Thule Passage Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Taurus

Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus, we'll be testing the Thule Passage Trunk Mounted Two Bike Rack, Part number TH910XT. We'll begin our test fit by placing the bottom part of the truck rack onto the upper tier of the rear bumper. Now, we'll need to set the fit down to number 8, which is customized to fit the trunk. We'll need to remove the two black wing nuts on the inner left and right hand part of the bike rack. We'll raise the top arms up, lining up the holes in fit dial, and then re-installing the wing nut. We can now put the top clips on the upper edge of the trunk, and then the side clips on the side of the trunk just above the tail lights, as well as the bottom clips to the bottom part of the trunk. Now you will need to open up the trunk to get the side and bottom clips in place. You want to tighten down the left hand side and the right hand side just a little bit at a time to make sure the rack stays centered on the trunk.



Yakima QuickBack 2 Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Taurus

Speaker: Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus, well be test fitting the Yakima QuickBack Trunk Mounted 2 Bike Rack, part number Y02621. Well begin our test fit by placing the bike rack up onto the vehicles trunk, making sure the bottom part of the bike rack is on the upper tier of the rear bumper and the top part of the bike rack is on the center of the trunk. Well take the top clips and hook them on the top part of the trunk, the side clips to the side part of the trunk above the taillights and the bottom clips to the bottom part of the trunk. Well then tighten down the straps to secure the trunk rack to the vehicle. Now when tightening them down, you want to tighten down each side a little bit at a time, just to make sure the bike rack stays centered. Once everything is all tightened down and secured, well secure the excess strap with the included strap keep. We can now loosen up the red knob on the upper right-hand corner of the bike rack and swing out our cradle arms, keeping in mind the cradle arms do need to be level or slightly angled up. Once theyre in position, we can tighten on the red knob and secure them in place.



Thule Gateway Trunk Mount Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Taurus

Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus, we will be test fitting the Thule gateway trunk mounted 2 bike rack, part number TH9006XT. With the fit dial set to number 8, according to included instructions, we will being our test fit by placing the bike rack up onto the vehicles trunk, making sure the bottom part of the bike rack rests on the upper tier of the rear bumper, and the top part of the bike rack rests on the top part of the trunk near the rear window. With the bike rack in place, I'll take the top hooks and hook them to the top part of the trunk, and tighten down the silver cam 00:28 buckles. I'm not going to tighten the straps all the way, just using these to hold the bike rack in place. I then put the side hooks to the side part of the trunk above the taillights, and the bottom hooks to the bottom part of the trunk. Keeping in mind you may need to open up the trunk to get the clips in place. Once all 6 clips are in place, we will then tighten down the straps to secure the rack to the trunk.



Thule Helium Aero Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Taurus

Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus we're going to be test fitting the Thule Helium Aero, a tilting 2-bike rack for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches, part number TH9042. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. As we do this we'll want to hold out on the black attached pin. We'll line up our pinholes, allow that attached pin the fall into the pinhole, and then we'll tighten the black knob. This engages our anti-rattle device and further secures the rack to our vehicle. The knob is very close to making contact with the underside of the bumper on our Taurus here.



Swagman Jackknife Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Taurus

Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus, were going to be test fitting the Swagman JackKnife, a tilting two bike rack for 1-1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number S63450. To begin our test fit, well slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. We can then secure it using the provided clip. In this position, we have about 9 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 7 inches away. Pulling the red knob at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle and to its platform position.

Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Vertex, a tilting 4-bike rack for 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number TH9029. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pinholes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. In this position, we have about 9 1/4 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is only about 1/4 inch away. However, when manipulating the rack, we couldn't get it to make contact. Overall, we've added about 11 inches to the length of the Taurus. Pull the grey lever located at the base of the center mast will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle.

With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the 2 fit together. We have about 13 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 3 inches away and we've added about 18 inches to the overall length of our Taurus. We can now lift up on the black lever at the top of the mast and swing the cradle arms of the rack outward.

Overall we've added about 23" to the length of our Taurus. Pulling the two black pins located on the outside here at the rear of the rack will allow us to tilt down our wheel cradles.



Saris Bones Trunk Mount 3 Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Taurus

Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus, well be test fitting the Saris Bones Trunk Mounted Three Bike Rack in grey, part number SA801. Well begin our test by placing the bottom legs of the bike rack on the upper tier of the rear bumper. Well then need to adjust the top arms by loosening the black knob on the left and right hand side of the bike rack. Well make sure the top legs are about centered on the trunk. Once the knobs are loose, youll need to slide the legs off of the grooves so that you can rotate the leg to fit in position. Once you have them in position, you can tighten the black knobs to secure them in place.Now there are three types of clamps on this bike rack that are labeled.

To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll line up our pinholes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt from the left to the right, and tighten it down with a wrench. In this position we have about 10-1/4" worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is only about 1" away. However, whenever we try to manipulate it we can't get it to make contact. Overall we've added about 9-1/2" to the length of the Taurus. Pulling the gold pin and clip at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle into its platform position.

Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus, we're going to be test fitting the Softride Dura Parallelogram, a tilting four bike rack for 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number SR26247. Saris Bike Porter Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Taurus

Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus, we'll be test fitting the Saris Bike Porter, a tilting 4 bike rack for inch and a quarter and 2 inch hitches, part number SA404B. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pinholes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. We can then secure it with the provided clip. In this position, we have about 9 and a quarter inch of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 5 inches away. Overall, we've added about 10 and a quarter inches to the length of our Taurus. Lifting on the yellow ring at the base of the center mass will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle. As you can see this gives us great access into the trunk. With our mast back in its upright position, we'll now pull up on the yellow ring located at the top of the mast.



Saris Axis 3 Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Taurus

Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus, we will be test fitting the Saris Axis three bike rack for 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number SA43B. We will start by sliding the shank of the rack into the hitch. We'll line up the pin holes, thread in the anti-rattle bolt from driver to passenger side, tighten it down with a wrench and secure it with a lock on the other side. With the rack installed in this position, we have roughly 10 inches of ground clearance. The nearest point from the rack to the bumper is just about 3 1/2 inches and we've added almost 13 inches of overall length to our Taurus. To extend the arms, go ahead and clip the quick release tabs and unscrew them just a little bit.



Saris Axis Tilting 2 Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Taurus

Today on our 2014 Ford Taurus, we will be test fitting the Saris Axis two bike rack, for 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number SA832. We will start by inserting the shank of the bike rack into the trailer hitch. We'll line up the pin holes, thread in the anti-rattle bolt from the driver to passenger side, tighten it down with a wrench, and secure it with a lock on the other side. With the rack installed in this position, we have roughly 9 inches of ground clearance. The closest part from the rack to the bumper is about 4 inches and we've added about 13 inches of overall length to our Taurus. Now at the bottom of the mast, we can go ahead and pull the lever out.

After lining up the pinholes, we'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tighten it down using a wrench and then secure it with a clip on the other side. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 9 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 2 inches away and we've added about 30 inches to the overall length of our Taurus. With our bike rack in this position, we do have access to the trunk. To be able to load larger cargo, we can remove the silver pin at the base of the bike rack and tilt the mast of the rack down. To load up a bike, we'll need to make sure the mast of the rack is in its upright position.
