Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

This was my second hitch from E-Trailer. Once again, it showed up on time and fit perfectly.
MUCH beefier than the stock hitch that was only rated at 6000 lbs.
Installation took about 20 mins using a lift and air tools.

Great build quality, easy to install, MAJOR upgrade from the factory hitch, highly recommend!! Best price around!

Great hitch, went on without much trouble. Drilling the one hole with the tail pipe in the way was a little tricky. Tows great and does not bend down like the old rusty factory hitch. Will buy again from etrailer. Best price too.

No problems 10 times better than the factory one.

This hitch is a beast and will give you the confidence to tow big loads without worry. I installed this on my 2001 Yukon XL 2500 4wd and let me tell you, this thing dwarfs the stock hitch as shown in pic. Installation was quick and a one man job with the help of a floor jack. This hitch spreads the load over much more of your trucks frame making it a stronger and more stable towing platform. Only thing you need to plan on is remounting your electrical plug, since this hitch does not have accommodations like the factory one does.

2005 Chevrolet Suburban

I received this hitch quickly and installed it on the evening I received it. My vehicle is a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban LT 2500. The installation was easy, although this hitch is very heavy. It does require that you drill two 1/2 inch holes for the holes that are furthest forward towards the front of the vehicle. Overall, I am very happy with the installation process and expect that it will haul the weight of my trailers well. The attached image shows the hitch next to the factory hitch.

by:
2001 Chevrolet Suburban

My order and shipping were quick and as promised. The hitch installed perfectly. I really like how it captures more of the frame instead of just the tail end like the factory hitch. Thank you George J for your excellent service.

etrailer.com is Awesome with a capital A. I received my order much faster than I expected, and I was notified by an email that my trailer hitch had been delivered to my house. When I got home from work it was right there near the back door of my house. I brought the big heavy box inside and opened it to check if everything was there and was in good condition and it was. Great fast service and the best prices. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them and neither should you. Thanks etrailer.com Five stars all the way!!!!

The trailer hitch I purchased has been problem free as it should be. As I stated earlier, the price was right and the service was exceptional. Etrailer is my choice when I need anything trailer related and it should be yours too.

Hard part was getting the OEM hitch off--installation of the Draw-Tite was much faster. Definitely a better hitch and connects further forward on the frame.

Great hitch
Fastens to the frame rails
in several places on each side using factory holes. Simple to install.
I use this hitch on a GMC Yukon pull a heavy 26 foot boat. Over the years I have had many hitches and always buy Draw-tight hitches.

2005 Chevrolet Suburban

I upgraded the hitch on my '02 Suburban 2500 after reading some less-than-stellar stories about the OEM receiver - and seeing the rust that had formed on it.

I chose the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame receiver because of its high weight ratings - and the extra-long frame sections that give far more support than the OEM receiver.

That extra length means that there are two new holes that must be drilled - but DIY installation isn't particularly difficult for this hitch, and I'm very pleased with the results.

2005 Chevrolet Suburban

Much more beef than stock, install went very smooth. The extended side frames give the strength the Suburban was missing. Just wish the electrical bracket was made on frame and not sold separably.

Took long trip out west, towed mountains and Montana high winds the best my suburban ever has Worth the price and double the value in safety

2011 Chevrolet Suburban

Easy install. Replaced stock 3/4 ton 2001 Chevy Suburban hitch. Noticed significantly greater stability towing 11,000 pound toyhauler. Not sure if the stock hitch was flexing, but it had no obvious cracks. New hitch hangs down lower and the edges have dragged offroad a few timed, but it a tow vehicle not a jeep.

by:

If you own a 04 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 4x4 and want towing strength and peace of mind this is the hitch for you! I highly recommend , if you have a drill and some mechanical skills you won’t be disappointed!!

by:
Ford Five Hundred

great hitch the factory hitch was class two i dont hall anything under 7000 lbs tong weight on factory hitch is 500 lbs yours is double. bolts right up to old holes had to drill two in back no big deal well made hitch from you guys great instruction came with it shipping was fast price was worth every penny hitch also evens out the weight on the truck so it did not sag in the rear the truck like the factory one like that it does not bolt to bumper anything bolting to bumper is going to cause sag in my eyes great hitch thank you

by:

Awesome, tough hitch. Has three bolt holes on each side that attach to the frame. Two of the three marry up to two exiting bolts that had the factory hitch installed, the third you have to drill a hole for. Bolts are supplied. My bag of bolts/hardware had a rip in but nothing was missing. My existing, OEM factory installed hitch had to be replaced due to rust and the welds had cracks. I do a lot of trailering (boats, UTV/ATVs, etc). My vehicle is a 2002 Chevy Suburban, 1500 series, half-ton, 5.3L flexfuel, 4x4.

by:

The ordering was pretty much seamless and I was kept up to date with the shipping status. I would absolutely recommend etrailer for any trailer needs.

by:
2001 Chevrolet Suburban

Nice looking hitch that fits as it should. Replaced a class 3 weight distribution hitch with this one to handle a 11000 lb trailer.

by:

Solid hitch, but wasn't a simple bolt-on. Frame attachment required c clamp to pull in for bolting

working fine after installation issues

by:

etrailer has been a great trailer supplies vendor. The hitch we ordered was a replacement for an OE that rusted out and heavier duty than the original. Products have fantastic photos to go along with descriptions and always seem to be in stock. Keep up the good work.

by:

Good product. But mainly FAST service. I use my trucks for business and when one goes down I need parts quick.

by:
2004 Chevrolet Suburban

Great Product. Supplied everything that was needed to make the installation easy. The only thing that bothers me is that the sticker was crooked. Obviously, that doesn't effect the product at all. Super great all around.

by:

The hitch fit fine. It is very heavy duty. The coating/finish looks good and seems to be pretty tough. I would purchase it again.

by:
2002 GMC Yukon XL

Perfect fit. Great price. I had to drill 1 hole in the frame of my 02' GMC Yukon XL Denali since the prior hitch was only rated as a class 3 but that was no big deal.

by:

Outstanding customer service and very fast shipping! Will be ordering from etrailer again. Thanks!

  • Weight Distribution and Sway Controller Recommendation for a 2005 GMC Yukon XL Denali
Based on the excellent information you have given me, I estimate about 8,500 to 9,000 pounds total. What I want to focus on is all of the weight that will be behind the rear axle of the 2005 GMC Yukon Denali. So we can subtract 230 pounds for you, a 120 pound wife, 260 pounds of kids and dogs. The gear, water, gas I assume will be in the cargo area of the Yukon or on the trailer so that is still factored in. That puts the total behind the rear axle at about 8,000 pounds. Trailer tongue...

  • Bolt Hole Dimensions on Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2002 Chevrolet Suburban
The front to back bolt hole spacing on the Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver, part # 41930, is approximately 18-1/4 inches from the front hole to the center hole and around 20-3/4 inches from the front hole to rear hole. This hitch is confirmed to fit your 2002 Chevrolet Suburban. It's a custom designed product specifically for the 2001 to 2006 Suburban, 2006 to 2006 GMC Yukon XL, and the 2000 New Body Suburban that has amber turn signals.

  • Comparing Factory Class V Trailer Hitch to Draw-Tite # 41930 on 2001 Chevy Suburban z71 4x4
Without a weight distribution system, the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 41930 is rated much better, but when used with your weight distribution hitch the factory hitch is rated better. Since your factory hitch is rated so well and has no rust, and you already have a weight distribution system, you are good to go with your factory hitch. If you want more options for your hitch without weight distribution, then the Draw-Tite hitch would be a better option.

  • Towing Capacity of a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban 5.3L Engine with 3.73 Gears
According to the owner's manual for your 2003 Chevrolet Suburban with the 5.3L engine and 3.73 gear ratio, the towing capacity of the vehicle is 7,400 lbs if you have a 2WD or 7,100 lbs of you have a 4WD. In order to tow a trailer with your Suburban you will need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and ball mount/hitch ball. If you do not already have a trailer hitch then I recommend using the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 41930. The Ultra Frame is a custom fit and has...

  • Weight Distribution for a 2005 GMC Yukon XL 6.0L Towing a 7,900 Pound Trailer
The safe bet is to go by the gross trailer weight at 7,900 pounds. Ideally you would use weight distribution if the trailer is at least 50 percent of the gross vehicle weight and/or if when connected, the tongue weight causes the vehicle to squat. Ordinarily I would say that weight distribution is a good idea given the numbers. But if you are only going to tow it one time then weight distribution is a pretty big investment to use just the one time. But given the distance you are traveling...

  • Does Towing Capacity of 2005 GMC Yukon Increase If Air Bag Kit is Installed on Rear Axle
Adding a set of Air Lift rear-axle air springs # AL60769, or any other rear-axle suspension helper kit, to your 2005 GMC Yukon will not increase the vehicle's tow rating. That will remain at the capacity determined by GMC based on the specific complement of engine, transmission and differential. Whatever your owner's manual says remains the towing capacity even if a suspension helper kit is installed. If your concern is rear-end sag when the trailer is hitched then the best solution is...

  • Why Does the Trailer Hitch for a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Require a Factory Hitch
The only trailer hitch we offer for a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 that does not have a set of mounting holes that need to be attached to a factory rear bumper is the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 41930. However, it does attach to the factory bumper bracket so that will need to be in place in order for this or any custom fit trailer hitch to work for you. The forward most (towards rear) mounting hole is in the bumper bracket which is why it needs to have this to be...

  • Weight Distribution vs Suspension Enhancement to Level a Sagging 2004 Chevy Suburban when Towing
Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 41930 will have no problem handling the weight but you will need to check the Suburbans owners manual to determine what its capacities are and do not exceed them. The best way to level out a vehicle when it squats due to heavy tongue weight is weight distribution. You would not use both suspension enhancement and weight distribution at the same time because they can work against each other and you will not get any real benefit. Also, using suspension enhancement...

  • Comparison Of Trailer Hitches For 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

The Draw-Tite hitch, part # 41930 is a Class V hitch and it also has a 2-inch receiver opening. Both hitches have identical towing capacity and weight distribution capacity. • Will a Weight Distribution Hitch System Work With the AutoRide and Leveling System On 2008 Suburban
I have seen where vehicles that use air bags to level the ride height like you have on your 2005 Chevrolet Suburban lead to a less desirable ride quality when using a Weight Distribution Hitch # EQ37100ET. The weight distribution system would confuse the ride height which would lower the air pressure in the bags. This would lead to lots of bouncing as the air bags are not providing the additional support. It is common for those who frequently tow with their Suburban's to remove the air...

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2003 Chevy Suburban with Draw Tite Hitch 41930
The Draw Tite hitch part # 41930 does not come with trailer wiring so if your 2003 needs wiring you'd have to first start with a 4-way like the part # C59236 which is a fit for your vehicle. If you already have trailer wiring you wouldn't need to replace it to use this hitch. Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way. If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 instead of the # 37185 and...

  • Troubleshooting a Tow Vehicle that Sways Considerably Towing Boat Trailer
How is the tire pressure on your 2013 GMC Yukon XL? Is the suspension in good working order? If your vehicle and trailer suspension are both in good working order, your trailer is being towed level, and your trailer weighs less than the towing capacities of your tow vehicle you shouldn't be getting the sway you are describing. Especially if the trailer tows just fine with other tow vehicles. That leads me to believe that the problem is either tire or suspension related on your Yukon XL....
