Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

Saris Bones 3 Bike Carrier

The sleek and sturdy Bones lets you carry 3 bikes on the back of your sedan, hatchback, or van. It has arched dual arms that keep your bikes separated and an adjustable base. 6 Nylon anchor straps let you quickly remove it from your vehicle and store it in your trunk or garage.

Individually Adjustable Arched Arms

Saris Bones 3 Bike Carrier with adjustable arms

The Bones has dual injection-molded plastic arms that provide excellent support for your bikes. The adjustable arms accommodate women's, children's, and alternative frame bikes and keep them level on the rack. The arms are arched to allow your bikes to hang at different heights for optimal ground clearance and to prevent your handlebars and pedals from tangling.

Saris Bones 3 Bike Carrier with adjustable arms close up

The adjustable arms are mounted on a horizontal tube with grooves that allow the arms or legs to lock in place. To raise or lower an arm simply slide it to the center of the horizontal tube where it's smooth, rotate arm to desired position, and slide it back along the grooves to the edge of the rack.

Saris Bones EX 3 Bike Carrier with adjustable arms folded down

You can fold the arms down when the rack is not in use. This lets you free up space to park in your garage without removing the rack from your vehicle.

Ratcheting Anti-Sway Cradles

Saris Bones 3 Bike Carrier with adjustable armsSaris Bones 3 Bike Carrier with straps

Rubber, anti-sway cradles with ratcheting straps firmly grip your bike's frame at 3 points, helping to prevent front-to-back sway. This minimizes bike-to-bike and bike-to-car contact during transit.

Easy Installation

Saris Bones 2 Bike Carrier

The rack is easy to set up on your trunk or hatch. First, use the black turn knob at the end of each support leg to loosen them from their positions on the center bar. Then, slide them from their place on the integrated grooves out to the smooth section of the bar. Adjust the legs to a position that will best fit your trunk. Then slide them back over the grooves to hold them in your desired position. Use the black turn knob to tighten them down.

Place the lower padded legs above your bumper and the upper padded legs on your upper trunk or hatch. These pads protect your paint and are slip-resistant to help prevent the rack from shifting during transit.

Saris Bones 3 Bike Carrier with adjustable arms

6 Extra-long nylon straps anchor the rack in place on your trunk or hatch with vinyl-coated steel hooks. They are vinyl-coated to prevent scratches and scuffs and are individually labeled to indicate where each hook should be placed for a proper install. Each strap has an easy-to-use ladder-lock buckle to tighten it in place.

WOW... Outstanding product, well-engineered, quality materials, easy to install, works as advertised, and a perfect fit to my 2016 KIA Forte5. Not cheap... but, you get what you pay for... can't imagine a better bike rack out there. Great bike rack!

So far I have driven about 400 miles using the Saris Bones 3 bike rack on our Honda CRV and it has worked very well. There were some reviews from people who had bad experiences but I think it is because they didn't purchase the hatch huggers for the upper straps as recommended. Also on the side straps the hooks need to go between the plastic molding and the metal of the lift back otherwise they don't seat all the way. We drove though so rough road construction and the straps didn't loosen a bit. I'm very happy with this rack.

Honda Accord

The Saris Bones-3 bike carrier is very solid and also configurable. It fit both my Subaru Forrester (mid-size SUV) and Honda Accord (sedan with trunk) well. Installation was pretty straightforward -- though read the clips to understand which goes where. The bike weight, in both cases, rested mostly on the rear bumper. I have used it for both 1 and 2 bikes, and found each incident of mounting the bikes went smoothly and that they were quite well secured. There appeared to be no swaying or bouncing of the bike mount, even on some pretty rough roads. You will want to have a strap to secure the front wheel of at least the first bicycle on the rack (not included with the Saris mount, I used the recommended Softride Velcro Tie-downs).

2011 Honda CR-V

Just installed my new SARUS Bones 3 bicycle carrier on my Honda CRV. I purchased it from www.etrailer.com - - - prompt UPS tracking delivery cross-country. It helped for installation to watch a brief YouTube video first.) All went quick and easy. High quality construction and intuitive design features. The carrier is snug, strong and SWEET looking! My mountain bike fit perfectly. I am ordering two “accessories” . . . wheel straps and a bike beam to properly secure my wife’s soon to be purchased new bike. HAPPY Trails ahead! (:-)

This rack is easy to attach to the car and is very stable! We’ve had it for a year and it seems pretty durable. The things that I don’t like about it is that it’s hard to load the bikes, and the way it’s set up it seems like it’s made for one particular size or style of bike. We have different size bikes and it’s tough to load them. Also, there’s no way we could fit three bikes on this rack even though it’s supposedly made to carry three. Would get a different rack if shopping again.

2018 Toyota Camry

This trunk bike rack was perfect for our 2018 Toyota Camry. It is well engineered and is sturdy. I had some questions about mounting it and etrailer was great about answering them, and was a big help to us before, during and after the purchase.

by:

I’ve owned this product for one year and it’s still going strong. Able to easily connect and disconnect to multiple cars including a Subaru Outback and VW hatchback with ease. It can take a few minutes to get the bikes on and off especially if you have smaller children bikes, adult bikes have no issues. Overall this product has been great.

by:

I just got it out of the box and the outside top arm appears to be stripped. The plastic bolt works in the other arms and those screws don't work in just that arm. I am hoping the manufacturer can fix it. It's not really that adjustable on the fly, but it appears to be solid. The bolts seem flimsy and easy to strip. I haven't been able to use it though due to being unable to secure that one arm.

2008 Honda CR-V

I love it! What an amazingly clever design. It feels solid on my Honda 2008 CRV and looks very smart. The materials are of excellent quality and well made. I feel very confident this happy purchase will carry my grandkids 3 mountain, bikes as designed safely with features easy for use. It was a breeze to attach to my vehicle and not heavy and awkward with my arthritic granny hands. Watching the video for my CRV helped install quickly. Questions with customer service were handled with courteous, friendly, helpful speed. It was a pleasure doing business with this most professional, responsive company. Sorry no photo. Will supply later if you still want?

This is an excellent bike rack. Easy to install on the car and easy to put up to 3 bikes on it. We've used it on both short and long trips in 2019.

We have used this a lot, and it performs well. Best thing is that it fits on my Honda CRV and my husband's Toyota Camry, so we can use either car for our bicycle excursions.

So far, so good. We've used it once and had no problems. Yet to use it with three bikes. Easy to install--instructions are clear. Very impressed with the customer service (especially shipping speed) of etrailer.com.

I just received the bike carrier and haven't had a chance to use it yet. Seems well made but I don't like the clips on the straps because they are not rubber coated. Can't wait to try it out

The Thule Passage 3 Bike Carrier part # TH911XT is not listed as a fit for a 2016 Toyota Highlander according to Thule but I do have an option for you that is, the Saris Bones 3 Bike Rack part # SA801BL is a confirmed fit for your Highlander.
