Today we're going to review part number BWRVC3006. This is the replacement head assembly for the B&W Companion fifth-wheel trailer hitches. It has a 25,000 pound weight capacity. Now, this replacement hitch head will fit the B&W Companion fifth-wheel trailer hitches. This head assembly, when used with the correct B&W base assembly, will make up the B&W Companion fifth-wheel hitch assembly. The head, this has the dual jaw design, has the one-inch deck dual jaws, which will provide a 360-degree jaw-to-kingpin contact. That will give you less rattle and more security than the slide bar jaws.
It has this cam-action latching handle which helps prevent binding. It's very simple to release, even on un-level terrain, and it is lockable. It comes with a pinning clip, but it is also lockable if you buy a padlock that we sell separately you can put through here and permanently lock it. But just to show you how this handle works is you release the pin and clip, and then as you move this handle towards the cab or the front of the tow vehicle, you'll notice that the jaws do open, both dual jaws, and then when your kingpin slides in here, the weight will push up against the back here, which would force this handle to slide up, jaws would close around the kingpin, your handle would only go so far, and then you just drop your pin and clip in, or your padlock, whichever you decide to use. You just drop that in there to lock it into place, then that handle wouldn't move and it'll keep the jaws wrapped around the kingpin. It does have a fully articulating head when this is installed on the pivot arms.
It will rotate front to back, and this plate right here will go side-to-side so that fully articulating head will ease the hook up, helps to limit chucking. This head assembly is made of steel, and it's a gray, powder-coat finish which is corrosion-resistant. Again, the max gross towing weight capacity on this is 25,000 pounds. Max vertical load limit is 6250 pounds. But you need to remember those when this is installed on the base assembly to get the whole fifth-wheel hitch.
The capacity that this head assembly will have will be determined by that capacity of the base that it is installed on. And then one last thing I want to show you is when - this is taken off the base assembly, but when you go to install it onto the pivot arms, basically what you would do is you pull the clip out, pull the pin out, pull the clip over here, pull the pin out, and then what you do is you grab these two handles right here and when you pull up to lift it up that'll allow you to drop it on the pivot arms, and then when you let this down, it'll hold it into place, and then you put your pins back through. The reason they do this, it'll make it a lot easier when you have the whole fifth wheel installed in your vehicle, and if you don't have anybody around to help you remove it, you can actually remove the head assembly to cut down on the weight, and then you can remove the base assembly separately as just one person. And then once you install you put your pin back in, and go ahead and put your clip in, and do the same over here, once this is installed on the pivot arm. And then put your clip in, and with those installed that'll hold it on the the pivot arms of your base assembly. But that should do it for the review on part number BWRVC3006, the replacement head assembly for the B&W Companion fifth-wheel trailer hitches. .

I love my B and W fifth wheel hitch very easy to use, very easy hook ups and disconnect with no jamming. Great, hitch. I highly recommend it.
It is working out fine, Do they make a cover for the hole I drilled in the bed so that it is covered when the hitch is removed/
We love those hitch. It's very sturdy and built well. I haven't had the need to use the slider mechanism yet during our travels but I have slid the slider into the backwards position and was able to turn my truck almost at a 90° angle while hitched to our 5th wheel. My wife very carefully guided me as I turned very slowly to the right and then to the left. The front cap of my 5th wheel had about a 3 inch clearance from the back of my truck cab. I feel very confident that I can navigate through a tight turn with the slider engaged.
One of the most stout 5th wheel heads and bases. Very simple and extremely durable. The fact that this head breaks away from the base makes it possible to remove the head and base with only one person and without a lift or getting a hernia.

Still working great, essentially no wear on the powder coating after 3000 miles and multiple unhitching. Keep it lubed well with a clean bushing. I will say after talking with other trailer owners, I might have gone with a different brand entirely due to the difficulty to get the slider engaged disengaged. I have to jump over the side of the truck to pull the lever. There are times when the main base of the B&W doesnt want to lock or latch completely and it will slip back into the original position cause the need to get back into the bed to release again. Do significant research before purchasing. I am 95 happy with the B&W, it is of great quality but might not be the best for our F350 short bed with 29 RV trailer.
Installation was fairly easy. Followed the included directions an verified each step with the product video. Drilling a 4 inch hole in the bed of the truck was a different story. But hole lined up perfectly with the center piece an the bolt holes of the bed frame.
The only draw back was there is not enough room to tourqe all the bolts to spec. I moved my smaller 5th wheel last week about 40 miles an will be using it this weekend to move my 40 ft toy hauler.

I have had my B&W Companion hitch for over a year now in my truck. Best hitch I have had. Easy to change from 5th wheel to goose neck. No problems. It was easy to install with the assisting video from the e trailer website.
Easy to handle. Works great.
Easy to operate. Super durable! The jaw mechanism is a great design and always gives me confidence to know it’s locked. Would highly recommend this product.
Been happy with it so far. It’s heavy, but only because it’s well built. I have noticed it wears more on the passenger side. I started using a lube plate and it seems to remedy the wear and completely silenced any clunking.
Easy Replacement.
Had to purchase this because of a mistake made by etrailer on my original purchase. It was the only one in stock that fit my needs but was $[XX] more than my original purchase. I'm kind of glad that happened as this one seems so much better than what I was going to purchase, a brand with which I had experience. Solidly built, quiet with minimal chucking and the slider mechanism is easy to use.

The hitch works fine-- I've been on 3 trips with it and it functions perfectly. Just wish it wasn't so darned heavy. Even after taking the head off need another guy to help me get it in/out of the bed.
Great looking heavy well made product and the unit was shipped the night I ordered and received Monday after the Thursday night order. Good phone service with call back service from etrailer when lines are busy so no long on phone hold waiting time waste.

No issues or problems
This unit works great. The damper cushions the pitch and yaw from the camper ensuring a smooth and safe ride.
Item as described. Bought a used base for my new truck and bought this new head, which fit perfectly and saved a bunch of $$$ over buying a new hitch.

This was a great purchase at a fair price. The only issue I had was, I live 60 miles from the warehouse they ship from. I wanted to go pick it up and that was not an option. Shipping is figured in the price, but I could have saved both of us that money. It's all good.
