack has integral locks: The rack locks to the hitch, and our bikes lock in place on the rack.
3. The rack folds up nicely on the hitch when we are parked and away riding.
4. The unit folds up sort of like a suitcase to roll & stow in the garage when riding season is over.

When we are parked with our Thule EasyFold, people often comment on it and ask what kind it is. It's a bit pricier than some other racks, but definitely worth it to help protect our e-bike investments. E-Trailer shipped ours promptly and it arrived in perfect condition. After a year of use, we still love this bike rack, and have no complaints!

The BEST bike carrier by far!! We are both in our 7th decade and even I alone (5’2” 120 lbs) can manage to attach this in my hitch without any issues. It’s so easy to load both our hybrid and e-bike and they are super secure. We love that it folds up small and wheels away when not in use. This bike carrier is worth every penny!!

The Thule is very easy to use, and holds the ebikes very securely. I wished the rack had brake lites pre wired and mounted, I found a set of lites that plug into my trailer hitch lite outlet and works just fine.

by:

This rack is perfect! eTrailer had it shipped and at my home in almost no time. I drove with it on the car today, and it was solid and secure. It's super easy to get on and off the hitch. I'm 5'1 and I was able to load the bike on with the ramp without a struggle.

Thanks for the thorough video and comparison information. It made this purchase easy.

Love it but the handle needs to be longer. You have to bend over to move easy. Easy to put on hitch and take off.

Wow, this rack could not be easier to use. Within 5 minutes of delivery I had it out of the box and securely installed on my van, and within 15 I had our 2 e-bikes loaded. It is remarkable that no tools are needed. Now that we have the attachment arms figured out for the size/configuration of our bikes, future loading will be much quicker. On the return after our first use it took only about 5 minutes.

The system for attaching and tightening the rack to the 2" receiver is ingenious. I have never so securely attached anything to the hitch receiver so easily. Again, no tools needed. Once installed, there was literally zero slop or play in the hitch receiver. The rack handled the heavy bikes (1 is 65lbs 29.5kg, 1 is 50lbs./22.7kg) with similar ease, at least for our first outing, which did not include freeway travel. I was able to watch the bikes with my rear camera and they were rock solid, so I don't think higher speed will make any difference and I have high confidence that the bikes will be secure for long trips. The bikes were held securely in place and did not touch or rub each other at all.

Once home, the rack was super easy to remove from the hitch and store in the garage in under 2 minutes with no tools. It folds up to about the size of a carry-on suitcase and the wheels make it really easy to move even though it is light enough that the wheels are not really necessary. I think it's fair to describe the design and engineering of this rack as "elegant".

The rack is so well thought out and engineered that it is simply a joy to use. It is quite expensive, but worth the price if you have heavy bikes to carry. It may be overkill for lighter bikes, but the ease of use and off-car storage makes the case for getting it anyway, especially if you will be taking the rack off your car after each use. I don't know of anything similar that is so easy to store when not in use.

We did not use the included ramp. It is way too short for this rack when mounted on our Sprinter van, which has a hitch height higher than a most cars but lower than a lot of Jeeps and pickup trucks. Thule makes a longer ramp, which seems like a necessity if the ramp is important to you for loading and you have a high vehicle.

etrailer was also great. The rack arrived in 2 days and they followed up to make sure it was received in good condition.

Caveat: I wrote this review after using the rack for just one outing. However, IMO it is so good that there is no need to wait longer. I could not find anything about the rack to criticize.

I purchased the rack and receiver hitch a year ago. Installation of the rack was made simple with the installation video that was specific to my vehicle (2020 Honda Accord). Literally took less than an hour start to finish. Only tool that I needed to buy was a torque wrench, which was about 20 bucks. It did require a very small cut in the plastic bumper that was accomplished easily with a keyhole saw. There was no drilling or other significant issues.

The rack itself is awesome! My wife and I have two Lectric XP3 bikes. They weigh about 65 pounds each with battery. When we travel I revome the batteries to save a bit of weight. I have made two cross country trips (over 6000 miles) with this rack and have never had an issue. Literally every gas stop or hotel stop someone asks me about the rack and bikes. It really is that nice. My wife usually scolds me because we lose a 1/2 hour of travel time each stop to visit with complete strangers:)

The rack is easy to install and remove on the receiver hitch. The lockout feature works great and gives a great deal of peace of mind.

The bikes are easy to load. I don't use it, but there is a ramp that could make loading the bikes easier if a person couldn't lift the bike onto the rack.

There are two arms the lock onto the frame of the bikes similar to the receiver hitch. Once locked down the bikes will not move.

I would recommend ordering the longer ratchet staps if you have fat tires. I think they cost around 20 bucks but the longer straps allow for a little more flexibility in arranging bikes on the rack.

I would strongly recommend this product and this company.

I was concerned about whether or not my Emile would fit because of the unique frame. It turned out to be an easy assembly and fit. The loading rails make all the difference.

by:

The Thule XT bicycle rack does not take two fat tire e bikes. But is great with 1 fat tire e bike and a normal off road bike. I tow the ebike and mountain bike to Houston at least twice a month and have no worries at all. But it will not tow two ebikes. Could someone recommend one that carries two fat tire ebikes. Specifically Himiway ebikes.

Thank you for your review. The Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes does carry 2 fat tire e-bikes as long as they do not weigh over 65 lbs. a piece. You will need 2 sets of the Fat Bike Straps part # TH985101 to adapt the straps for the width of the fat tires.

This product arrived in perfect condition in a sturdy box and arrived as expected. The description and photo were perfect. I am only 4'11" and I can lift and put this carrier on the hitch on our vehicle. It folds up which makes it easy to install. My husband did the minor assembly. We are impressed with how securely the rack is and comes with a ramp to help ease the bike onto the rack without lifting. Also, the rack can be tilted so the back hatch of the vehicle can be accessed without taking off the rack from the car.

by:

Great service. I especially appreciate the help choosing the right rack for my personal situation (heavy fat bike/e-bike, Rav4 Prime). Rack easy enough to set up, especially after finding a you-tube video on google. Very happy with my purchase.

by:

This rack is extremely strong and exactly what is needed for ebikes. We have seen some really flimsy racks being used for ebikes and this is the only one I would trust.

This rack has hauled our bikes many times now and it remains our favorite bike rack. The only downside of this rack is the extended loading ramp is a bit on the flimsy side and has been known to fall down while the bike is being loaded.

by:

This rack completely removed all barriers to getting my wife to go on cycling trips with me. She could easily walk 20 miles in a day, but I have rheumatoid arthritis and even walking two miles is hard. However I can bike all day (thanks Sidi shoes!) and now so can she. Lifting her e-bike onto the rack is not hard for one person, and a cinch for two. The tie-downs and clamp to hold the bike on are very adjustable to any bike configuration.

by:

This has turned out to be an excellent choice to carry an Electra eBike and another bike. We needed a carrier with capacity to safely move a 50+ pound eBike and found several candidates. Although this is the most expensive, after a bit of deliberation and some contact with etrailer, we selected this one.
The clamps and straps do not interfere with eBike bike fenders. Some other carriers have a different restraining method. The capability to locate the clamps on nearly any spot of the vertical bar makes it great for carrying any combination of the bikes we own.
It is extremely easy to roll it out of the garage and set it up. Without hurrying, I can get it installed and two bikes on it strapped and clamped and ready to go in less than 15 minutes.
Installing and using the carrier is exactly as it is shown in the videos. Very simple and very secure when installed.
I have tried the ramp just to see how it works and I think it is solid enough to move any eBike. Presently we don't need to use it, but one day we will and I think this rack is solid enough we will still be using it.
Being able to mount the vehicle license plate on the carrier is a nice feature. Plate is not obscured by the bikes. I have never been stopped for that when using any other carrier, but now there won't be a reason!
I was initially concerned about the distance the plastic parts of the carrier would be from the exhaust tips on our 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T. A few years back I melted a tarp on a cargo carrier while on a trip and did not want to melt an expensive bike carrier. I checked a bunch of measurements I could find online with retailers and the mfg. I emailed etrailer.com to find out what I did not know. Conner L was quick to answer my dimension questions and created an answer page; great service and I appreciated that. John Huff followed up to ensure I got what I was looking for.
I think there is plenty of clearance, about 16 inches horizontally, and the carrier is nearly 3 inches above the exhaust tips. Photos attached. We have done plenty of local trips and not noticed any affect from the exhaust.
When the carrier arrived it was well packed. One minor problem was the reflectors seemed to have fallen out of their receptacles and got stuck to the plastic bag at the bottom of the box containing the documentation. Maybe due to being in hot shipping trucks this summer. I emailed etrailer and got several responses from folks. They took my problems seriously and sought to resolve it. Great service. I was concerned the double stick tape was not tacky and no longer any good- they sent me a new set of reflectors right away. Could not ask for better service from Carole, Jesse, Nicole, and Korren.
Quality products and quality service made me a very happy customer. Although this seems like it is an expensive carrier, it is very well designed and works like a dream. Because it is so easy to use, I use it a lot more than my previous carrier. It seems like it will provide long term value in dependability and ease of use.

First the negatives: if you have a aftermarket mid-drive electric beach cruisers to load using the ramp you'll run into a bit of a problem. When loading the first one you'll bottom out mid way up the ramp, meaning the motor hits and you'll need to lift up the back end of the bike to get it up there. Then you'll need to lean the bike toward yourself to get the pedals past the upright black bar that the holders are attached to, this is a bit awkward due to the weight of the bike, the angle and height you are working at. You are probably better off just lifting this style of bike onto the carrier. When loading the second bike you can forget about using the ramp all together due to how narrow the placement is on the carrier between the two bikes. To me this carrier appears to have been designed for lightweight road bikes that have narrow profiles.

One of my cruisers has fat 3.5 inch tires. Before purchasing the carrier I did ask one of the experts on the site if I would be required to purchase the extra long tire straps. He said "NO" and that the carrier could accommodate tires up to 4-11/16, well that question has since been modified to read "YES" you do need to purchase the extra long straps.

Some positives: The ability to roll the carrier to the car is a nice feature. The way it screws to the hitch and it's ability to lock to the hitch is a plus. The bike clamps feel very secure and gives a peace of mind that your bikes are firmly in place and not going anywhere, even when parked thanks to the locking feature of the clamp.

A decent carrier with some flaws.

It's pretty sweet, the only bad thing is that it sticks out from the vehicle, it doesn't fold in.

Found the bike carrier with ramp to be extremely easy to use, it is light maneuverable & storable. I have a four-wheel-drive full-size Chevy Silverado pick up with a Lance 8.5 over the cab camper. Using a 7 inch hitch extension, I’m able to still enter the camper with the carrier in the down position, as shown in the picture. With the camper on the truck it’s easy to get my Mt. bike And my wife’s E bike on & off the carrier with the ramp. But with the camper off the truck the ramp is almost straight up and down, the truck is not low enough, and the ramp is not long enough. So I have to put a 10” step bench underneath the ramp so that I can get the bikes on and off using the ramp. I also purchased the Swagman RV horizontal 2 bike bag. The problem with the bike bag is that the little hole that slips through the hitch receiver is not big enough to go over the wheels of the carrier. So you must cut a hole big enough (10”x12”) to expose where the ramp is stored and the carrier latch points are exposed, so that the carrier will snap back & lock in the upright position. Then the bag will fit two bikes with this bike carrier.

by:

Very impressed with the quality. I had two e-bikes strapped on for a 9000 mile trip. It took a serious pounding being mounted on the back of our camper trailer. Very rugged.

by:

Bike rack works great. Easy to install and load bikes. Folds and stores easily. Highly recommend.

by:

This is, without exception, the BEST bike rack we have ever owned. We have two e-bikes, which bring with them special considerations insofar as racks are concerned: we have to be able to cover them and since e-bikes are heavier, the racks really have to be up to the task. We have purchased other racks, even one recommended by our bike manufacturer, to great disappointment. This Thule rack is simple to mount, extremely stable and easy to cover. We drove 3,240 mile cross-country with two 48-pound bikes on the back of our Jeep and didn't have a single problem. GREAT CHOICE!

by:

I was extremely happy with this bike rack when first purchased. I had two Lectric XP 2.0's mounted on it and after a few short trips it was great to be able to not worry about my bikes.

It didn't, however, hold up over time - over time meaning I've had this less than one year. We took a 5,000 mile trip from Tennessee to Yellowstone and back over two months. During that time the bike rack itself had damage, but more importantly, both my bikes are damaged and I also have body damage to the Jeep Grand Cherokee in tow behind my motorhome.

Long story short, the arms that come down and "grasp" the bikes lose their grip. I check EVERY single travel day before we depart to ensure that the ratchet claws are tight and click when attempting to tighten down.

On a highway in South Dakota I noticed that the bikes weren't in their normal position. I pulled over and found that both arms had come off and two 75lbs bikes came crashing down on the hood of my Jeep. They were only held on by the ratcheting tire straps.

Later in the trip in Idaho, I saw the same thing in the camera. This time the plastic housing on the rack had cracked and also caused a puncture in one tire, scratches on both bikes, two bent crank wheels on the bikes, and what turned out to be $1,500 in repairs to my Jeep.

I'm extremely disappointed that I have a useless $1,000 bike rack, $2,000 in heavily damaged bicycles, and $1,500 in repairs to make to a vehicle.

by:

I really like this bike carrier. It is well-designed and thought out for making storage compact, integrated ramp for loading/unloading heavy eBikes, innovated anti-rattle hitch, easy access foot step to unlock and tilt the rack, integrated wheel straps, and integrated locking system (no cables to deal with).

by:

This is the second Thule Bike carrier which I have purchased from etrailer for my e-bike. The previous one was damaged beyond repair on i-95 in Georgia in a stop and go traffic situation when we were rear-ended. Although expensive, this was is the best bike carrier for my e-bike which is too heavy for me to lift up onto a bike rack because it utilizes an integrated ramp. Also, it is rated to carrier more weight than a typical bike rack. I have been very pleased with this product and ease of use for a 125lb woman!

by:

Excellent bike carrier that’s easy to use! I added on the longer straps to accommodate the fat tires on our ebikes, but other than that, I was able to unbox the rack and install/use it immediately. These bikes weight 63lbs apiece and this rack handled the weight with little swaying over the course of our 250 mile round trip. It might be a little pricey, but it sure gave me confidence that our bikes were safe and not going to be stolen or become hiway trash during the course of our trip.

It does have a lower weight capacity at 35 lbs per bike and you wouldn't want to mount a bike with a carbon frame to it. If you have a heavier e-bike then you will want to go with...

  • Comparing Trailer Hitches For 2023 Mazda 3 Hatchback and 2023 Honda Civic Hatchback for Bike Rack
Both vehicles you are looking at have a trailer hitch option that would work for a bike rack. For the 2023 Mazda 3 Hatchback you'd need the Draw-Tite # 24984. For the 2023 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring you'd need the Draw-Tite #24954 Both of these have 1-1/4" receiver openings so you'll have no problems carrying a bike rack like the Thule Easy Fold # TH903202. The # 24984 on the Mazda 3 is going to be quite a bit easier to install, as it bolts to the bottom of the frame where...

  • Comparing e-Bike Racks Compatible with Lectric XP 2.0 Step-Thru Bikes
I have a few different e-bike racks for you to check out and the differences really just boil down to the weight of the rack and the features it comes with. The first recommendation I have is the Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack # HLY66ZR which is the most cost-effective of the 3 but it weighs in at 46 lbs and it doesn't have any wheels on the rack itself so you'll have to hoist it into your hitch receiver on your own. We do have a customer that submitted a review photo (see attached)...

  • Least Visible Hitch for a 2022 Chevy Spark
The least visible hitch we have for your 2022 Chevy Spark is going to be the Draw-Tite item # 24941. Everything but the 1-1/4" receiver mounts behind the rear bumper cover. This is a class I hitch with a 200 lbs tongue weight capacity so it will work great with your Thule Easyfold Bike Rack item # TH903202. I have linked an installation video below along with a couple of pictures so you can see what this hitch looks like once installed. This hitch does not fit the electric models.

  • Can a 2019 Chevrolet Spark Carry 2 E-Bikes Using a Hitch Mounted Bike Rack?
Yes, you can install a Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11433 on your 2019 Chevrolet Spark. This receiver is capable of supporting up to 200lbs of tongue weight. With each of the Lectric 3.0 e-bikes weighing roughly 60lbs without the battery you will need a carrier like the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 which is capable of supporting 2 bikes up to 65lbs each and working with your class I receiver. I do recommend installing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118694 when you install the receiver....

  • Will My Two Trex Townie Go 5 E-Bikes Fit On The Thule EasyFold XT TH903202
Yes, your Townie Go 5 E bikes will fit nicely on the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202. This rack is essentially made to accommodate these kind of e-bikes, whether it is a step-thru or step-over frame. Based on what I can see online, your bikes should weigh about 50 lbs and have a wheelbase of just under 47". The Thule EasyFold will accommodate two bikes weighing up to 65 lbs apiece, and a maximum wheelbase of 51-3/16". So you are well within parameters fitment wise. Also, the frame clamps...

  • E-bike Rack to Transport Specialized Como 3.0 E-Bikes
For a bike like your Specialized Como 3.0 that has as long of fenders as you have you would need to go with a frame mounted e-bike rack. A wheel mount would need to grab the bike right where your fender is to secure it properly. So between the two racks you mentioned the E-Spec part # S94FR would be what you would need instead of the Escapee # S39SR. If you wanted a nicer frame mounted bike rack the Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202 would be what you would want. This rack even has a ramp...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for a 1-1/4 Inch Hitch and a 2 Inch Hitch
I have a couple of possible solutions for you but you won't be able to carry the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack item # Y36FR with your 1-1/4" hitch if you use an extender/adapter. Those adapters reduce your hitch's capacity by 50%. The first option is to purchase the 1-1/4" version of the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack item # Y96FR so it fits your car and using the Brophy Hitch Reducer item # HT02 will allow it to fit your husbands 2" receiver. The benefit of using the reducer over the adapter is that...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Adventon Adventure Step Thru Bikes
Depending on what type of hitch receiver you have there are two options available for your Aventon Adventure Step Thru bike. If you have a class III hitch with a 2" receiver, I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack item # HLY84FR. This rack can handle up to 80 lbs bikes with a 5" tire width. The only other thing you'll need is an adapter bar like item # HRBA-PRO since you have step through frames. If you have a 1-1/4" class 1 or class II hitch receiver you will need...

As long as the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the face of the hitch is at least 1-1/2" (see attached photo) you'll be good to use the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 with the OEM hitch on your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon. If the distance is less than that we need to look at a different bike rack or trailer hitch because there won't be enough of the shank from the EasyFold XT in the hitch receiver for proper support. I recommend swapping out the hitch receiver since you'll...

  • Yakima or Thule E-Bike Rack Comparisons
Of the racks you mentioned only the Yakima OnRamp part # Y36FR was designed specifically for e-bikes. The others could be used with e-bikes since they have the higher weight capacity but if the e-bikes have fenders they won't work well since they grab the bikes by the tire right where the fender normally is. So of the three I would recommend the OnRamp as the best overall choice. For a similar Thule e-bike rack we have the Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202 which is normally my favorite...

  • E-Bike Rack Recommendation for Fitting Bike with Wider Frame Tube
The Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack # SA4412B has a 60 lb per bike capacity so it works with most E-bikes as that's typically more than needed for them. In terms of the bike frame clamp I checked with Saris and they say that it fits all frame styles and sizes. I'd have to see a picture of your bike frame to see if I though it would be an exception to that rule, but in the mean time a better option might be the Thule EasyFold part # TH903202 which has a 65 lb per bike capacit and use...
