Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I am impressed!!

by:

Was delivered as Promised and I installed it by myself in under 30 min.

I used a floor jack and a piece of plywood to lift to proper height to attach nuts.

by:
2015 Ford F-150

This trailer hitch mount fit perfectly on my truck and worked well with all the different things I needed to haul.

by:
2001 ford F-150

Just got an email requesting a one year review. I bought this hitch for my 2001 F150 after I retired it as my daily driver and promoted it to “Urban Farm Truck” the truck is old and has a LOT of miles so I didn’t want to break the bank on a hitch but obviously safety is a concern. High quality product. I mostly use it to pull our little tear drop camper. If I remember correctly the install took less time than the unboxing. Perfect fit great bang for your buck highly recommend.

Order placed at 11 am Monday. Wednesday at 330 pm. It was in my driveway!!! Installation took all of 20 mins, including putting tools away. etrailer even provided a cardboard "PAD" for me to lay on during the install (see photo)! I am exceptionally pleased with my new receiver Hitch!

Over 100 trips, and thousands of miles using this hitch! Other than re torquing the bolts once shortly after install always a good practice, we have had no issues with this hitch! I have recommended this company several times to friends. We are planning a year long trip starting this fall, one thing I dont have to worry about, is the hitch Im towing with!!! Thanks again for a great product!!!

2001 Ford F-150

Excellent variety, very fast shipping. I bought this to replace a hitch poorly installed by the previous owner of the truck. It made a nice compliment to the trailer brake and wiring previously purchased from E-Trailer. Will buy from E-Trailer again.

Took a few extra days to arrive but I talked with customer service and they explained that they were in transition to a new building. Customer service was very helpful and installation was quick and easy. All parts were packed carefully and scratch free!

Great product and service. I needed the hitch within a couple days and etrailer made it happen. Product arrived two days later, fit like a glove and installation was simple. Great customer service!

by:

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame trailer hitch has turned out to be EXACTLY what we needed for our truck. The bumper hitch, that came standard on our 2003 Ford F150, was too high for us to tow our 10' trailer safely. I ordered the hitch and it arrived within a few days. Installation was a BREEZE. As a matter of fact, the most difficult part of the entire installation was lower the spare tire. If it weren't for that, I'd say I probably could have had it installed in 15 minutes or less. With the new hitch installed and the proper insert, we're able to tow our trailer at the proper height. Well worth the money!

We have been utilizing the hitch for about a year now and have found it to work exceedingly well. We are able to tow our 10 trailer with ease and have had no issues, at all, with the hitch. If youre in need of a hitch, and this fits your truck, I would recommend giving this one a try. I believe youll be pleased with the purchase!

by:
2003 Ford F-150

It took me longer to get the lug key and winch rod to lower the spare tire than it did to mount this hitch receiver on my 03 F-150 XLT supercrew. It fit perfectly and securely to the frame and had plenty of room for the factory 16" spare. Also liked the mounting plate for trailer light plug. Nice close custom fit under the factory bumper too. highly recommend.

No problems and I have since purchased another from etrailer for my newer 2016 F-150 4x4. it also installed easily with the supplied instuctions. not a cheap hitych either well built and strong.

by:

Did exactly what I wanted to do and bolted right up

by:

Box was damaged on arrival and one side plate on the hitch was very slightly bent (maybe UPS dropped the box).
I still was able to install by pushing hard on it to get the bolt to drop in. Suggest wrapping the ends of the side plates in some cardboard maybe so they don't poke through the box?
Otherwise fine, haven't towed anything with it yet but looks like it'll do the job.

2004 Ford F-150 Heritage Series

By far the easiest online order I have place in many years. Product explanations and choices were plenty and clear.
Hitch fit like a glove and looking forward to towing without worrying about the hitch.
Items I wanted were in stock and shipped the same day. I received my hitch in 2 days, installed it in 30 minutes and was ready to go after cleanup and putting tools away in under 45.

I can't review product because I have installed onto truck but I have yet to haul anything! In order to get hitch onto truck (2004 Ford F-150 Heritage) I had to remove bumper! Prior owner(s) had hit something and deformed bumper. But that being said hitch looks and feels solid and I don't believe I will have any problems hauling. At this point, I am very satisified with product and customer service has been fantastic!

by:

Did as advertised, not too hard to put up yourself depending on how bowed it is. Not a bad hitch

by:
2004 Ford F-150 Heritage Series

This product came as stated when we purchased it. It was boxed and in perfect condition. It was designed for a 2004 Ford Pickup regular bed. We mounted it in about 10 minutes (2 People) without needing to jack up the truck, just laying on our backs. Instructions said that we might need to lower the spare tire. No way, It slipped in perfectly without moving the 18 inch tire.
The hitch fit so well, that it was mostly covered except right where the receiver was.

Suggestion to the company. We had an order number for the purchase, but no tracking number was given to us Fortunately, the hitch arrived, but we would not have been able to track it through UPS without the special tracking number. That should have been provided when we went to the tracking link on the computer.

by:

Easy to install, you should us floor jacks and jack stands if you are doing it alone.

Great Product

by:
2002 Ford F-150

First, the quality and price are excellent. Second, installation was much easier than expected. I did it by myself with no problems in less than 30 minutes.
Helpful hint if you do this by yourself: get a pair of spring plastic clamps - they are like oversize clothes pins and can be bought at any box store for a couple dollars each.
Here are my steps:
1. Remove the spare tire (less than 5 minutes)
2. Slide under the truck bed with the hitch on your belly and lift one side at a time to clamp a spring clamp.
3. Install one carriage bolt and nut (no washers yet) on each side just to hold it in place.
4. Remove the spring clamps. Install the rest of the bolts, washers and nuts, finger tight (add the washers to the first 2 bolts that you left off).
5. Tighten everything. You're done.

It's sturdy and right for the load that I'm hauling.

  • Why Are Spacer Blocks Needed to Install Trailer Hitch on 2003 Ford F-150
It sounds like you are referring to the square hole spacers that are included with trailer hitches like the Draw-Tite Class III # 75740 for your 2003 Ford F-150. If this is not what you mean please let me know. The included spacers are required when installing the hitch because without them the bolts would basically keep spinning when trying to torque them down. The blocks prevent this from happening. • Recommended Towing Products To Allow 2000 Ford F-150 To Safely Tow 3000-4000lb Boat Trailer
I would be happy to help, but there are a few items you listed that are not commonly used on a boat trailer. Typically boat trailers do not use electric trailer brakes thus eliminating the need for a trailer brake controller or controller wiring harness. Boat trailers more commonly use surge brakes which are hydraulic and use a surge brake coupler to control the braking force. Some surge brake actuators use an electric reverse lockout solenoid, so if the boat trailer you purchase has one...

Hello Rich, thanks for reaching out. In regards to the Draw-Tite # 75740 hitch, I have never heard of the removal of safety chain tabs being a required step. That said, when we put the # 75740 hitch on a 2002 F150, it did not have any tabs like you are describing. So, they SHOULD not need to be removed, but I cannot say this with 100% certainty. If they do end up being an obstruction though, they will need to be removed. The hitch has its own safety chain loops, so you might want to remove...
