Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Hopkins plug-in vehicle wiring harness with the four-way flat trailer connector. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2001 to 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles. And on a custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show if this a work free application. Now this harness here will provide this four-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights.
It is compatible with five-pole, six-pole, and seven-pole adapters that we do sell separately. This does connect very quickly and easily. Basically what you'll do is take your connectors right here and you'll locate your connection point behind the tail lights. And what you'll do is you have two connectors. You'll take the one with the yellow wire in it, that's for the driver's side, make the connection on your driver's side.
And then the other connect with the green wire that's for your passenger side. You'll run this length of wire over to the passenger side. And then once they're all plugged in, what you'll do is take this ground wire, connect this, you see the eyelid on it, to a nice nearby ground. Run your four-way out towards the trailer, and you're pretty much already to hook up and go. Now it does include this box here.
It's a circuit protected tail light converter, and this is to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of your trailer. It does provide protection against electrical shorts and overloads. It is a power module so it connects directly to the battery to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. And if you notice on the bottom, it has a piece of double face tape connected to it. You do wanna attach this to a nice flat surface so it doesn't bounce around.
It does also come with, you can see the dust cap for the four-way. So basically what you'll wanna do is just attach this to your plug and you can leave it attached. You don't have to take it off and put it back on. You can leave it attached. And when you're not plugged into your trailer, just go ahead and put this on there, and it'll protect the terminals from any damage or from the elements. Also comes with a couple cable ties. Take up any slack in the wiring. And a little container or little packet of terminal grease. Terminal grease you wanna put on all your electrical connections when you go to push 'em to make your connections. But that should do it for the review on this Hopkins plug-in vehicle wiring harness with the four-Way flat trailer connector.
I did the wiring installation but took the hitch to my favorite mechanic since he has a lift. They installed it on my 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe, for a good price and did the job quite quickly.
We towed our popup camper several hundred miles going and coming and had no problems with it. It is sturdy, well built, and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a good strong trailer hitch.
The electrical connections I bought from you for my hitch work perfectly in the easy to follow instructions we're great
easy to install; already put it to a 900 mile pulling task.
works good
Plug it in and go... very simple.. service excellent
Looks to work well for me
