Wiring a trailer doesn’t have to mean cutting factory wires. The Curt T-Connector plugs directly into the vehicle’s existing tail light connectors, so everything stays clean and untouched. It’s truly plug-and-play, giving you a 4-flat trailer connector ready for running lights, turn signals, and brake lights in one simple setup.
This harness tucks in behind panels and connects at the vehicle end, keeping the factory wiring protected and out of sight. You get a hidden connection that looks neat and professional once installed. It’s a solid way to add trailer lighting without altering or exposing any of your vehicle’s wiring.
The built-in powered converter draws power directly from the vehicle battery instead of overloading the tail light circuits. This keeps the lighting signals stable and consistent, even when towing with multiple bulbs on the trailer. It’s designed to handle the electrical load safely while maintaining reliable operation.
The 4-flat connector covers the basics—running lights, turn signals, and brake lights—so you’re set for most small or mid-size trailers. It’s a standard connection type that works with boat trailers, campers, and utility haulers alike. With a secure plug and lead design, it’s dependable every time you hook up.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this CURT T-Connector vehicle wiring harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector. Now, this wiring harness is designed specifically for your 2022 Hyundai Kona and your 2023 Kona excluding electric. Now, on custom fit parts such as this wiring harness, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. Insert the year, make, and model of your vehicle, and our fit guide will confirm if this will work for you, or if we have something comparable that will work for you.
Now, this harness is going to give you a 4-pole flat trailer connector, at the back of your Kona to power your trailer signal lights. This is also going to be compatible with five-pole, six-pole, and seven-pole adapters. And those adapters are sold separately. And as you can see here, included is a dust cap for this four-pole flat connector and that dust cap is going to cover up those contact points there when this plug is not being in with if this, when this plug is not in use. So that's gonna protect it from dust and debris, and moisture, things like that.
Now, on this harness, we do have this black box. and this black box is a powered taillight converter. This is going to ensure that your Kona's wiring matches that of your trailer. It connects directly to your Kona's battery to avoid overloading your electrical system, reducing strain on your Kona's wiring system. And by the way, CURT does build each converter using surface-mount technology for consistent, reliable performance.
It maximizes trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat, ensuring superior operation in rough road conditions. Now, this harness is designed to connect quickly and easily. You will need to locate your Kona's wiring harness behind the driver's side and passenger side taillight assemblies. You will have to remove those assemblies to access that harness. And once you locate the connectors, you're then going to separate the connectors, and you do wanna be careful that you don't break the locking tabs.
And then you're going to insert the T-connector ends between the Kona's wiring connectors, and lock them into place. These T-connectors are custom fitted for your Kona, so they're gonna match up perfectly with the connection points on your vehicle, and they're gonna snap and lock together for a tight, secure fit. So once you have these plugged in, you will wanna make a good ground connection. And the ground wire is this white wire here with a ring terminal attached to it. And it does come with a self-tapping screw that you see right there. And so, you can use that screw to get this grounded to a suitable location, such as your Kona's frame or cross member. You just wanna make sure that the surface is clean and rust free. Now, next, it's a good idea to mount the converter box to a safe, out-of-the-way location. You can do that a number of different ways. You can use another mounting screw that you might have on hand and run it through the top hole here of the box, or with the included double-sided adhesive tape, or maybe with one of the many cable ties that's included with the kit. Next, you will need to run the hot lead to your Kona's battery. That's this short black wire coming out of the converter box. This short black wire gets connected to one end of this included bundle of black wire using one of the butt connectors that's included with this kit. And then the other end of this bundle is going to get routed to your Kona's battery. And once you have this routed to the battery, you're going to take this fuse holder and connect one of the wires of this fuse holder with the second butt connector to the routed wire. And then the other half of this fuse holder, we'll get a ring terminal attached to it, and that is included with this kit. And then that ring terminal is going to connect to the positive post of your Kona's battery. It does come with the 10 amp fuse, and that's gonna go into the fuse holder. And then you'll just close the cap to protect that fuse. Now, you can secure any slack that you might have in your wiring with the cable ties that are included. I've already mentioned these cable ties earlier, so you got quite a few that's connected, quite a few that's included rather, in this kit. And then once installation is complete, this four-way connector can be stowed in and out-of-the-way location within your cargo area. Or you could mount this right there by your trailer hitch receiver on the back of your vehicle. And we do have bracket options available here at etrailer.com that you can pick up to secure this plug outside of your vehicle near your trailer hitch receiver. Now, the maximum amperage for the stop turn lights is three amps per circuit and for the tail lights, it's six amps per circuit. Instructions are included to guide you through the installation process, and it is also recommended that you pick up some dielectric grease and use a small amount of that dielectric grease on all of your electrical connections like the plugs on your vehicle, or the four-pole flat connector itself. This dielectric grease is designed to help prevent electrical failures caused by corrosion and moisture. And so, if you would like to take a look at that grease on your screen, I am including our item number. You can just take that item number, put it in the search field of our website, that will take you to the grease, and you can add that to your order. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

Very fast delivery.
I couldn't go 5 stars, but it's not the product's fault. There was MUCH more disassembly of the vehicle than I've experienced on my last 3 cars. Usually, you just remove the tail lights and plug the T connectors in. Run the power wire and Bob's your uncle. But on this car I had to open the left side panel in the cargo area, then open the side of the car where the bumper trim wraps around. I strongly recommend watching a video before attempting this. The instructions are too generic and don't follow clearly what's on the vehicle. But it's still 1000% better than splicing wires.
Nice product, the instructions should Tell you to install the wiring before the receiver because the receiver is in the way of the wiring, other than that great products.
