  • 40 Inch Tall
  • CE Smith

Guide-on posts make it easy to load your boat onto your trailer and back your trailer down the ramp. They attach to the rear of your trailer and extend out of the water, providing visual targets to center the boat between during loading.

Features:

  • Guideposts provide a visual target on your trailer to help you load and unload your boat
    • Extend out of the water to help you center your boat while loading
    • Assist you in backing your trailer down the boat ramp
  • 16-Gauge, pre-galvanized steel posts are strong and durable
  • White PVC pipes slide over steel posts so you can see your submerged trailer
  • Simple installation on rear crossmember of trailer frame with included hardware - no drilling required
    • Adjusts out to 13" from trailer
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: trailer frames up to 3" wide x 4-1/4" tall
    • For frames up to 5-1/4" tall, 2 extra-long U-bolt kits (CE11416 - sold separately) are required
  • Overall height: 40"
  • Steel post dimensions: 18" tall x 1-1/2" diameter
  • PVC Pipe diameter: 2-3/8"
  • Quantity: 2 boat guide-ons

Note: Check with your state Department of Transportation for restrictions regarding maximum trailer width.

Guide Your Boat Into and Out of the Water with Ease

When your boat trailer has been backed down the ramp and is partially submerged, these 40" tall guideposts that are mounted on the rear corners of the frame will stick out of the water, giving you 2 highly visible targets to guide your boat between for loading. The PVC pipes also provide a visual aid to help you back your boat trailer down the ramp when you're unloading and loading your boat.

Installation

The posts are simple to install. Slide the PVC pipes over the pre-galvanized steel support posts. Then mount the posts on the top or below the trailer frame, as close to the rear corners as possible. Adjust the posts so that the distance between each post and your boat is less than 1".

Pre-Galvanized Steel

Pre-galvanized steel parts are stamped from a sheet of steel after it has already been galvanized. The edges of pre-galvanized parts often lose their zinc coating during the stamping process. Because of the thinness of the coating (less than 1 mil) and the fact that the edges remain exposed, pre-galvanized parts can begin to oxidize and rust quickly, so it's recommended that they be primed and painted.

The trailer guides are extremely well constructed. Video online is helpful. The printed directions and the printing on box offer visual help as well. Be sure your end caps are in the direction you want, as they are very difficult to remove once placed. Heads up... The guides inch closer to the boat as you tighten the front bolts.
Take note of that, as my boat is widest in the middle, and one inch of clearance in the back would not be enough clearance for the middle of the boat. Highly recommend product, can't wait to try them!

by:

the u bolts that came with the kit did not fit my shorelandr trailer but i bought some to make it work!

by:

Easy to install. Rugged. I can now see where the back of my trailer is at. Was pretty much guesswork before. Also I don't have to think about if it is lined up correctly. A time saver on busy launch pads.

by:

Not sure what you can say about guide on posts, but they are a solid fit. And a decent price as well. I did have one of the top caps pop off when I backed the trailer in, and it went bloop bloop bloop! CE Smith normally makes pretty good accessories.

Comments
CE Smith offers a replacement cap as part # CE11331-DRILLED. They recommend using some PVC cement to secure the cap.

These trailer guides have made it extremely easy to load our 25 ft boat in windy weather. Had to notch the rear step and drill holes to attach due to the design of my trailer, but even so it took less than an hour to install.

Comments
These work extremely well when loading in windy weather - the boat stays in place making it easy for one person to load.

They were a pain to install, but that's probably because my trailer is built different than most I've seen. They do work very well and I'm happy to have them on. I also added the lights for the top of the posts. We fish late into the dark and these are fantastic for loading the boat. And I like that they make the trailer more visible on the road. With all the distracted driving these days, you need all the help you can get. I do wish they had a turn signal option, but I suppose I could wire that up and make it happen. Overall, I'm very pleased with them and definitely recommend them.

by:

My son, whose trailer these are now on, says they are a game changer. Today we easily loaded his boat with this product’s guidance as opposed to numerous loadings and unloading before trying to center the boat on the trailer as it wanted to slip to one side or the other. Easy installation and worked perfectly. I think I will order a set for my boat trailer as well.

by:

The specification for this model states it can only reach 13 inches out from the frame but I needed 14 inches for my pontoon. However from the product photos I could see that the vertical arm is longer than the cross arm so I thought I could mount it “upside down” and get the reach I need. Because it is a bargain I took a chance and ordered it. As shown in the photos it worked perfectly. I not only got the extra reach (width) but it also lowered the top of the PVC pipe so it clears my deck which I also wanted. Now I can simply pull the back of the pontoon over until it hits the bumper and it will be centered perfectly. To temporarily provide the visibility needed to back into deep water I simply slide a 5 foot section of half inch PVC pipe inside as shown. It is an excellent product, very heavy duty and I highly recommend it.

Still working great.

Just pulled my boat from the water on 10/20/2022 and the guide post allowed my to put my boat square and centered on the trailer. No muss no fuss. Thanks

by:

They fit and work perfect. Thanx.

by:

The guide-on posts were very easy to mount on my simple trailer. Instructions were good. The posts make recovery of my 18-foot aluminum john boat a much easier task. This is what I hoped for. The quality is excellent and durable so far, 4 months from purchase.

by:

The post guides make it so much easier to line up my pontoon with the trailer in windy conditions!

by:

Once again the etrailer representatives were professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant. The the Post-style trailer Guide-ons arrived much sooner than I thought, and the product was very high quality. I have not yet installed them on my trailer, but I am very happy with the quality of the materials, and they appear to be the right fit for my trailer. I have always been very pleased with my interactions with etrailer, and the RV and boat trailer products purchased through this company

by:

Product well made...in USA... and reasonably priced. In my opinion most boaters would be pretty happy with this boat guide-on lifesaver.

by:

The CE Smith Post-Style Guide-ons for the trailer worked out wonderfully.
Without out we could not load the jet ski, and we also got a second set for the trailer for the pontoon...thank you so much

by:

Happy I bought this product already put on my pontoon boat trailer. What I liked most was ability to view installation instructions on YouTube.

by:

Easy to install these well made guides. These keep the back of the boat from being blown sideways, and in my case, allow me to see my narrow little boat when I’m backing up, or just driving down the road. I had an extra set of trailer lights that weren’t really good enough to submerge, so after I finished installing these I attached these lights to the PVC top cap, then just ran the wires down and connected to my existing wiring. Now I can really see, and be seen. Please note that the lights in my image DO NOT come with these.

Comments
My trailer has very skinny rails open on one side. If yours is this way, I advise cutting a block of pressure treated wood to just fit in the rail with a few hammer blows. Otherwise the shackles of these guides will bend the open ends inward, causing them to loosen. This isn’t a problem with this product, it’s just my cheapo trailer not being made of 4 sided box channel. Everything still looks new!

Purchased the rail guides to keep the boat from drifting to the extreme right/left on heavy current days. The guides work as advertised.

by:

These things are great. Super easy to install and easily adjustable. I can now easily launch and trailer my boat with no additional assistance required

by:

Searched the internet high and low for trailer guides for my 12 year old Bass Tracker trailer. Finally ordered your 40” set hoping they might work. Opened the box, did a trial fitting and thought theses will not work…. not enough of the bottom bracket with the guide at a 90 degree angle to secure it properly. Using a shop vice and 3 foot of steel pipe, I bent each guide out about 15 degrees which made them PERFECT and gave me 3-4 more inches of bottom bracket for additional bolt down strength….

by:

I think these will be great once I get my width correct. I have a Lund adventure and it seems the bow fishing platform is a little wider than the stern so I may need to adjust a little wider to get it to launch smoothly. I am only giving 4 stars because there is no adjustment to make sure the vertical upright is straight. I have one side that angles toward the boat. I don't know if my trailer is twisted a little bit or the aluminum support wasn't exactly 45 deg. I can probably take the PVC off and bend the aluminum outward to straighten with a little bit of muscle. I found that the brackets installed better on my trailer with the back of the U bolts in the slots and the front in the end holes. I also found that I could tighten up the underneath U bolt enough to get the width set before even installing the U bolt that goes over the top of the other one. Your install may Vary :)

by:

Boat guide arrived on time and all parts required in package. Ranger boat trailer has a fender well that goes to back of trailer so your support folks advised that I install on top of C frame. All went well but the Ranger is wide so the guide insert at the frame is 1.5 inches short of going to the end of the bracket. Guide is really sturdy and should work fine. Only other choice would be to use 5" U bolts and move the mounting bracket forward and inch. I have not been able to find 5" brackets in hardware stores or on line.....do you know where they are available? Guide looks great and look forward to trying it out at the lake.

Easy to mount and adjust to the trailer!

by:

Great products....the posts, lights, and plug all were shipped quickly and easy to install. Finally have my lights up high and out of the water. I used 3 wire extension cord to run uncut lines from the lights to the plug at front of trailer. Should protect against corrosion issues. Pictures of my install are attached.

Thanks

This has worked out well. Lights and connections never touch the salt water. I did the same thing on the trailer for 25 center console.

I installed one set and it has really helped the tritoon align when loading at the rear of the trailer. I put a guide on each side of the middle toon. Love it !
