Wiring up a trailer doesn’t have to mean cutting into the factory wires. This Curt T-Connector plugs straight into the vehicle’s existing wiring, giving you a clean 4-flat trailer connector without any splicing. It’s a true plug-and-play setup that keeps the factory wiring intact and makes the job simple for anyone tackling a DIY install.
The harness uses a hidden powered converter so everything stays neatly tucked away. Power comes directly from the converter instead of pulling from the vehicle lights, helping protect the electrical system while giving reliable trailer signal output. It’s a tidy install that looks like it came that way from the factory.
Even if your vehicle didn’t come with a tow package, this harness has you covered. The 4-flat plug provides running lights, brake lights, and turn signals for trailers that use standard wiring. The included lead gives you enough length to reach the hitch without stretching or rerouting wires.
This wiring harness is made for folks who like to handle towing setups themselves. The vehicle-end connector design matches up with factory plugs to make installation straightforward and repeatable. Once connected, it’s ready for trailer hookup—no extra parts or adapters needed to get your lights working right.

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna take a look at this Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with Four Pole Flat Trailer Connector. Now this harness is designed to fit the 2021 and newer Kia K5. Take advantage of our vehicle fit guide on our website to confirm that this is going to work for your vehicle. You just need to input the year, make and model of your vehicle, and our fit guide will let you know if this works. This harness is going to provide a four pole flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle, to power your trailer signal lights.
It's compatible with five pole, six pole and seven pole adapters. However those adapters are sold separately. Included is a dust cap for the four pole flat connector. And that dust cap is gonna cover up those connection points when the plug is not being used. This black box on the harness is a powered module converter and it is going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer.
It connects directly to your vehicle's battery to avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system, reducing strain on your vehicle's wiring system. Curt builds each of these converters using surface mount technology for a consistent, reliable performance. It's gonna maximize the trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat. While ensuring superior operation in rough road conditions. Now this harness is designed to connect quickly and easily.
The connections with the yellow wire that I have here, are gonna go on the driver's side. And the connections with the green wire are gonna go to the passenger side of the vehicle, and you will need to locate your vehicle's taillight wiring harness behind the driver's side and passenger side taillights. And you're just gonna have to remove the taillight assemblies to access this harness. And then you will separate the taillight connectors being careful not to break the locking tabs and then just insert these T-Connector ends between the vehicles wiring connectors and then you'll just lock them into place. Now, these T-Connectors are custom fit for your vehicle.
So they're gonna match up perfectly with the connection points on your vehicle and they're gonna snap and lock together for a tight, secure fit. Now, once you have these plugged in you will need to make a good ground connection. And this ground wire, this white wire here is the ground wire. As you can see, it does have a ring terminal attached to it and it comes with a self tapping screw so that you can get this grounded to a suitable location such as your vehicle's frame or cross member, you just wanna make sure that the surface is clean and rust free. You will then need to mount your converter box to a safe out of the way location. And you can do that with another mounting screw or with this included double-sided adhesive tape, or with one of the cable ties that comes with the kit, and next you will need to run the hot lead to the vehicle battery. And that's gonna be this short black wire coming out of our converter box. And this short black wire will get connected to one end of this bundle of black wire using one of the butt connectors here. And then the other end of the bundle is gonna get routed to your vehicle's battery. And once you have this other end routed to the battery you will just take this fuse holder and cut the yellow wire in half and connect one of the wires with a second butt connector that we have here and then you will take the other half of this fuse holder and attach this ring terminal. And then this ring terminal will connect to the positive post of your vehicles battery. It does come with a 15 amp fuse and that is gonna go into this holder, and it also has this fuse cap here that is going to keep the fuse in there, safe and protected. And then you can cinch up any slack of your wires especially this black hot lead wire that's gonna be going underneath your vehicle. You can tighten any, tighten that up with the included cable ties, you will have plenty here to make sure that you don't have any slack in the wire or any wire hanging in such a way that it could get damaged. Now, once this insulation is complete the four way flat connector will be stowed in an out of the way location on the driver's side of the vehicle behind the trunk liner. The maximum amperage for the stop turn lights is gonna be five amps per circuit. And for the taillights 7.5 amps per circuit. Instructions are included. It is also recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all of your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the four pole flat connector itself. That grease is designed to help prevent electrical failures caused by corrosion and moisture. You can find some, a tube of that grease on our website using item number 11755. Well, that's gonna do it for our look today at this wiring harness. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..
