Rear Suspension Support

Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause rear sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

Just installed the Sumosprings on my 2022 Tacoma, easy install, took about a hour.Truck rides the same with no load on it and will see how it does next time I tow the trailer.Shipping was fast and well packed.

The Blue Sumosprings work great when towing my 3000lb trailer for sag and sway control

by:

These are great when they are fully loaded. I bought them to help when towing my boat and they work great for that. Unfotunately though when they are not loaded they're like a rock and my Tacoma TRD Offroad rides like its bottoming out at every little bump because they are much taller than the standard bumper. It feels like a rock when you come down onto them. I was hoping that the lighter weight version would not do that.

by:
ToyotaTacoma

very simple install completed with basic tools in my driveway in les than an hour. These have done a great job leveling my Tacoma with a camper loaded or heavy loads. I have not towed with these installed yet but would expect great results and prevent rear sag

by:
2016 ToyotaTacoma

Installed and the rear axel of a 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road, no suspension lifts and stock tires and rims.

My Application: I regularly tow a tandem axel 16 foot cargo trailer on the weekends. The trailer stores and transports 3 dirt bikes and gear. It weighs about 3700 to 4000 lbs. I do occasional home projects as well where I'm hauling lumber, stone, (Typical truck stuff).

The cargo trailer was really causing my truck to squat more than I like. I'm well within the tow rating of the truck, but handling at highway speeds was not great. I ordered the lower capacity Sumo Springs as I didn't want to make the truck ride really stiff and bouncy. Installation of these was not bad. I do recommend re-torquing them after use as called for in the directions, mine needed it. They really helped address the squat problem when the trailer is connected. I was surprised how much they also reduced the sway when towing the trailer. The ride is stiffer, but not too much. I'm very happy and would recommend to a friend, and would purchase again.

by:

Just finished changing out the old and putting these on my stock 2017 SR5. Took this old man probably 20 to 30 minutes to complete. Test drive feels like a totally different truck. The Tacoma sag is gone and actually feels like it raised the back end. Wife approved!!

2019ToyotaTacoma

I have an ARE Overland camper shell on my 2019 Toyota Tacoma. Installed these to help with the over all ride especially over hard bumps. Sounded like I was hitting the bump stops hard. Installed and ride did improve for the back. Also less body roll. P.s. George J is the best! Always on it when it comes to getting parts out!.

by:
ToyotaTacoma

I put these on my 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport, primarily enhance the ride while pulling my 21 foot travel trailer. I can tell you they absolutely did that. The ride seemed a lot more confident, shut down any degree of porpoising, and felt sure on any turns. The ride also felt more rail-like at a higher velocity.

When not pulling a trailer, they eliminate any sense of roll, but on a Sport trim it really wasn't a concern. The only downside is the rather unforgiving jolt you you'll feel when you go over something like a speed bump. If you have anything in the bed of your truck while doing so, it will achieve a fair degree of vertical lift. Just make sure you're wearing your seatbelt and have your coffee well covered.

All in all I'm happy with these as an alternative to finicky airbags. And they were very easy to install, literally 20 minutes for an codger like me. Just set em and forget em.

2016 Nissan Frontier

We installed the SumoSprings SSR-612-40and replace the OEM shocks with the Rancho RS9000 XL on a 2016 Nissan Frontier. When pulling a trailer (KZ Sportsmen Classic 160QB)the back of the truck sag only 1 1/4".I have used Sumosprings in the past and with great results.

by:
ToyotaTacoma

I often pull my 3800lb boat with me 2021 Tacoma, I needed some extra help with the bouncing and sway control, these Sumo Springs are the best thing I could have done, it handles like a completely different truck now. 100% satisfied.

by:
Nissan Frontier

We put SumoSprings (blue) shocks on our ‘21 Frontier to pull our Casita camper. What a world of difference it made for the better. The ride is smoother and we seem to have a better control of the camper being pulled. We love them. etrailer is THE place to get these.

by:
Nissan Frontier

The sumo springs are awesome!! I have them installed on my Nissan Frontier and tow a small RV... The ride is perfect, rear leaf springs do not sag as much.. Great quality product!!

by:
2017 Nissan Frontier

Installation on my Nissan Frontier was a breeze. My trailer has 4-500 lbs. of tongue weight, and these springs do a good job of reducing squat and sway. I would buy them again. The only reason for 4 stars is that when unloaded you only get about 3/4" travel before these springs kick-in. In the winter (cold temps) they are hard as a rock, and hitting even a smaller bump can be a real kidney-puncher. Almost as bad as a 1 ton truck. I wish there was an easy way to remove them for the winter when I rarely tow.

by:
2016 ToyotaTacoma

They work excellent with a heavy load in the bed and when towing my travel trailer but make the rear little harsh over bumps when not loaded. Not a deal breaker though, overall very happy with them. 2016 Tacoma SR.

by:
2021 ToyotaTacoma

Very easy and quick install. I was a little worried about the ride quality being affected, but there is no difference. The Sumosprings have helped the truck retain its ride hide while I have the bed loaded.

The Sumosprings have been working great! They were extremely helpful on a 2200 mile road trip this fall.

by:

Works. Makes the truck level without adding airbags, spring loaded shocks. Etc.

by:
Nissan Frontier

Put on Nissan Frontier. Works great. Little jolt when empty and you hit a bigger bump. Hold a pretty decent load in the bed without handling like a boat. I use airbags on my dodge, but I recommend these on the small trucks to guys from work. I hate mushy suspension in the rear and these were a simple and effective fix.

by:
2021 ToyotaTacoma

I added these in my Tacoma to help pull my 3200lb (dry weight)camper. These in conjunction with the WDH made the rear of the truck drop 1/4 of an inch. I haven’t noticed any change in the ride while I’m not loaded.

by:

Worked well for me, as I normally carry about 200 lbs of tools and miscellaneous items in the bed. Before installation, I had a small amount of extra "bounce" from the rear that went away after installation of the Sumos. I also do some occasional towing of a 6X10 trailer, and the ride and handling were improved by the Sumos.

by:

I was shopping for a set of Sumosprings for my truck. I got a great price and excellent service from etrailer. They kept me updated on the status of my order and the Sumosprings arrived in a very timely matter.

I highly recommend etrailer and will be doing business with them in the future.

THANKS

The Sumosprings are great on my Toyota Tacoma.

by:

excellent product prevents bottoming out and sway

by:

Going to let me use my hitch without the sag and drag look.

by:

Quick and easy to install.

by:

Super easy to install and they perform as advertised.

by:
2016 Nissan Frontier

So far a year later and 25k miles there still holding up and working well. You forget they are there until you hit that big bump or dip and realize there is still support and it’s not bottoming out. I hail around approx 600lbs in my 16 frontier pro 4x daily and it keeps it level and rides we’ll definitely recommend. Unless your really going heavy then air bags are needed instead.

Sumo Springs are one of the best investments you can make for your Tacoma or any lightweight pickup. They support your weight compliant trailer, travel trailer, and normal truck bed load much more safely. But best of all, your pickup will no longer sag down in the rear, which then allows the truck to evenly share the load you are hauling, and give you the safest, best handling, smoothest ride you can imagine, putting more of the load up front. Your tires will grip the road the way they are supposed to for a safe ride. No more dangerous swaying all over the road!!! Don’t forget to invest in a travel trailer sway bar hitch with your Sumo Springs. I’m a retired UPS driver. Almost daily I observed unsafe trailer setups with pickups and SUVS sagging down low in the rear; some nearly touching the pavement! Please. Think safety first. Truly enjoy your trailer, even your dump runs! Buy some Sumo Springs from etrailer. Check out the website at etrailer.com. I found it best to call them to pick the best set of Sumo Springs for your truck or SUV. Time to carry the load and hit the road safely with your rear mounted Sumo Springs from etrailer. Great prices too!!!

  • What Suspension Enhancement do You Recommend for Reducing Sag on My 2021 Toyota Tacoma?
You are definitely on the right track with the SumoSprings. For your 2021 Toyota Tacoma, I recommend using the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-612-47. The reason why is because this model of SumoSprings will provide your Tacoma with 1,800 pounds of load-leveling support compared to the 1,400 pounds of support of the # SSR-612-40. This load-leveling support will definitely help decrease the 1.5 inch sag. Also, the SumoSprings # SSR-612-47 provide progressive load...

  • Comparing Leaf Help Springs And Jounce Springs For A 2023 Toyota Tacoma 4WD
Jounce springs will sit on the frame and come into contact with the axle as the suspension compresses. Typically the vehicle manufacturer will place a rubber-type material here to prevent the harsh bump between these two components when heavily loaded or hitting rough terrain. These manufacturer jounce bumpers are usually pretty small and only get used when the vehicle is loaded down so upgrading to larger ones like SumoSprings will have them activate sooner and provide you with more load...

  • Recommended SumoSprings For 2016 Toyota Tacoma Carrying 1045lb Truck Bed Camper
I would be happy to help! Since you already have a 2000lb Hellwig helper leaf spring installed in your 2016 Toyota Tacoma I recommend going with the SumoSprings # SSR-612-40. These will give you an additional 1400lbs of load leveling support while carrying your 1045lb truck bed camper, and will not affect the unloaded ride of your truck so no need to worry about them being too stiff. I included a video of the # SSR-612-40 for you to take a look at.

For your 2019 Nissan Frontier SV 4x4 you will have two choices. Both of the kits are designed to mount with the Frontier's factory u-bolts. Do remember that these do not increase your payload or towing they only work to help assist the factory suspension and reduce sag. The first is their 1,800lb SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-612-47. Second is the 1,400lb SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-612-40. • Is Weight Distribution Needed With Suspension Enhancement on 2018 Toyota Tacoma?
Those are very good questions and let's start with the capacities of both systems. The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-612-40 has a 500 lb capacity and SumoSprings # SSR-612-47 has a 1,000 lb capacity, which means that is the highest amount of weight that the springs will actively still help your 2018 Toyota Tacoma's suspension. Anything over that and you won't see the benefits of the system. If 3,500 lbs is the max weight of your enclosed trailer when it is loaded then your...

  • SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs For a 2024 Nissan Frontier King Cab
You will want to select either the 1,400LB # SSR-612-40 or 1,800LB # SSR-612-47 SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for your 2024 Nissan Frontier King Cab. The only difference between these is the amount of capacity they are capable of supporting and the color of the part itself. If you are only occasionally hauling heavy loads the lighter option would work the best for you. These will have the least affect on the quality of your ride when unloaded as well.

  • Best SumoSprings For 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD For Towing & Load in Truck Bed
Hey Mike, thanks for the question and the best SumoSprings for your 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD for a combination of towing and a load in your truck bed are the 1,400 lb springs: - SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-612-40 The reason I like these over the 1,800 lb capacity # SSR-612-47 is because 1,400 lbs is more than enough to handle both the weight in your truck bed and the tongue weight of your trailer, and the 1,400 lb springs are also less dense, which means more cushioning...

For your 2022 Nissan Frontier the lightest duty SumoSprings kit that fits is the Solo part # SSR-612-40 which is rated for 1,400 lbs but I can assure you this would not give you a harsh ride quality like you are most likely worried about. This will be an excellent blend of support and ride quality that won't make the vehicle unpleasant to ride in.

The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-612-40 is 4" tall and 3" wide when uncompressed. These are designed to be held in place under the U-bolts of a spring over axle and will likely not attach to your 2020 Toyota Tacoma with a spring under axle. I do not see that they have kit for your Tacoma with a spring under axle. If you can send me photos with measurements of your axle to frame I can check with SuperSprings to see if they have a different kit that may work with your Tacoma.
