Hello everybody Clayton here at etrailer.com Here at etrailer, we install, test and review a lot of different products. To help you as a customer and make a more educated decision before your purchase. Today we're going to be taking a look at it and I'll be showing you how to install a replacement locking pin for Demco and etrailer tow bars. Our locking pins allow us to put our tow bar in the stored position whenever we're not flat-towing. As you can see right here there's going to be a pin that locks under this collar that keeps our tow bar from moving whenever we do put it into this position. Now this pin goes right through the top of our tow bar right here, as you can see, ours is missing.
So that's why we need to replace it. And there is no need to buy a whole new tow bar when you can replace the simple part to make it work perfect for you. Now, there are going to be a few different scenarios that you might be replacing. This pen. One is minimize, lose this eclip.
And if that's the case you can pick up a new eclip at etrailer or this can might break just by being used for a long time, or it might be bent. It is definitely something that you guys are going to be able to replace at home. So as you can see whenever we put our tow bar arm over the serve position it still hangs down because we're missing that tab. And that definitely is not good because we don't want them bouncing around on the bottom of that joint. So let's go ahead and get this replaced.
All we're going to do is take our new pin, drop that into that hole, and we're going to rotate our arm up exposing the groove on the bottom With that groove there, we just want to take our eclip slide it over that groove. Just like so grab a pair of needle nose pliers or even a flat bladed screwdriver. You're just gonna put pressure down on that clip to lock it into position. You want to make sure that it locks all the way around that groove in our pin. Now we can put it into the locking position.
All we're going to do is lift up on our arm rotate that over until that pin lines up with our plate. Just like so, and now it's locked in. We're not going to have to worry about it. And that's going to do it for our look at and our quick installation of the replacement locking pin for our etrailer. And Demco tow bars..
Had to replace these pins 3 times already due to clips popping off and the pins bending during transport (not towing). It’s cheaper replacing the pins and clips than buying a new towbar but a stronger pin with a cotter pin for security would work much better.

Part not delivered with bottom retaining clip. Retaining clip was shown in 2 of the pictures so I thought it came with the clip to secure in place. after delivery and checking the order I noticed the clip has a separate part number and would need to be ordered separately. Not sure why anyone would want to buy a new pin which did not include the clip. As the shipping cost of $5 clip would be another $5 I went onto Amazon and bought a set of 100 clips of vat]rating sizes for $6.50 and no delivery charge.

Just what I needed.
These particular parts seem to be susceptible to bending failure. Perhaps the material is too soft?
The etrailer service folks, however, are always excellent and replaced under warranty the bent pair without hesitation. We've used etrailer for all of our towing needs and the service is always perfect.
These pins are the exact match to the OEM. However they are not very strong. If you don’t have the arms high enough when stowing them, this pin will bend VERY easily

The flat tow parts worked great & provided me a secure and safe tow of my 2018 Jeep Wrangler behind my 2018 Thor motor home.The tow bar storage plate works like new the retaining clip have made my tow bar new again. I bought it used but it works like brand new.

It's a pin, and it does what it's supposed to, but it does not come with the snap ring that holds it in place. It should come with that. Had to run to my local hardware store after getting the pin to get a snap ring.

The product was a perfect replacement but I thought I was going to receive the c clip with both pins because on the web site it looked like I spent a few dolars more for the c clips than the price for the pins bt themselves and maybe it was suppose to include the c clips but the plastic bag on delivery was opened.

Thanks for the feedback, James! This seems to be something that comes up about these pins. I will be contacting Demco to see if they can address these issues as they definitely should not be bending and/or falling apart that easily. Other than the pins, how do you like the tow bars? And actually, which ones do you have?
