Benton Roof Box for easy extra storage
Hitting the road is simpler with a Benton roof box built for everyday hauling. Expect basic assembly and a locking setup that may take a little patience, but it rides solid once mounted to your crossbars. For fit, measure crossbar spread from the outside of the front bar to the outside of the rear, and if you'll see heavy rain, bag anything that absolutely must stay dry.
The lock can be hard to engage. Close and align the lid carefully, then turn the key with patience to get it to lock and release. Make sure the red swinging links inside clear the bayonet locking pins before locking, and seat the hinges and struts correctly during assembly.
They are not considered waterproof. They do a great job keeping cargo dry, but in super heavy rain some water can get in. If something has to stay dry, put it in plastic bags before loading.
A longer cable isn't available at this time. Allow extra time to route and wrap the included cable around your roof rack during installation.
They do not come fully assembled. Assembly is straightforward, but connecting the struts to the lid can feel tricky until you get the angle right. Getting your crossbars in the right place makes installation go faster the next time.
Measure from the outside of the front crossbar to the outside of the rear crossbar. Then compare to the spread range listed for the box you're considering. If mounting takes longer than expected, adjust bar spacing to match the mounting locations.
