  • Weight Capacity Difference Between 6-Lug and 8-Lug Wheels
  • A 6-lug wheel can be on a trailer that has an axle capacity of 3,500 lbs, 4,400 lbs, 5,200 lbs and 6,000 lbs. The 8-lug wheels on a trailer can fit a trailer with axle capacities of 5,200 lbs, 6,000 lbs, and 7000 lbs, and higher. An individual 15-inch, 6-lug wheel will have a capacity of 2,830 lbs at 80 psi. An individual 16-inch, 6-lug wheel has a capacity of 3,050 lbs at 90 psi, and an individual 16.5-inch, 6-lug wheel has a capacity of 3,040 lbs at 80 psi. A 8-lug wheel will...

  • Can You Run 110 psi Tires on Wheels with an 80 psi Rating
  • I spoke with one of the engineers at HWT and he told me that the psi rating for an HWT wheel and tire assembly is only limited by the valve stem and tire. If your current wheels or new wheels have a psi rating under 110 psi, it is okay to use tires with a 110 psi rating as long as you are using a metal valve stem that can handle 110 psi. We offer the Americana Metal Valve Stem, # AM20906. It is 1-1/4 inches long and it will fit a .625 inch (5/8 inch) rim hole diameter. You will want...

  • Capacity of Trailer Axle With 5-Lug Hubs
  • I'd be a little suspicious. 5 lug hubs would typically be used on a 3500 lb axle, while a 5200 or 6000 lb axle would use a 6-on-5-1/2 or 8-on-6-1/2 inch bolt pattern. It's possible that the current owner might have upgraded the suspension using higher rated leaf springs, but the capacity of the trailer will always be limited to the capacity of its lowest rated component. Which means that if the trailer has 6000 lb rated leaf springs on it, but a 3500 lb axle, the capacity of the trailer...

  • What Wheels do you Have Available with 110 PSI Load Rating
  • We do have a couple 16x6 wheels with a 110 psi rating. These wheels have an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern. If the Goodyear tires are size 235/85-16, they will fit a 16x6 wheel. You will have to see if the bolt pattern matches the hubs on your trailer.

  • What is the PSI Rating for Aluminum Hi-Spec Series 06 Trailer Wheel # TTWAL06865HDS
  • The Aluminum Hi-Spec Series 06 Trailer Wheel, # TTWAL06865HDS, that you mentioned, is a heavy duty wheel which will handle up to 200 psi so you would have no problem mounting a load range G tire. At this time the only load range G tire that we offer is the Provider ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire, # TTWPRG235R16, which fits a 16 inch x 6 inch rim. In this case you could go with the Aluminum Hi-Spec Series 7 Trailer Wheel, # TTWAL07685HDB. This wheel has an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt pattern so...

  • Can Trailer Wheels With Positive Offsets Replace Trailer Wheels With Zero Offsets
  • Most trailer wheels do have a zero offset to evenly distribute the weight of the trailer on the wheels, however, that does not mean all trailer wheels must have a zero offset. As long as there is enough clearance between the inside of your tire and your trailer frame to accommodate for a negative offset, then you will have no problem using a wheel with a negative offset. The best way to determine if you will have room is to take the first number of your tire size, which is the width...

  • Replacement Wheel To Match Maximum Weight Capacity of ST225/75R15 Load Range E Tires on Trailer
  • I would recommend to check the sidewall of your ST225/75R15 Load Range E tires to verify what the maximum load capacity is and at what maximum psi. Most of the load range E tires in that size are a 2,830 lbs at 80 psi. The HWT Aluminum Star Mag Trailer Wheel, part # TTWAL04156655, that you have referenced is a 15 x 6 inch wheel with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. It has a maximum load capacity of 2,830 lbs at 80 psi. The center hole, or pilot hole diameter is 4.25 inches. This wheel...

  • Replacement 5 Spoke Aluminum Trailer Wheel for Aluma Trailer
  • We have an aluminum 5 spoke 14 inch trailer wheel that looks pretty close to the wheel in the picture you sent us, but it's not an exact match. For that you would want the part # TTWAL0414545 for just the wheel or the part # AM32151 for a wheel and tire mounted with a 205/75R14 tire, or part # AM32195 if you need a 215/75R14 tire.

  • What is the Offset of a Trailer Wheel
  • Trailer or automotive wheels can have a positive or negative offset. The offset refers to the distance between the mounting surface of the wheel that touches the hub and the center line of the wheel, as shown in the diagram I have edited for you. A positive offset will move the tire closer to the trailer, while a negative offset will push the tire further away. Most of the trailer wheels we offer, including the Americana Aluminum Mod wheel you referenced, part # AM22327, have a zero...

  • What Aluminum Wheels for a Forest River Cardinal 30TS 5th Wheel Can Handle 110 psi Pressure
  • We do offer the Americana # AM20906 bolt-in steel valve stem for 100-psi-and-above pressure applications. I suggest contacting Forest River with your trailer VIN number to confirm if the stock rims can safely be fitted with these valves. The Forest River website does not indicate specifications for their 2009 Cardinal 30TS 5th wheel, however the wheel/tire size on all of their current Cardinal Series RVs is 235/80R16E, and the stock hubs and rims are all 8-on-6-1/2 bolt pattern types. This has a pilot hole that measures 4.25 inches. I pulled a couple steel wheels as well. The Taskmaster Steel Modular Trailer Wheel, part # TTW660655SM1 weighs 16.2 lbs. • What Size Rim will Fit a 245/75 R16 Light Truck Tire
  • The Dexstar # AM20741 isn't going be wide enough for your tires. A 245/75 R16 sized tire is going to need at least a 6-1/2 inch wide rim. We carry a few wheels that are that wide, such as # AM22657 and # TTWAL04167655. You may be better off going with a 235/80 R16, like # AC16R6WS, which is basically the same diameter as the 245/75 R16 size. You will also have the benefit of a trailer tire with a thicker sidewall instead of the LT truck tires.

  • Recommended Trailer Lug Nuts And Components Compatible With 16 Inch Aluminum HWT Hi-Spec 03 Wheels
  • The lug nuts I recommend for the Aluminum HWT Hi-Spec Series 03 Mod Trailer Wheel w/-8mm Offset - 16" x 7" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 # AM22657 are based on the lug stud size and finish preference. I recommend using the Americana Trailer Wheel Lug Nut - 13/16" Diameter - Stainless Steel - 1/2" - 20 # AM90054 for 1/2 inch lugs or Chrome Trailer Wheel Lug Nut - 1/2" (Each) # 12CLN. • Will Negative Offset Rims Increase Wear on Bearings
  • I spoke with my contact at Dexter and he said there shouldn't be a problem using rims with a -8mm inset (not offset) with their hubs, though ideally they prefer a 0 offset. A -8mm inset would not increase wear on your bearings. If you had a large offset it could potentially wear the bearings.

  • Can I Use Passenger Car Rims On A Travel Trailer?
  • Trailer wheel/rims are different than passenger rims and are tested for different purposes. Trailer wheel manufacturers are more concerned with vertical load limit and offset over everything else. I don't recommend using trailer wheels for vehicles as that is not safe, however you can use vehicle rims on a trailer if they fit properly. The issue you may run into is that vehicle wheel/rims normally have a wide range of offset depending on the wheel style, where most trailer wheels...

  • Can I Install Trailer Wheels on my Truck to Match my Trailer

This would include all components including tires, suspension, axle and hitch. This is a 16 inch wheel that is 6-1/2 inches wide with an 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern and a zero offset. It has a weight rating of 3,640 lbs at 80 psi, but you will still be limited...

  • If you wanted to take the full advantage of the weight capacity of your trailer you would need higher capacity wheels since currently you would only have a capacity of 13,960 lbs due to the wheel capacity. What wheel bolt pattern do you have? If you have an 8 on 6-1/2 inch the part # TTWAL07685HDB has the 3,960 lb capacity you mentioned. If you have a 6 bolt pattern the wheel capacities are diminished from that. Most don't have more than your current wheel capacity.

This wheel has 3-1/2 inches of back spacing at the zero offset mark which translates to 88.9 mm. Because it has a 5 mm positive offset you will add 5 to 88.9 which is 93.5 or 3.68 inches.
