Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Heavy Loads: 5,000-lb Rear Suspension Support

Big loads can cause serious rear-end sag that throws off steering and braking. These SumoSprings Maxim helper springs add up to 5,000 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level and steady. They attach at both the top and bottom so you have constant support—even when unloaded. With progressive load control, the springs compress easily for light loads and firm up as weight increases, keeping your suspension balanced and your handling predictable.

Installed SumoSprings Maxim Helper Springs compressing under vehicle load to show suspension support and reduced sag.

Smooth Out Rough Roads: Microcellular Urethane Cushioning

When uneven pavement or potholes hit, the microcellular urethane material cushions bumps and road shock before they reach the cabin. The springs expand up to 50 percent of their height to allow more movement in your suspension when unloaded, giving a smoother, less bouncy ride. They also resist oils, salts, UV rays, and temperatures from -25 F to 200 F, so they hold up through every season without wearing out.

SumoSprings Maxim Helper Springs shown extended to demonstrate suspension travel and flexibility when the vehicle is unloaded.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

When a sharp corner or gust of wind tries to push you around, each SumoSpring works independently to keep its side planted. That independent action helps cut down on body roll and sway so your vehicle feels more stable on the highway or when maneuvering into camp. The springs also compensate for off-center loads, keeping your frame level even when cargo weight isn’t perfectly balanced.

Skip the Maintenance Hassle: No Air Lines or Adjustments Needed

Once these helper springs are bolted on, there’s nothing else to do. There’s no air pressure to monitor, no airlines to route, and no compressors or valves to maintain. The closed-cell urethane construction provides constant support with zero upkeep. It’s a simple bolt-on upgrade that gives lasting suspension help without extra steps or tuning every time you head out.

Works very well.

by:

Fit perfect and easy to install after figuring out how to install. 2 bolts missing and no instructions in box.

by:

A bit harder to install with the dual tires on but followed the instructions and had no issues with the installation. Felt the difference the first time out. Courtney was great to work with, recommend that you go to her for help.

by:

The use of this Sumo springs has greatly cut down the sway of Thor Chateau motor home with Ford E350 chassis. Very glad to have installed them. Strongly recommend them for any RV’er who has difficulty with driving any motorhome due to sway.

by:

Added these rears and also did fronts at the same time. Did the install myself. Took longer than I thought it would, but not bad if you have some mechanical ability. If you do be very careful while drilling the holes on the drivers side as the instructions state, the brake lines are right there and if you don’t put some kind of block between the lines and frame you may damage those lines. Adding the front and rears has improved the handling of driving our motorhome greatly. Just drove 800 miles since installing and the stress from driving was so much less. Hardly noticed the winds and semi’s. Would recommend this product.

by:

2019 Thor Outlaw 29J I've only driven this RV for about 1800 miles.
I don't know if I could rate these any higher. I ordered both the front and rear Sumosprings and the fronts arrived earlier than the rear, so I went ahead and installed them and went for a 100 mile test drive. Night and day difference, no more harsh ride in the front, and a lot less pogoing. Now I can't wait until the rears come in and I can test those.

by:

Much harder to I stall than the front units. You need a strong jack, jack stands and a powerful drill. Be very careful about the wires and brake lines inside the chassis. Be prepared to remove the rear wheels, which is a challenge on a dually. It can be done at home, but you need to be pretty handy and very careful. It took me about 2 hours per side, being careful as I went. However, combined with the front helpers they work superbly. The vastly reduce body roll and pitch and make the ride much better. They make the camper much easier to steer as well. Consider having them installed professionally if you are not mechanically adept, but they are well worth the purchase price.

by:

MUCH MORE STABLE RIDE

by:

I am sure these are very good, the only reason for the low rating is to get attention so no one makes the same mistake like i did.

These DONOT FIT on a 2018 Jayco Greyhawk equipped with the JRide suspension. The Heliwig helper springs are in the way.

etrailer application guide needs to be updated, the picture attached show the Heliwigs are in the way.

by:

It seems to be taking care of our bottoming out problem. We’ve only taken it a short distance so time will tell. The old airbags had to be removed and new holes drilled but other than that they was relatively easy to install.

by:

The OEM front axle springs are useless. You really need these. A very easy DIY fix to your RV chassis. They'll definitely help with the extra weight we added.

  • Best Suspension Enhancement & Steering Stabilizer For 2023 Jayco Greyhawk 27U
Hi Jeff, I can give you a hand here with suspension upgrades for your 2023 Jayco Greyhawk 27U, though honestly I'd go a different route than the Timbrens # TFEF350 and # TFERSD you mentioned. They'll do their job, but my goodness they can be quite rough on the ride. They are made from a very dense hollow rubber so there just isn't much "give" there and you'll feel it. The better option is definitely SumoSprings because they'll compress based on the weight being transferred so it isn't...

  • Which Hellwig Anti-Sway Bars Should Be Installed on a 2022 Entegra Odyssey 26D
Hey Robert, thanks for reaching out! You are correct that you'll want to install the rear Hellwig Anti-Sway Bar # HE78RR first on your '22 Entegra Odyssey 26D, and then if you still need more help you can install the front Hellwig Anti-Sway Bar # HE26GR. You'll see a bigger difference with the rear bar replacement than you will with the front which is why we recommend changing out the rear first. Some additional upgrades you might be interested in for the the future are a steering stabilizer...

The SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-106-54-1 you referenced are for extra heavy duty and rated for 7,000-lb capacity and are designed for your rear axle while the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Front Axle # SSF-106-47 are for light duty and are for the front axle of your motorhome. Both are a fit for your Class C motorhome and will help minimize sway and body roll. I do not recommend just looking at the colors of the springs as Super Springs uses their...

  • Parts to Improve Ride Quality on 2025 Jayco Greyhawk 27U
Hi Ed; unfortunately, that is a pretty common problem with new motorhomes. The front and rear anti-sway bar are typically the best way to start so adding the Hellwig Front Anti-Sway Bar # HE26GR is a great idea. After that, I recommend a steering stabilizer. The Roadmaster Exact Center Steering Stabilizer # RM47MR will drastically improve steering and really cut down on fatigue. Since you have the rear anti-sway bar, do you have the JRide Plus package? That comes with the Koni shocks...

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2018 Forest River Forester Motorhome E-450
Adjustable suspension enhancement would be your best option. This will give you the ability to add the exact amount of additional support you'd need to prevent bottoming out while also not making the suspension overly stiff. So for that you'd want the Firestone Ride Rite kit part # F22ZR which is a confirmed fit for your 2018 Forest River class C 32 ft. on a Ford E-450 chassis. For a compressor kit to make inflating and maintaining the air bags easy we have the Firestone kit part #...

  • Best Sumo Springs For 2022 Nexus Viper V25/ Ford E450
Hello Harold, thanks for reaching out. The SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs # SSR-106-47-1 are the correct fit for your 2022 Nexus Viper/Ford E450. The 7" of clearance is the bare minimum for them to fit, so as long as you have 7" or more between the sidewall of the tire and the frame you will be good. The Hellwig sway bar will not interfere with the Sumo Springs. it is quite common for folks to use these products in tandem.

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement For a 2019 Ford E-450 Class C 31' Chassis
I recommend going with the SumoSprings Front # SSF-106-47 and Rear # SSR-106-47-1 for your 2019 Ford E-450 Class S chassis. I find these provide the support you need without causing a lot of stiffness in the suspension. If you notice your camper has a lot of body roll you can upgrade your Rear Sway Bar # RM-1139-147. And we have the Exact Center Steering Stabilizer # RM47MR to help with the other common problem of steering wandering due to the overhang on the front of Class C RV's.

The correct air bags would be the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F22ZR.
