  • Is There Another Lock Option for Thule Hitch Mounted Bike Racks Besides THSTL2
  • If you have a Thule accessory, like a bike rack, then the lock and anti-rattle device from Thule, # THSTL2, is the only one that will work. (See THSTL2 product page for the racks the lock fits.) It fits 1-1/4 and 2 inch Thule hitch mounted racks. The reason it only fits these Thule models is the way that the lock and racks are threaded. They are uniquely threaded to match each other. I have included a video and instructions for this lock below.

  • Which Trailer Hitch Pin Locks Will Work with Thule Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Racks
  • The Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device, # THSTL2, is the only hitch pin lock that can be used with Thule bike racks. The racks and lock are both uniquely threaded to be compatible with each other so another lock, like the Softride Lock, # SR25219, that you have referenced will not work. I have included a link to a video review of this lock for reference. I recommend adding a cable lock, like # CAB-10, and using it through the bikes, around the rack, and attach it to the...

  • Too Much Sway while Towing a Bike Rack and Using a Hitch Adapter
  • I am glad to hear the hitch installation went smoothly, but sorry to hear you are unhappy with the adapter. When using adapters, the play you are experiencing is a common problem. When using accessories in a trailer hitch, sometimes they are a perfect fit, sometimes they are a little loose and other times they are so tight that you must file the accessory down a bit. Because, there is not always a perfect fit, there are anti-rattle devices made. You may have noticed that your Yakima...

  • Differences Between the Softride Dura Parallelogram and Element Parallelogram Bike Racks
  • The Softride Dura Parallelogram, part # SR26247, has a few features that the Softride Element Parallelogram, part # SR26248, does not. The Dura has an integrated steel cable that you can use to lock your backs to the rack, to deter potential thieves from snatching the bikes off the rack, as well as anti-sway cradles that will prevent the bikes from contacting each other or the tow vehicle. The Dura has a bigger load capacity, it can hold four 40 pound bikes. The Element is limited...

  • Tailgate Pad Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2015 Ram 1500
  • Personally I like the Softride Shuttle Pad # SR26457 more than the Thule Gate Mate part # TH824 because it has the loops that allow a bike to easily be secured to the pad. Thule doesn't have the straps to secure the bikes to the pad, and most likely they wouldn't be necessary. But for added peace of mind I prefer the Softride. I attached review videos for both racks for you to check out.

  • Availability of Hitch Pin For 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver
  • The two sizes of hitch pins that I carry are 1/2 inch and 5/8 inch. A 2 inch hitch receiver will use the 5/8 inch hitch pin like the Hidden Hitch Pin and Clip, part # PC3. I am including a link to a page of the 5/8 inch hitch pins that I carry. The Class I 1-1/4 inch hitch receivers will use the 1/2 inch hitch pin like the Draw-Tite Pin and Clip, part # PC2. The Softride Replacement Hitch Bolt with Lock Washer, part # SR25879, that you have referenced will only fit the QuietRide stainless...

  • Replacement Locking Hitch Bolt for Xport Flatbed Hitch-Mount Bike Rack
  • We do not carry the Xport brand here at etrailer but I did speak to my contact at Hollywood Racks who is familiar with the low-cost Xport racks and he advised that there is a Hollywood Racks replacement part that should work for your platform carrier. Hollywood Racks part # HRLHPTC is a set of hitch and cable locks that includesa 1/2-inch diameter threaded hitch pin with the same thread pitch as the Xport part.

  • Differences Between Softride Dura # SR26247 and Thule Vertex # TH9029XT
  • Since both the Softride Dura # SR26247 and Thule Vertex # TH9029XT use a threaded hitch bolt that draws the shank tightly against the side of the receiver, both bike racks will be very stable in the receiver and should not move around on you. The Dura includes a lock that attaches to the hitch bolt, while with the Vertex the lock # THSTL2 is sold separately. When overstretched, the straps on the Dura are more prone to breakage. I always tell folks to resist the temptation to tighten...

  • Recommended Carriers for 2 Bikes and 2 Kayaks on 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon
  • My best recommendation is to carry the two kayaks on the roof and to carry the two bikes on a hitch-mounted rack in your factory-installed Class I hitch. You will not be able to carry both the two bikes and the two kayaks on the roof at the same time due to the space required. The total weight is also likely to be more than the roof can handle. Standard adult bikes usually weigh in the range of 30-35-lbs each but kayaks can vary a lot in their weight depending on the size and type of...

  • Recommendation For Hitch and Bike Rack To Fit 2012 VW Eos That Will Not Interfere With Convertible
  • For the 2012 Volkswagen Eos you will use the Draw-Tite Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # 24824. This hitch is a Class I hitch so you will limited to only hauling 2 bikes maximum on a hitch bike rack. I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Draw-Tite hitch and a link to a video of the hitch being installed on a Volkswagen Eos. For a 2 bike hitch rack that will work on your Volkswagen Eos, I would recommend the Swagman XTC-2 Platform Bike Rack, part # S64670. This...

  • Recommended Bike Rack Compatible With a 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon With OEM Hitch Receiver
  • I do have a solution for you, but from the research that I have done it looks like the OEM 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch receiver that you have on your 2017 Subaru Outback is a Class I hitch; you can look on it to confirm if it is a Class I or not. In that case, my contact at Softride said that none of their bike racks are compatible with Class I receivers. This means that the Dura Parallelogram # SR26247 is not compatible with your current receiver. Since you can only carry a maximum of...

  • Locking Hitch Pin Recommendation for a Carpod Cargo Carrier on a 2007 Toyota 4Runner Sport
  • The Softride Locking, Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin, # SR25219, is an excellent choice to secure a Carpod basket to your 2007 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition. This hitch pin will not only keep your basket secure, but it will keep the shank of the cargo basket tight against the receiver tube with the anti-rattle device. We carry two Carpod baskets and they are the Carpod Walled, Folding Cargo Carrier, # M2205, and the Walled, Fixed Cargo Carrier, # M2200. I would recommend using the Folding Cargo...

  • Recommended Bike Rack to Fit a 2007 Jeep Liberty with Rear Spare Tire
  • We have several options for your 2007 Jeep Liberty. The easiest and best route to go with is to purchase a rack that has a long enough extension to clear your rear mounted wheel and tire combination. To do this you will need to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your receiver hitch to the farthest out part of your rear wheel or tire. Once you have this measurement you can select a bike rack with enough clearance to clear the spare tire. We have several models of bike racks...

  • Quality Hitch Bike Rack Recommendation for 4 New Mountain Bikes with Disc Brakes
  • The Softride Dura Parallelogram, item # SR26247, is a very nice rack. It has some unique features like the arms that remain level when the rack is tilted away from the vehicle and the removeable arms for ease of storage. This rack will fit in a Class II or larger hitch. Another 4 bike rack I would have you consider is the Yakima HoldUp, item # Y02443, along with the Plus 2 Adapter for HoldUp 2 Bike Carrier, 2 inch Hitches, item # Y02446. This rack is a wheel mount style for ease of...

  • Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin Recommendation for a Yakima Bike Rack with a 2 Inch Shank
  • You can use the Softride Locking, Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin, # SR25219, as long as the shank of your Yakima bike rack is hollow. The block will insert into the shank of the bike rack and the threaded pin will thread through and lock. If your Yakima bike rack has a threaded insert in the shank, then it should have come with a threaded pin. If this is the case, then let me know the model of your bike rack and I can see if we have a replacement pin for your bike rack. If the threaded insert...

  • 2002 Honda Odyssey Class III 2 Inch Receiver Hitch and Swing Away 4 Bike Rack Recommendations
  • For your 2002 Honda Odyssey Trailer Hitch I would recommend the Draw-Tite # 75270. This is a Class III hitch that has a tongue weight capacity of up to 350 pounds, and a 2 inch receiver opening. Please review your Honda Odyssey owners manual and check the vehicles tongue weight capacity and make sure that you do not exceed the lowest of the weight capacities in your system. For a bike rack that will hold 4 bikes, that is easy to operate and load, I would recommend the Softride Element...

  • Product Comparison Between Softride Dura # SR26247 and Element # SR26248 Bike Racks
  • The arms of the Softride Dura, # SR26247 do not fold, but they are easily and quickly removable. Both the Element and the Dura use a spring loaded pull pin that remains in place. It does not need to be completely removed and reinserted. A cable lock that would retro-fit to the Element is not available, but we have several cable type bike locks available, like the Master Lock Python, part # 8428DPS that would work well with the Element. There are two other important distinctions between...

  • Will Softride Element Bike Rack Fit 2011 Subaru Outback 2" Trailer Hitch with no Hatch Interference
  • On your Draw-Tite trailer hitch for your 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon, the hole that is closest to the face of the receiver opening is not a hitch pin hole. It is a hole designed for a J-pin anti-rattle device, # 63201. So the important measurement is the actual hitch pin hole which you measured at 6-1/4 inches from the back of the bumper. On the Softride Element, # SR26248, it measure 7 inches back from the center of the hitch pin hole. This is enough to clear the bumper. The way this...

  • Can Small Kids Bikes be Used on the Softride Dura Parallelogram Hitch Mounted Bike Rack
  • The outside width measurement for the arms on the Softride Dura is about 8-3/4 inches. They make the arms fairly narrow so that small children bikes can be hung properly. If you do not already have some, adapter bars may be worth taking a look at to hold the bikes level. I have added a link to the bike rack adapter page as well as to a video on the Softride racks showing childrens bikes being used.

  • Locking Hitch Pin Recommendation for a Softride Element Parallelogram Bike Rack
  • Since the Softride Element Parallelogram Tilting 4 Bike Rack # SR26248 you referenced has a threaded shank you will want to use a Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Bolt for 2 inch Softride Hitch Racks # SR25056. The Stainless Steel Locking, Anti-Rattle Threaded Hitch Pin # SR25219 that you referenced is designed to work on accessories with hollow shanks and would not work for your rack.

  • Personally, I like the SlientACT # SHP2082 because it does thread in but then you use the cam lever to quickly tighten or loosen it. I have linked a video review of it for you. Or another option I think you will like is the Pro Series lock and anti-rattle device # PS63100. This one uses a longer block so that it cannot turn when inside of the shank rather than relying on a spring for retention. I have linked a video of this one as well. For either of these options I recommend used...

  • Tailgate Pad-Style Bike Carrier for 2016 Ram Limited 2500
  • The tailgate pad style bike carriers such as the # SR26461 aren't vehicle specific. To determine which one would work for your truck, simply measure the width of your tailgate. The # SR26461 is designed for tailgates that are about 54 inches wide. According to Softride, the # SR26461 would work best on a mid sized truck like a Chevy Colorado. For a full size truck like your new Ram, I'd recommend the Softride Shuttle Pad, part # SR26457. If you click the provided link, you can see...

  • What Are Cargo Management Rails And How Do They Work With Truck Bed Bike Racks 2014 Toyota Tundra

With these internal side rails installed you can add cross bars which will then give you two layers of cargo carrying ability. It is not necessary to use, but it is an inexpensive way to make sure that your bike is as stable as can be.
