What is a ball mount, and why do I need one?
A ball mount connects your hitch receiver to your trailer and provides a platform for the hitch ball.
How do I choose the right ball mount?
Measure the height difference between your hitch and trailer coupler to determine the drop needed and choose a mount with the correct weight capacity.
What’s the difference between fixed and adjustable ball mounts?
Fixed mounts have a set height, while adjustable mounts allow you to change height for different trailers.
How do I know if I need a rise or a drop?
If your hitch sits higher than your trailer coupler, you need a drop. If the coupler is higher, you need a rise.
Can I use a ball mount that doesn’t exactly match the height I measured?
It’s best to match as closely as possible. An unlevel trailer can affect handling and tire wear.
Which is better—steel or aluminum ball mounts?
Steel is super strong and great for heavy loads, but it can rust over time. Aluminum resists corrosion and is lighter, making it a good option for everyday use.Check out our FAQ on Steel vs. Aluminum Ball Mounts if you need more info.
