2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV

Product install wasn't too bad, but I agree with the Moderate rating on the instructions.

A couple notes from my experience installing on the 2024 Equinox EV:

-Removing the underbody panel required removal of 16 7mm hex heads. There were no T15 screws or push pins involved.
-The depth of the trim slots is shown as 7.5" on the reference diagram. This was a bit excessive as you can see from the picture.
-There is no way to get two of the 7mm hex heads back in because the holes are completely covered by the hitch.

All told, not a bad install.

I appreciate the photos and the honest report on the install, Andrew! Thank you! Happy to hear the overall consensus is it's good :) What will you be using your new hitch with?

2025 Honda Prologue

Does not fit 2025 Prologue EX. The holes in the car floor are at least 1.5” off in the outboard direction. See photos. Maybe I got a bad one, or it was incorrectly labeled. It’s too sturdy for the brackets to be bent. My guess is the model changed slightly from ‘24 to ‘25 and this wasn’t re-tested.

I was committed and need it, so I drilled new holes which was a giant pain. 4 hour install and I still need to trim the rear air dam/wind deflector plastic to fit.

Lastly, I’ve never seen more poorly printed instructions. The text was fine, but the photos are so dark you can’t see anything. Disappointed in Curt this time.

It sounds like you may have gotten a warped or bent hitch and that is why the holes were not lined up. We will reach out to you shortly and help get this resolved.

The product is well made and installed easily however, the instructions were not very good and the pictures did not match up to the underside of my Equinox EV. I do think the Hitch receiver could have come out a couple of more inches so that I don't need an extension for my bicycle rack.

by:
chevrolet Equinox

The installation went pretty straightforward on the 2025 Equinox EV. Two things to note: 1) The directions showed enlarging of the most forward holes in the frame rails to run the bolts/fish wires up thru, when actually they need to be placed thru the center of the 3 holes, and 2) the hitch tucks very far in under the bumper section of the vehicle, which will likely necessitate an extension for many accessories. It would be nice if the receiver tube projected 4-6 inches further out.

The hitch looks well-built and quality. I just think they need to look at the hole spacing on the hitch. I installed it on my 2025 Equinox EV. It just did not fit without modification to the hole spacing. I had to grind the holes bigger to make it fit and not just a little but a lot. It looks that multiple people are having this problem with installation. I wish I would have gone with the OEM hitch. At no fault of Curt, this also sits quite low and far underneath the car and does not allow my bike One-Up rack to fold up all the way.

Appreciate your insight Aaron! Sounds like a solid hitch, but that mounting issue on the 2025 Equinox EV is definitely something future buyers should know about. I'll see what I can do to pass this information onto Curt.

So far, so good! I had it installed by a mechanic for $100. With the RockyMount bike trailer I bought, it works great. Given that the mounted hitch sits several inches under the car from the bumper (Chevy Equinox EV), the bike trailer, when folded up, comes flush against the car. In fact, we needed to use a file to shave off an 1/4 inch of the tire tray so it could fold up and not gouge the car. I hated to do that to our new bike trailer but it’s no worse for the wear.

It is a substantial hitch mounted to thin sheet metal on the car. I would not use this for towing anything near the 3500 lb rating.
It is very disappointing that Curt continues to sell this with the mounting slots too narrow to easily mount on the car. How much work would it be on their part to widen the slots inward (toward the center of the car) a quarter inch?

Chevrolet Equinox

I successfully installed the Curt trailer hitch receiver onto a 2024 Chevy Equinox EV. The one problem is that the predrilled holes on the hitch receiver do not line up with the mounting holes on the Equinox. The hitch holes were too far apart. We used the die grinder to enlarge the elongated holes toward the center of the hitch by 1/4 inch on either side. Curt needs to remeasure their "custom fit". Other than the one issue, installation was straight forward. It is a two-man job. Trimming of the underbody panel requires only a 1/2 inch wide slit on either side. The hitch receiver is very beefy, and is probably overkill for the bike rack that we are using it for.

I was very impressed with the design and figured it was going to be a piece of cake install. Unfortunately, the entire bracket assembly was too wide from side to side center to center on the bolt holes. I needed to elongate the holes on one side because I already pulled my fish wires out of the other side. so I had hopes that elongating the holes on that one side would give me enough room to get a fit overall. Unfortunately not the case. I had to take out the other bolts and notch about a quarter inch to 5/16 “off of that side as well. Once I elongated all four holes in the frame , it fit nicely. It was a lot of work, taking the hitch out and back in a few times to get the proper fit. Don’t know if the set of plans for the fabricator was off or the fabricator didn’t do such a good accurate job. I would’ve given it five star. I thought it was a perfectly excellent , install with the exception of the fact that it didn’t fit out of the box.
This was for a 2024 Chevy equinox EV. I did not have to trim the under panel, except to cut a groove for each of the hitch mounting brackets. May be a half inch wide.

2025 Chevrolet Equinox

Quite stout and well made/finished. The fit was good but not perfect. It is about a 1/4 too wide,so the slotted mounting holes don't line up properly with the corresponding holes in the Equinox EV frame. By leaving the nuts on one side VERY loose, I was just able to get the bolts on the other side into the slots on that side, but that meant that all 4 bolts were at an angle, pressed against the inner side of each slot, pointing at about 25 degrees away from the center of the car. I was able to tighten all of them, but they were under some side load.

  • Do I Need to Trim to Install a Hitch on a 2024/2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV?
Hey Kevin! The Draw-Tite Hitch item # DT66KV is going to sit higher than the Curt Hitch item # C89RV when it is installed on the 2024/2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV. The crosstube mounts behind the rear bumper instead of to the bottom of the frame so the receiver is going to stick out just below the trim. There will need to be some trimming done to get the receiver of the Draw Tite item # DT66KV to stick through the fascia. I have attached a screen shot from the installation instructions below...

  • Will Hitch for 2024 Chevy Blazer EV Fit 2024 Honda Prologue
Hi John; even though they use the same frame there is some kind of difference between the two that won't allow the # C63ZV to fit the 2024 Prologue. Curt is working on a hitch for the Prologue which is the # C89RV. We have it up for pre-order but it is not yet available. I guarantee if the Blazer EV hitch fit the Prologue Curt would not be designing a different hitch specifically for the Prologue.

  • Is There Trailer Hitch that Fits 2024 Chevy Equinox EV
Hey Sylvain, yes we have the Curt Hitch part # C89RV that is a confirmed fit for the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV. I attached a link to find a dealer near you that is in your area hopefully. I am not totally sure if our dealer network extends to Canada yet.

  • Will the Curt Trailer Hitch # C89RV Fit a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV?
Hello Dustin. I looked at the answer that you are referring to. The manufacturers have not been able to test fit at this time, so they do not have it listed. However, here at etrailer.com we have an entire team dedicated to our fit guide which is why we are able to confirm the fitment a little quicker than they can. Our fit guide team has been able to confirm that from 2024 to 2025 the frame of the vehicle has not changed, so the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2"...

  • Will the Curt Hitch C89RV Block the Liftgate Sensor on a 2024 Honda Prologue?
No, it does not Josh. We have had no issues with the Curt Hitch item # C89RV blocking the lift gate sensor when installed on a 2024 Honda Prologue. What typically happens if the sensor does get blocked it would only around the 2" receiver so you would have to kick to the left and right of it. You don't want to be kicking right around the 2" receiver anyways. I have linked the installation instructions below. What are you needing a hitch for?

  • Is Fascia Trimming Needed to Install Curt Trailer Hitch On 2024 Chevy Equinox EV
Hey Brent, That's a really good question, and while there is some trimming needed on your 2024 Chevy Equinox EV, bumper/fascia trimming is not required when installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C89RV. What you'll have to trim is some of the underbody panel on the Equinox, and I have added a cutout below of the instructions for the # C89RV which show the amount. You can do this pretty swiftly with a rotary tool, and while it's a pretty long piece you'll need to trim, it's needed...

  • Do Draw-Tite & Curt Trailer Hitch Fit 2024 Chevy Equinox EV
Hi Michael, Yes, it sure does; you were correct, as not only does the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C89RV fit your 2024 Chevy Equinox EV, but so does the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT66KV.

  • Trailer Wiring for a 2025 Chevy Equinox EV
Hey Byron! You'll be able to use both the Curt Hitch # C89RV and Wiring # C44FR for your 2025 Chevy Equinox EV. We say that the wiring requires the OEM package, but the Curt guide says it fits without having the OE package. If you check out the linked clip from the wiring instructions you'll see where the factory connector is located on your Equinox EV. Try checking in this spot prior to purchasing just to confirm the connector is there.

  • Do All Hitches for 2024 Honda Prologue Require Frame Hole Enlargement
Hey Mike, so all of the hitches that fit your 2024 Honda Prologue like the Curt # C89RV are going to require enlarging the holes of the frame to install. I don't think you'd get in trouble with your lease for doing this but you might check to be sure.

  • Trailer Hitch Needed For A 2025 Chevy Equinox EV
Hi Yanick, None of the manufacturers we offer currently have a confirmed fit for the 2025 Chevy Equinox EV yet, which means they just haven't had one in their shops yet to confirm. The Curt # C89RV probably will end up fitting but there does seem to be more of a focus on safety sensors on the 2025 models so they could've potentially moved some things around, making the hitch not fit. Most manufacturers are pretty accommodating if they can borrow your car to do the test fit so if possible...

  • Trailer Hitch Fitment for a 2026 Chevy Equinox EV
Hey Geroge, We actually do have a hitch fit for your 2026 Chevy Equinox EV! Right now, the only one that fits is the Curt Class III # C89RV, but even at that it's still a great hitch receiver that can resist the elements and remain strong for a long time to come. For a bike rack, I really like the Kuat NV 2.0 Base # BA22B because it has a durable yet sleek matte black finish, and it's much easier to use than a lot of other similar bike racks. I don't do much biking, but if I were ever...
