Expert Answers about Swift Hitch

  • Which Back Up Camera Works Best for Hitch Alignment
  • You could go with something like the Swift Hitch Trailer Hitch Aligner Portable Wireless Camera System with Night Vision # 04928 which has more maneuverability and you can point it directly at your trailer ball. The down side is that this unit uses rechargeable batteries and sticks out considering its size and color. I recommend the Master Lock Wireless Backup Camera and Hitch Alignment System # 4843DAT. It has easy set up, no wire splicing, and an adjustable camera. The camera portion...

  • Recommended Back Up Camera for a 53 Foot Semi Tractor Trailer Reversing into Loading Docks at Night
  • I highly recommend the Swift Hitch portable wireless 2 camera night vision system # SH03D because it has everything you are needing when backing up your 53 foot trailer into loading docks at night. If you don't want or need 2 cameras, the # SH02 will come with one wireless camera. Both of these systems are water resistant which is quite nice! It will come with 2 portable wireless cameras that will transmit wirelessly to one color monitor that you can keep in your cab. Using a windshield...

  • Will the Swift Hitch Wireless Backup Camera System Work on the Back of a 33 ft Trailer
  • The Swift Hitch Portable Camera System, # SH02, was designed as a backup camera for vehicles, however, there have been many cases where customers have installed this camera on the back of their trailer and it worked well. Without any obstructions, this camera system has a 300 ft transmission range. That range will decrease as obstructions are added. Trailers add more obstructions than vehicles, so zero interference cannot be guaranteed. I spoke with my contact at Swift Hitch and...

  • Available Types of Backup Camera Systems for Use on Leer Truck Cap
  • We offer several different backup camera systems that you can see on the linked page. These include both wired and wireless types, such as the Swift Hitch # 04928 that even includes night-vision capability. At this time we have no camera systems designed expressly for the Leer caps' third brake light, or CHMSL (center high-mount stop light), but we do have a universal-fit system from Rear View Safety, part # RVS-917619P. This and other application-specific cameras are shown on the link. ...

  • Can Swift Hitch Trailer Camera, Part # 04928, Be Installed on Rear of 24-Ft Holiday Trailer.
  • Yes, the Swift Hitch Trailer Camera, Part # 04928, is suited for use on your 24-foot trailer as a backup camera. Swift Hitch also offers a water-resistant version of this product, part # SH02. Both products offer a great set of features, including automatic night vision, 55 degree viewing angle, color LCD monitor screen, a magnetic mounting bracket, 300-foot unobstructed transmission distance and rechargeable lithium batteries with included charger. In addition to its water-resistance,...

  • What is the Life Expectancy of the Battery in the Swift Hitch Wireless Backup Camera 04928
  • I checked into this with the manufacturer, and the battery in the camera portion of the # 04298 wireless backup camera system is actually replaceable. The battery is sealed inside the camera, but can be accessed. The new battery would need to be soldered into the assembly, so it is a bit more tricky to replace than the battery in the monitor but it is doable. When I asked about the lifespan of the battery, my contact at Swift Hitch said that although they have on occasion had to replace...

  • Backup Camera With Night Vision For Ford F-350 Super Duty Towing 40 Ft Trailer
  • We do offer a camera system that may work for you. I recommend the Swift Hitch Portable Water Resistant Wireless Camera System with Night Vision, part # SH02. The built-in infrared light allow for 15 ft of night vision. This is a wireless system so it will not plug into the NAV system on your 2009 Ford F-350 Super Duty truck. Although this is a water-resistant system, it should be removed when not in use. Another note of caution is that any wireless device that operates on 2.4 GHz (like...

  • Comparing Swift Hitch and Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Backup Cameras
  • The difference between the Swift Hitch camera system # SH02Digital and # SH02 is the transmission signal. The SH02Digital sends a digital signal so as to avoid any interference with other wireless devices including Bluetooth. Interference is a common problem with many wireless systems. The digital version solves that issue. There is an AC to DC adapter that you can use with these camera systems, # PP01. Another option is the Rampage wireless camera # RA7710. It transmits via WIFI...

  • Can Swift Hitch Camera # 04928 Be Used for a Gooseneck Trailer
  • The Swift Hitch Camera, part # 04928 will work with any type of trailer. I have linked you to some product demonstration videos showing the Swift Hitch Camera in action.

  • Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Alignment Camera and Monitor Image Isn't Clear at Certain Angles
  • I went out to the warehouse and pulled a Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Alignment Camera and Monitor # SH02Digital to do a little experimenting. Like you said, at certain angles the image sort of fades out or there is some ghosting like you mentioned. You just have to mount the monitor so that the image appears clear to the driver. This is a common issue with LCD screens. It is more noticeable on smaller screens than larger screens such as computer monitors though. Provided you have...

  • Swift Hitch Camera Battery Replacement
  • According to my contacts at Swift Hitch, the battery in the camera portion of the Swift Hitch System # 04928 is replaceable. However this is not just a normal battery swap out, the battery in the camera is soldered in place. So for replacement you would have to remove the existing battery and solder the new one in place. If you do not feel comfortable with this, Swift Hitch will replace the battery for you if you will send them your camera. Once the 4 screws are removed you should...

  • Recommended Wireless Backup Camera System For Aluminum 5Th Wheel Trailer
  • We have just what you are looking for. I recommend the Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Alignment Camera and Monitor, part # SH02Digital for your fifth wheel trailer. This system features night vision and is perfect for fifth wheel trailers. It has digital technology so you do not get any interference from any devices that use Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. • Can the Swift Hitch Backup Camera be Tilted straight back for Installation at the Rear of an RV
  • The Swift Hitch Portable Wireless Camera, # 04928, cannot be oriented straight out. The camera mount will not allow the camera portion to rotate to a 90 degree angle to the base. You could position the camera at a 90 degree angle to the back of the RV, if you fabricated an angled mount that would attach to the back of the RV and then attach the camera to the angled mount. I produced a short video showing the range of adjustment that the camera has. The other issue I see with this camera...

  • Backup Camera Recommendation to See Behind 5th Wheel Trailer
  • The Swift Hitch camera, # 04928, would work but you would want to mount it at the top rear of the 5th wheel trailer in order to receive and maintain a signal. The problem with that is you have to manually turn the camera on so having it up high would make doing so difficult. I recommend version # SH03D which is a 2 camera system but it comes with an antenna so that the signal will be stronger to the in-cab monitor. That way you can mount the camera in an easy to reach place and not worry...

  • Can the Swift Hitch Wireless Camera be Used at the Back of an RV as a Backup Camera
  • Yes, the Swift Hitch Wireless Camera System, # SH02, can be used at the rear of your RV as you have described. We had a chance to test this camera out at a product demonstration and it works great. The field of view is a 55 degree angle extending out from where the camera is mounted so the farther back the wider the view gets. This camera would work great during the day and at night it will provide backup vision up to 15 feet behind the RV. I would suggest that you use screws in the...

  • Will Adapter # PP01 Charge the Swift Hitch Wireless Backup Camera # 04928 From a Wall Outlet
  • Yes, the function of the # PP01 is to charge the Swift Hitch backup camera, part # 04928. It simply plugs into a standard wall outlet. A good addition to the Switch Hitch setup is the storage case, part # PC02, as this keeps together the camera, monitor, and cables, and keeps them safe with separate foam compartments.

  • Wireless Backup Camera Recommendation that is Android Compatible
  • We have a wireless backup camera that will transmit to an Android device, but it is not the Swift Hitch part # SH02 that you referenced. Instead you would want the Rampage camera part # RA7710 which is Android compatible and has a range of 200 feet as reported by our customers who have it.

  • Will Wireless Backup Camera System Be Affected By WiFi and Bluetooth Interference in Campground
  • The interference is caused by anything that operates on 2.4 GHz. Bluetooth uses 2.4 GHz, and WiFi uses one of five frequency ranges, 2.4,3.6, 4.9, 5 and 5.9 GHz. Anything nearby that operates on those frequencies can cause interference. We offer some wired camera system options that would be immune to the interference. I like a system like # KSVS-8 from K-Source that uses the rearview mirror as a monitor. The cable connecting the monitor and the camera is 18 feet long, but extensions...

  • Back Up Camera Recommendation for Use Behind a Trailer

I recommend mounting any wireless camera near the top of the trailer so that the antenna has a more unobstructed path to the monitor. I have included links to a couple of videos on this camera system for you. This system runs on a battery so it can be turned on without hardwiring it into the trailer wiring. It has a 4 hour battery life so when you stop you will want to charge the battery. For a more...

  • Is the Swift Hitch Trailer Hitch Aligner Portable Wireless Camera System Waterproof
  • The camera in the Swift Hitch, # 04928, is weather resistant but the camera is not completely sealed so it cannot be considered waterproof. For something to be considered waterproof it would have to be able to be submerged under water for a certain amount of time and still function. For rainy weather, though, the camera will work but I do recommend that once you are done using it, place the camera where it is out of the rain. I have included a couple of videos of this system for you.

  • Bluetooth Interference with Swift Hitch Wireless Camera System # SH02 on 2011 Toyota Tundra
  • If the Bluetooth feature on your Tundra is turned on, it will interfere with the camera because the camera and monitor use the same 2.4 GHz frequency as Bluetooth. If the Bluetooth is turned off, the camera should work just fine. Using a wired camera like the Hopkins # HM50002 would ensure that there is no interference. I have linked you to some product demonstration videos you might find helpful.

  • What is the Best Camera Position for the Swift Hitch Wireless Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner
  • Generally speaking, if you position the camera so that on the top of the monitor screen you can see the receiver, that would be a good place to have it. That way, you will can quickly determine where the hitch is relative to the image on the screen and still have plenty of space on the screen for the area behind the vehicle. If you have to have the camera very close to the receiver, try angling it out so that you just catch the edge of the receiver or the ball on a ball mount on the...

  • Recommended Wireless Backup Camera for Chevrolet Duramax Towing 24 FT 5th Wheel Trailer
  • My personal recommendation is for the Swift Hitch Wireless Hitch Aligner System, # SH03D, which is a 2-camera wireless system and features automatic night vision. One camera could be mounted to your Chevrolet Duramax Truck to assist with hitching up your fifth wheel and the other could be used at the back of your trailer. • Swift Hitch AC to DC Adapter # PP01 Not Working
  • I contacted our representative at Swift Hitch about the AC to DC Adapter, part # PP01. He informed me that it is likely that the fuse in the cable is blown and that the adapter is not causing the problem You will want to try plugging the cable into your 12 volt outlet in your vehicle to see if the light on the cable illuminates. If the light does not light up, more than likely the fuse is blown and would need to be replaced. You will need to replace it with a 2 amp fuse.
