Great question! The only hitch that we have that will not interfere with the sensor at all for the 2025 Subaru Forester is the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 306-X7391. Hey Frank, good question. The main reason the EcoHitch # 306-X7391 is rated higher than the Curt # C47HR is because each company has different standards for their hitches. The EcoHitch has extra material holding the receiver to the crosstube so it can be tested to higher standards to get the higher 525 lb weight rating. I went ahead and reached out to the Subaru OEM parts website and was able to confirm that the same hitch will work for the both the 2025 Forester and the Wilderness Edition. So that means that the frame on the vehicle is the same (at least at the rear of the vehicle) even if the body is different. Hey Jeff! The Curt # C13409 will not completely block the kick sensor on your 2025 Subaru Forester Limited. However, I would expect to have to place your foot on either side of the receiver to activate it. The same is true for any hitch you choose to install on your vehicle.
Also, this does have a visible cross tube hanging down. A hitch like the Curt # C47HR will work as well and has a nice clean look with a concealed cross tube and better clearance. Check it out in the attached photo.

Hey Ryan, so both style of hitches that you referenced are going to work great for carrying a bike rack. The differences that you'd want to weigh would be do you prefer the more hidden look of the hitches like the Curt part # C47HR which is more intricate to install or are you okay with a more visible hitch that happens to install a little bit easier like the Curt # C13409.
The more hidden hitch is a bit more expensive too.

For the 2026 Subaru Forester Premium, the EcoHitch # 306-X7391 is my recommendation if you're planning to use a hitch hauler.
This EcoHitch has a concealed cross tube, so only the receiver is visible. It also allows the hands free liftgate feature to remain functional.
No hitch will completely avoid affecting the hands free sensor since the receiver sits near the center of the bumper, but with the EcoHitch installed, we've heard the liftgate still works... view full answer...
From the looks of it, it does not look like your older Thule 725 Flat Top can be used with the top tracks. This carrier uses the universal mounting system and does not have an option to use the t-slots.

Hey Justin, some of the feedback we've gotten is that the handsfree liftgate is not functional after the install of the etrailer hitch part # e83ZR but we have had customers tell us it did still work like in the comments below. Everything we offer says it won't work with the hands free liftgate but the one that I think would have least chance of preventing it from working would be the Curt # C47HR since only the hitch opening hangs below the rear bumper. Hey Trent, I have a couple options for your 2025 Subaru Forester with tire size 235/50-19. First we do have tire cables like your manual mentions can be used with the part # PW1042. These will work and get you around but they are generally a one-time-use type solution which the price reflects that.

Although Curt doesn't specifically say for your vehicle that it interferes or not, there is a chance it does. Any hitch like the # C47HR is installed where the sensor sits on the vehicle. I have seen cases where there has been no interference, and some cases where they just need to move their foot to the right or the left of the hitch. So essentially it is hard to know for sure. Hey David. I would go with a different ball mount if you're concerned about being able to adjust in 1-1/2" increments. I recommend the etrailer Adjustable 2-Ball Mount item # e66PR. Comparably it's pretty similar to the Bulletproof item # BPH79MR you were looking at. Plus it'll save you a couple bucks.

We actually have the Malone 65" version as a whole kit with the AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Aero Crossbars - Raised Side Rails - Aluminum - 65" Long - Black # MAL24AR. Not sure why we don't have this listed for your 2024 Subaru Forester Wilderness, but it will clamp on to those raised rails without issues. Hey Will thanks for the question! The Curt Hitch item # C13409 is compatible with the automatic tailgate switch on your 2025 Subaru Forester. You'll lose some of the sensors range around the 2" receiver but you're not going to want to be kicking in that area anyways once you get it installed.
