Hey Frank, good question. The main reason the EcoHitch # 306-X7391 is rated higher than the Curt # C47HR is because each company has different standards for their hitches. The EcoHitch has extra material holding the receiver to the crosstube so it can be tested to higher standards to get the higher 525 lb weight rating. EcoHitch also uses a stainless steel receiver which can help with the higher ratings. Nothing against the Curt hitches at all, but if your goal is to get the strongest hidden hitch for your 2024 Subaru Forester, the EcoHitch # 306-X7391 is the way to go.

What do you plan to use the hitch for? Will you be doing some towing? Or just a bike rack or cargo carrier?

No towing. Mostly Kuat nv bike rack but occasionally the 4 bike extender totaling 90lbs with 4 enduro bikes close to 250lbs. Well under the curts 350, my concern is the leverage from having weight so far out from the tongue.

@FrankM Oh yea for that definitely go with the EcoHitch. Otherwise you are going to be cutting it super close. Too close in my opinion. From a peace of mind and safety standpoint you will absolutely want to go with a higher rated hitch. I actually use the Kuat NV (2 bike) as my personal rack and I like it a lot. Had it about 4 years now :)

For clarification, the rack and 4 bikes total at most 250lbs. 100 lbs below Curt’s 350 tongue rating.

@FrankM Oh ok I misread your l last post and I see that now. I thought you were saying 250 lbs plus the 90 so like 340 total. With the 250 lbs TOTAL including all 4 bikes and the rack, the Curt # C47HR hitch will be just fine. There would be absolutely zero concern of overloading the hitch or anything like that. If you like the idea of the increase capacity (and the stainless receiver) the EcoHitch will also do. Looking at the price difference I would do the Curt. Sorry for the confusion.
