Question:

Wanting to put this window into the side of a cargo trailer. The wall thickness is 1 3/8, will this window work. Also, does the window go up to a 90 degree angle and stay when open?

Hi Heather!

It's possible to get the Van Windows Direct Overlander Awning Van Bunk Window - 36-1/2" X 16" # VW55FR, but these are designed for vans and can really only fit up to a 1-1/8" thick wall. However, that does not mean you can't customize the install.

So there are really two options, you can cut down the wall to 1-1/8", or you can use longer hardware and possible make some kind of frame that would keep it in place (might not be needed, but these are untested waters at this point). If it were me, I would cut the wall down to 1-1/8" so you stay within the specs of the window. It really shouldn't be too much work to get done, but you might need a router to accomplish the feat. I think think it's the way to go.

As to your second question, it will get close to 90 degrees, but not all the way. I don't have a way to measure the actual angle, but I did include an image of the window open all the way for you to check out. It will also lock in place when you open it. To unlock it, you push it up to the 90 degree mark and it disengages said locks to allow it to close.

Are you converting your cargo trailer to a camping trailer, or are you just wanting to add windows for general air flow?
