Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bars - RM-RBK18-RSSA

  • Steering Stabilizer
  • Roadmaster
  • Includes Mounting Hardware

The sturdy steel spring on this stabilizer keeps your vehicle in line by constantly working to maintain its position. Mount it between the steering mechanism and the chassis for a tight connection that will minimize wander and correct oversteering.

Features:

  • Compensates for oversteering and returns your vehicle to center
    • Tempered steel spring works to return to its normal state - when compressed, spring pushes back into neutral position; when extended, it pulls back
  • Attaches to the steering mechanism on one end and to the chassis undercarriage on the other
    • Tight connection between these components keeps steering firm and controlled
  • Helps you to maintain control of your vehicle in the event of crosswinds, rut tracking, road edging or a tire blowout
  • Reduces road fatigue - stabilizer keeps you centered so that you don't have to work as hard to steer
  • Installs in approximately 1 hour with no drilling or welding
  • Includes stabilizer, custom mounting brackets, hardware and installation instructions
  • Made in USA
  • Limited lifetime warranty

A variety of things can make your vehicle veer - crosswinds, uneven pavement, tire blowout. The key to a pleasant, and safe, driving experience is learning how to deal with these situations. Roadmaster's Reflex Steering Stabilizer works to return your vehicle to center when something happens that causes it to swerve or jolt. As a result, you won't have to oversteer in an attempt to stay in line, thus minimizing road fatigue.

The stabilizer attaches to your vehicle's tie rod on one end and to the frame on the other. A heavy-duty steel spring runs the length of the rod, constantly working to keep steering controlled. If you steer your vehicle one way and it gets pulled the opposite way, the spring will stretch momentarily and then quickly pull back to its normal state. If you oversteer your vehicle in the same direction it is already moving, the spring will compress for a moment but then push back out to its prior state. No matter how you steer or how the frame is pushed or pulled, your vehicle will always return to center.

Before installing this stabilizer on our coach you wanted to keep both hands on the wheel due to the drifting around in the lane. After we had it installed, there is no longer a need to use both hands to control the coach and maintain a straight path in our lane.

The part that Amber told me was the correct for my RV does not fit
The spring hits the frame and will not allow the shock to rotate up.
I also would have to rotate the shock spring unscrewing it !
I will be contacting Roadmaster

Freightliner

Just received, not yet installed, buty appears pretty straight forward. All parts included, Anticipate no more than an hour to install. Reviews for the product were excellent and reason I purchased it. Seems RVs on Freightliner XC-S chassis tend to have a little wander issue and requires constant attention when driving. Am looking forward to the relief other RV owners have claimed.
Sales (Brittany K) was excellent help, shipped product same day and I received it two days later. Searching for product on line, etrailer was only one to sell it as a complete kit and they were the least expensive of everyone I checked (six other dealers) and also had free shipping. Plan to make future RV accessory purchases from etrailer.

Comments
Excellent. Given the number of customers who complain of steering issues, Im underwhelmed Thor doesnt add these to all units before delivery. When you are dealing with a rig which costs more than $150K, what is another $450 when it adds considerable to safety.

Have now had this product on our coach for a year and I can honestly say that it's a god send. The Coach handles great and much much more stable than it was out of the box (lol). Not so susceptible to passing trucks or other vehicles. We did have to get longer u-bolts to accommodate the install on our 2019 Berkshire but otherwise, fantastic outcome. Very happy with my purchase. Thank you e-trailer and Roadmaster for a great product.

Comments
Still working great as ever. Performs like a champ. Wouldnt go without it. You would think it would be standard equipment.

I installed this stablizer in about an hour. We took our first trip after installation to New Orleans. I feel that this improvement made a great deal of difference in the handling of our 40' coach. Noticed a significant change in the handling with truckers passing and varying road conditions. Would definitely recommend this addition and always the great customer service of etrailer.

I installed this product in less than an hour. Previous to this install my motor home would find every bump and crevice on the road which would be felt in my steering wheel. Post install my ride is smooth and much less stressful. Thank you!

Comments
It worked very well and absorbed much of the road vib. I sold my RV and hope the new owner appreciates it as much as I did.

The stabilizer worked as advertised. It virtually stopped the proverbial “Semi-Push”
I still had a little drift from side to side on a straight highway so I had the front my end aligned. That didn’t help but then I read a thread online that talked about tire pressures. The writer claimed that pressurizing the tires to RV specs was way too much pressure.
My coach plackard calls for 120# at full load. Adjusting that for actual coach weight I arrived at a pressure of 110# but I still had some drift.
I finally reduced the front tires to 97# and now, with the stabilizer and the correct tire pressure, the coach dropped he’s like a Trailways Bus.
We put 9,000 miles on last summer going coast to coast and

The install was pretty easy. Your instruction sheet needs to be updated as paragraphs 4 and 6 were not accurate. I suspect the bracket design changed since the instructions were written.

The only issue I had was the tie rod was almost directly over the front nut of the shock mount bracket. I was able to remove the nut with a short socket and extension. But, when I reinstalled the bracket, washer and nut, I could not get the socket off. I had to leave the washer off and then I was able to remove the socket.

I really like the way the RSS improved the steering feel. The wheel feels "tighter" now and I don't get the twitching and jerking I got before when hitting potholes or seams in the roadway. It also reduces the amount of input you have to use on the steering wheel when driving in strong crosswinds or passing semis. Even though my coach is brand new, this was an excellent addition. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Roadmaster

As always product was shipped as promised, installation was 1 1/2 hours with all pieces fitting well. I always use etrailer if possible because I have never been disappointed with shipping and finding the products I need. The Roadmaster steering stabilizer ordered for my class A makes the driving much smoother and with less stress on me, great product. Should have ordered it months ago, thanks again!

2009 Freightliner Motorhome

Called several RV centers and no one wanted to install the steering stabilizer, so I installed it myself, took about 2 hours to install and properly adjust it for no pulling, made the difference between day and night. No more white knuckle driving, worth
every cent sent on it.

Allegro

Easy to install. Was helpful on my Allegro Red. Steering was noticeably easier. 18 wheelers causing sway was diminished. I certainly would recommend as a relatively easy fix. Overall my steering improved 75 percent.

The Stabilizer was one of the best upgrades I done to my 2007 Tiffin Pheaton. It made a major improvement in the handling on the highway of the bus. It gave me improved confidence of my ability to handle the vehicle in bad conditions. A great investment!

2007 Volvo Cross Country

I had a reflex stabilizer on a type A motor home that I traded for this one. Was very satisfied, it did away with the wind sway and the draft of passing trucks, I would recommend it to all with this problem. I have installed it on current Cross Country but have not driven it yet, have no doubt it will also do the same for it.

This product was a definite improvement. We have seen a substantial difference in the handling of our 40' motor home with this addition. The swaying from trucks passing and uneven lanes has been reduced. Less driver stress!

Made a big improvement to our Freightliner chassis. It should be standard equipment!

Comments
Still working great! Freightliner should provide it.

Helps with the return to center steer, will not help with sway --still get pushed by the big rigs. Makes driving more pleasant because less driver input to keep it between the lines.

So far it seems to be help.

First, I did have to grind off corner of the plate that mounts under leaf spring bolts. It would not lay flush so I tapered one of the edges where it met the axel a little bit till it laid flush. I did buy a 3/4 inch wrench set but with an rv, it's good to have and will possible allow me to get the 22.5 inch wheels off in an emergency. This with a good solid 3' pipe and I was able to fairly easily break the leaf spring bolts free. I used boards to ensure the fronts tires were fairly straight, laying them alongside the tires and eyeballing to see where they lined up with the back tires which are about 4 inches wider than the front outside width. I mounted the steering stabilizer and took it for a test drive and it was good the first time, no additional adjustments needed. Feels good on the road, good around turns, and even at low speeds around the driveway, I did not notice any extra effort to turn the wheel due to the heavy spring on the stabalizer. Put about 75 miles on it and it feels solid and stable though no high winds or passing semi trucks yet. But my 2007 ford f53 22000 lb chassis under a holiday rambler admiral body has always felt pretty good. Just trying to make better, next up is the new koni evo fsd heavy duty shocks coming today.
