Generally speaking, it is recommend that you remove the spring bars from a weight distribution system such as the Curt Trunnion Style Weight Distribution System part # 17300 while in reverse. This is due to the fact the the spring bars will not have enough room to pivot in the head while turning in reverse.
However, this will only occur while reversing with the trailer at an angle. As long as you remain in a straight line, you will not need to remove the spring bars in order to reverse... view full answer...
I reached out to Roadmaster, who told me when installing the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400 in your 2014 Ford Edge Limited with push-button start. This is what they told me:
"You want a designated line for the relay. The load demand on the charge line is limited, so stay with the using the tail light circuit." view full answer...
In order to charge the battery in your trailer, you will need to run a wire from the 12 volt circuit on your vehicle to the positive post of your trailer batter. This will allow you to keep the battery charged, though if the battery is dead, you will need to use a charger such as the CTEK # CTEK56353. view full answer...
The reason the trailer wiring harnesses that have powered modules like the # 118551 run a wire up to the vehicle battery directly and not to an "easier" power source is because this protects the delicate wiring of your vehicle from shorts. If a short in the trailer wiring was connected to a different power source it potentially can damage that circuit whereas if it goes straight to the battery there's no risk of your vehicle wiring getting damaged. view full answer...
The springs on the side of the Replacement Master Cylinder Assembly for Titan Model 6 Brake Actuators part # T1777405 are designed to pull the bracket and plunger back into position when applying the brakes in your tow vehicle to release the brake fluid. If you have a Titan Model 6 Brake Actuator then the correct master cylinder assembly will have these springs. I think you may be looking at the Master Cylinder for Model 6 Drum Brake Actuators part # T1027100 which is just simply one component... view full answer...
I believe you are talking about the diagrams that are lower on the product page, below the description and specs, for # RM-154. There are 4 of these diagrams. I have included a picture that shows them all for you. Please note that the diode kit is not recommended if your 2015 Ford Edge has LED tail lights. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation for you.
If your Edge has LED lights I recommend Roadmaster # RM-2120 which will bypass the factory wiring so you won't... view full answer...
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13234 should still allow you to activate the hands-free liftgate as it has been tested. In the attached video of this trailer hitch on a 2015 Ford Edge you can see our installer activating the liftgate by passing his foot under the trailer hitch but typically what we see is that you have to use a kicking motion as if you are kicking a ball.
I have attached a photo showing the best locations to try activating a liftgate when a trailer hitch is installed... view full answer...
To install the a brake monitor light on your 2017 Tiffin Allegro Red you will want to use the brake controller port that will be to the left of the steering wheel under the dash. The actual part number for that connector from Freightliner is PAC 12064754. This part should work for all Freightliner Chassis from 2004 to 2017.
The connector is a 6 wire connector with a cap on it. I attached a photo showing it with the cap in place and removed. There are 5 wires going into the back of the... view full answer...
Powered trailer wiring harnesses like # C56292 have a direct connection to the battery for 2 reasons. First, it powers the trailer lights instead of drawing the power and the signals all through the vehicle tail light wiring. This helps protect the vehicle wiring. And second it offers additional circuit protection beyond what a non-powered converter can.
If wired into a rear power port that port could be overdrawn or a short on the trailer side could cause that power port and anything... view full answer...
That is correct. The intake pipe on the # DOM33FR is not threaded, but instead has two rubber gaskets to ensure a water tight seal on the pipe. view full answer...
Your assessment is correct. On the Thule Interstate cargo bag, # TH869, the side straps are for the bag itself while the front and rear straps are designed to hold the bag to the roof rack crossbars. I have included a link to a video review of this bag for you. view full answer...
According to the owner's manual of your 2014 Ford Edge, your vehicle can only be flat towed if you have a 3.5L or 3.7L 6-cylinder engine. If you have a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, you need to use a tow dolly.
If you do have a 6-cylinder engine and are flat towing your vehicle, the instructions for putting your transmission in neutral are as follows:
- Release the parking brake.
- Place the transmission in position N.
- Place the ignition in the accessory position.

It sounds like you do not have the 12 volt power supply installed correctly. The 12 volt power supply like the one on the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56120 which is a fit for your 2012 Ford Edge will need to be ran directly to the battery with the included 10 amp fuse placed 6" from the positive terminal. You cannot use any other power source for the wiring harness and it sounds like you may have it tied into an interior lighting circuit which is why the lights only... view full answer...
Determining the mounting locations of your E-Track, part # E19148, will depend on the construction of your trailer and personal preference. If you are mounting the E-Track on the bed of your trailer, to tie down a car or similar item, you will need to determine the best position for the vehicle or item and the best situation for installing the E-Track.
You may need to install bracing under the bed of the trailer to get enough mounting points for a secure installation. It sounds as if... view full answer...
It sounds like you have a pretty good handle on what you need.
I'd recommend you begin by choosing a brake controller. I'd recommend a proportional controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. A proportional controller has internal sensors that can determine how quickly the tow vehicle is braking, and then send the proper amount of voltage to the trailer brakes so that the vehicle and the trailer brake at the same rate. This leads to safer, more predictable braking. To install... view full answer...
There are a set of installation instructions included with the Curt Custom Wiring Harness, # C56120. I have also attached a link to the instructions for you to check out. The instructions even include photos of the installation process.
To install this wiring harness on your 2013 Ford Edge, you will need to gain access to the back of the tail light assemblies. This is done by removing two bolts that hold the tail lights in place. Once you remove the tail light assembly, you will see a... view full answer...
The Rhino-Rack Vortex crossbars that are designed to fit your 2019 Ford Edge are the 54" Crossbars # RRVA137B-2 (along with the 2500 Series Legs # RRRLKVA and Fit Kit # DK432).
For the 54" bars your strip length measurement is 150mm. If you're going to be using longer crossbars than what Rhino-Rack calls for then you'll need to adjust the strip length accordingly. Essentially you'll just want to make sure the crossbars are centered on the 2500 Series Legs.
If you need new rubber strips... view full answer...
According to what I've read in the owner's manual, your Edge can indeed be flat towed if the specific procedures listed in the owner's manual are followed precisely. To flat tow your Edge, hook up to the motorhome then press and hold the brake to the floor. Start the vehicle and shift into Neutral with the brake pedal still pressed then turn off the vehicle. On a keyless start equipped vehicle, push the keyless start button one to shut off. If the vehicle has an ignition key, turn the vehicle... view full answer...
The owner's manual for the Roadmaster Tow Dolly part # RM-2050-1 does indeed state that when using this dolly with a front wheel drive (FWD) vehicle, you will need to place the transmission in PARK, not NEUTRAL. The reason for this is because the front wheels need to be secured on the ramp and not moving back and forth as the motorhome brakes and accelerates. The rear wheels will still be able to spin freely while in park so long as the emergency brake is not applied. view full answer...
The video for the 2010 Ford Edge and wiring harness # 118551 is being fixed but it will be basically identical to the video for the 2009 which I have linked for you to the right.
We have not had a chance to install all of the hitches we have available for your vehicle on a 2010 model but the hitches fit a range of years of the Ford Edge because the platform is the same for all model years of that generation. So a video for a 2009 or 2011 for example would show the same process as it will... view full answer...
