  • Comparing the B&W Patriot 16K, Curt A16, and Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitches
The B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3200, Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16120, and Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 all have fully articulating hitch heads so there won't be much of a difference in hitching/unhitching at an angle. I recommend the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16120 over the others for a few different reasons. The first of which is that the A16 has 1" thick, dual interlocking jaws which will do a phenomenal job of reducing...

  • Replacement Actuating Rod for a Reese 16K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
The replacement actuating rod for Reese 16K 5th wheel hitches is # 30579. You may also need klip rings # 58054 and spring # 30776. There are no written instructions for replacing the rod. But you will have to remove the head of the hitch and turn it over to get more access to the internal parts. I have included an exploded diagram of a Reese 16K hitch, # RP30047, that might help.

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Rail Kit and Hitch for 2015 Ford F-350 Diesel
For your 2015 Ford F-350 Diesel, I recommend starting with the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50026-58. These rails and brackets are compatible with the Diesel Exhaust Fluid tank on your truck. These custom brackets require no drilling into your truck frame. You won't have any issue with the hitch height and your bed rail height. Then if your have a short bed truck, I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round...

  • How to Reduce Chucking and Jarring While Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer
Chucking and jarring while towing a 5th wheel trailer (or any trailer for that matter) is unavoidable because the trailer itself is not one piece with your vehicle. When your truck starts to move forward from a stop your trailer is still sitting static and so there will be a slight jolt; the same thing happens when you slow down. Since the front end of your trailer is connected to your truck, when your truck starts to slow down your trailer is still moving forward so it will give you a...

  • How To Install The Reese Replacement Spring, # 30776, On A Reese 16K Fifth Wheel Hitch
Usually, these springs should not have to be replaced unless they are damaged. You will want to check the Reese Replacement Spring, # 30776, and make sure it is not damaged and check the Reese 16K Fifth Wheel Hitch, # RP30047, to make sure that there is no other damage to the hitch. The springs are located in the head assembly. One goes from one side of the hitch jaws to the other side. The long side of the spring (hook furthest from the coils) attaches to a pivot point on the flat rod...

  • How to Mount Reese 30047 5th Wheel Hitch to 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 With Puck System
In order to mount your Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047 to your 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 with the factory puck system, you will need an adapter because the hitch won't fit directly in the pucks as it is not designed for that. So what you'll need in order to use this hitch is the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Chevy/GMC OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package # DM6333. You will simply attach this adapter to the puck system in your truck and then attach your Reese hitch to the adapter and...

  • Hitch Height Range of Reese Slider Fifth Wheel Hitch RP30051
The hitch height range of the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30051 is 15 inch to 18 inch (actually 15-1/2 to 18 inch, see below). That includes the reduction in height settings because of the slider. You can not tow your trailer with the hitch slid back though. This would unweight the front axle which would make handling and braking dangerous.

  • Can 2020 Ram 1500 with Ram Box Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer
Hey Craig, In order to tow a fifth wheel trailer using a 2020 Ram 1500 with RamBox you'll need to use a rotating pin box like the Reese Sidewinder which will be specific to the trailer. This is so that the pivot point is moved up high enough that the Ram Boxes won't get hit around corners. If the trailer uses a Lippert 1621 then the correct Reese Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret is part # RP34FR. Then, you can complete the setup with the Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard...

  • Where to Lubricate a Reese Pro Series 16K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and what Grease to Use
It does sound like the hitch needs to be lubricated. You can lubricate the moving parts with automotive chassis grease or a white lithium grease such as # L11354. There are also white lithium grease sprays that you could use. After lubricating the hitch you should actuate the handle a few times so the grease gets in the nooks and crannies. You could then use hitch head cover # RP30055 to help keep out moisture and dust/dirt when not using the hitch.

The Sidewinder pin box # RP34FR is rated for 20,000 lbs . You also could use the Air Ride # RP61422 if you prefer for a smoother ride. • Is There a Universal Fifth Wheel Rail Kit that Fits Most Fifth Wheel Hitches
The Reese universal fifth wheel rail kit part # RP30035 is what you are wanting. • Can a 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch be Adjusted Higher or Lower to Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer Level
First, I need to know if the truck in question has been lifted or if it just happens to be taller. Also, if it is lifted, I need to know if it is a suspension lift or body lift. If it is a body lift you will not be able to install a 5th wheel hitch because the bed will be too far from the frame. 5th wheel trailer hitches and most pin boxes on trailers are height adjustable. You can adjust them up and down a few inches to get a more level tow. With the truck and trailer on level ground...

  • How to Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer with 2018 RAM 2500 w/ Ram Box and Air Suspension
The only way you can safely tow a fifth wheel trailer with a Ram truck that has a Ram Box is with a Sidewinder pin box replacement as the pin box would no longer swing to the sides in the truck bed and hit the narrower bed rails. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one. There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer. Once...

  • Using the Lippert Turning Point Pin Box with Reese 5th Wheel Hitch On a 2019 Ram 3500 with RamBoxes
If your Grand Design Reflections 150 comes with a Lippert Turning Point Pin Box then there will be no need for a Reese Sidewinder as these both serve the same purpose which is to move the pivot point therefore making for more turning clearance. The only thing you would need is a fixed 5th wheel hitch and for that I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 because of the dual locking jaws which form a tight grip on the kingpin therefore making for a smooth ride. • Is There an Adapter To Fit Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch Installed in Flatbed Truck
The issue you most likely are going to have is that the portion of the flat bed that sticks out past the rear axle is going to be too long to fit under the overhang of a fifth wheel hitch since they were designed to fit standard truck beds. How long is your flat bed though since you have something different from the picture? • Jaws Will Not Release on Reese 16K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
Does the handle on the 5th wheel hitch offer any resistance when you pull on it to open the jaws? If it doesn't then that is an indication of a broken spring. But there is a second spring that could be missing as well. The trouble is you have to access the underside of the head to access the springs. If the hitch jaws will not release and the trailer is coupled then you can try to pry apart the jaws manually. Other wise you would have to release the head from the legs which I do NOT recommend....

I was able to pull up the online towing specs for your 2018 Ford F-150 and it looks like there is still a somewhat large potential range even within the specs that you provided depending on your axle ratio, drivetrain, and wheelbase. At the low end on your F-150 SuperCrew with the 3.5 V6 engine it shows a 5th wheel towing capacity of 6,500 pounds for the 4X4 model with a 145 inch wheelbase and the 3.55 axle ratio. • Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch for a 2017 F-250 Super Crew with 6 3/4 Bed
Since you have a Keystone trailer with the Turn Max technology you don't need a slider at all actually. Manual or automatic slider would not be needed. With fifth wheel hitch you actually don't really need them to sit higher than the bed rails of the truck. It's actually the opposite in nearly every situation that the hitch sits below the top of the bed rails. The pin box of the truck extends down far enough to compensate for that. The Reese fifth wheel hitch part # RP30047 is a similar...

Check out the attached picture to see what the rails you have SHOULD look like. In order to determine if a Sidewinder such as # RP34FR will allow you to perform a 90 degree turn with your 2016 Ram 1500, you first need to measure the distance from the center of your fifth wheel hitch jaw to your truck's Rambox. You will also need to know the width of the trailer you will be pulling. You can then use this formula to find out if you can do a 90 degree turn: (A + B) - C = Clearance A = Distance from center of 5th-wheel hitch jaw to Rambox in inches B = Length of Sidewinder...

  • Can 2021 Ram with Ram Boxes Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer
There is definitely a way to tow a 5th wheel trailer with your 2021 Ram that is equipped with the RamBox, but it's going to require some new components both on the trailer and your truck. The issue with the Ram Boxes is that they make the bed rails really narrow on the truck, so much so that you can't make turns without a standard pin box or adapter like a Goose Box knocking into them. For a fifth-wheel hitch for your 2005 Ford F-150 with 5 foot 6 inch bed, I would recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, part # RP30928, which is a 20K hitch. There are a few reasons that I recommend a 20K hitch, the first is that there are more features on the 20K hitch, like a floating head that makes hook up easier and a locking double jaw. Another reason is that in the future if you decide to go with a heavier trailer, you will not have to purchase another hitch. To install, you...
