Thule Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on our 2008 Chevrolet Silverado we're doing a test-fit of the Thule GateMate Tailgate Pad and Bike Rack, that part number is TH824. This is designed to work with full-sized trucks, so we already have it placed on our vehicle. All we had to do was set it just over the edge here, and make sure that our bumpers on each end are facing up. What that's going to do is prevent anything from sliding off of your tailgate pad. The next thing we'll do is open up our hook and loop cover here, and we're just going to open the tailgate. I find this is the easiest way because I am too short to reach over the top of the tailgate to feed my straps though. I'm just going to straighten my strap out and feed it through underneath into the crack here between the tailgate and the bed of the truck.

Thule Domestique Roof Bike Rack Review - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on our 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, we'll be test fitting the Thule Domestique roof-mounted bike carrier, part number TH513. We'll begin our test fit by placing the carrier onto the vehicle's load bars. We'll then remove the skewer, allowing us to access the two front bolts at the head of the carrier. We'll then loosen up the bolts at the front of the carrier, as well as the rear of the carrier, to bring both brackets underneath the front and rear load bar. Once we have the brackets in place, we can then use the Allen key to tighten down the Allen bolts to bring the brackets up tightly around the load bars. Once everything is secure and tightened down, we're ready to load up our bike.

Swagman Fork Down Roof Bike Rack Review - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on our 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, we'll be test fitting the Swagman Fork Down roof-mounted bike carrier, part number S64710. We'll begin our test fit by placing the carrier onto the vehicle's load bars. We'll then take the two silver brackets to bring around the underside of the front load bar and use the black wing nut to thread onto the bracket to secure the front of the carrier to the front load bar. We'll then move to the rear, where this time we'll slide the black bracket onto the top of the rear load bar and insert the black plate onto the threads of the downward bolt. We'll then thread on our black wing nut to secure the rear of the carrier to the rear load bar. Now with everything secured and tightened down, we're ready to load up our bike.

RockyMounts TieRod Stretch Roof Bike Rack Review - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on our 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, we'll be test fitting the RockyMounts Tierod Stretch roof-mounted bike carrier, part number RKY1011. We'll begin our test fit by first placing the carrier onto the vehicle's load bars. We'll remove the black plastic cover at the head of the carrier to bring the rubber-coated steel straps around the underside of the front load bar. We then can move to the rear, where we will loosen up the Allen bolt to bring the rear bracket around the underside of the rear load bar. We'll then thread in the Allen bolt through the bracket and tighten it down with a wrench. Now with the rear secure, we'll head back up to the front of the carrier, where we'll use the Allen key to turn the silver bolt at the head of the carrier to bring the straps up around tightly against the front load bar.

Thule Big Mouth Roof Bike Rack Review - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on our 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Series, we'll be test fitting the Thule Big Mouth roof-mounted bike rack, part number TH599XTR. With the Thule square bar roof rack system assembled onto our vehicle, we'll begin our test fit by placing the Big Mouth directly onto our load bars. Here at the front, we'll loosen up the clamps so that we can bring them around our front bar. We'll put the bolts back through the appropriate slots on the clamp, and use the wing nuts at the top to tighten it down. Once we have the front secured, we can move to the rear. We'll undo the wing nuts, remove our bracket, and then fit our clamp around our rear bar.
