Reduced axle sag with Timbren suspension enhancement

Just like the rear of your vehicle will sag under the weight of a fully loaded bed, the front of your vehicle will sag when under the burden of heavy equipment such as a snowplow. In this case, the front axle is handling not only the weight of the equipment, but also more of the vehicle's weight. Overall vehicle handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. But the resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with your factory suspension to keep your vehicle level and improve your driving experience.

Install diagrams of Timbren hollow rubber springs

The Timbren system comes with custom-fit brackets that are bolted onto each frame rail above your front axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down so that the bottom of each spring touches the axle. Because each spring is making constant contact with the axle, it is always working to cushion and support your factory suspension.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape increases resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping your vehicle level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's-side or passenger's-side of your vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when you're carrying off-center loads.

A snowplow mounted to the front of the truck will require extra suspension support for the front axle.

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System will help raise the front end of your vehicle when you're using heavy equipment like a snowplow. This ensures that your headlight beams will be pointed in the right direction and tire wear will be reduced. If the plow is off-center or has an extension, the springs will automatically compensate for this as well.

An empty truck on a bumpy road without Timbren

Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened because the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Compared to the Competition

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement Systems are much easier to install than air springs - there are no air hoses to run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments to make. The rubber construction makes Timbren's springs more elastic than similar products constructed of microcellular urethane. More elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride because the rubber has more travel.

Video Transcript for Timbren Vehicle Suspension - Front Axle Suspension Enhancement - TGMFK25S Review

Today we're going to review part number TGMFK25S. This is the Timbren Front Suspension Enhancement System. This is a custom fit part number, this is designed to fit the Chevrolet and GMC vehicles starting in 1996. What I would recommend since there's many vehicles it will fit on, I would recommend to go to our website and on the Use Our Fit guide and put your year and model vehicle and that will show you if this part will work for your application. This kit will improve your suspension and handling, prevents body roll with improved weight distribution. It does stabilize the vehicle for better handling of heavy loads. It does adjust progressively to road and the load so you always have a smooth comfortable ride and it does provide additional support as needed.

It does allow the spring ample movement while at the same time providing cushioning for light loads. It does increase the stability and gives you great performance while cornering, swerving or hauling large loads. This does take the brunt of the bumps in the rough loads and it does extend the life of your vehicle's suspension. You do have to make sure, though, it is designed to work with a suspension system that is in good working order and this system does not require any air hoses, compressors or manual adjustments. This part includes everything shown here on the table. It includes these two Aeon hollow rubber springs. It includes these specific brackets and the hardware for simple installation.

When you do install these, it comes with a nice set of instructions that are pretty detailed. These will replace the axle bump stops on your frame, there's no drilling required. The capacity on these is 14,000 pounds but you do need to remember you do not exceed the vehicle's weight carrying capacity. Again, as I mentioned earlier, these are designed to work with a suspension system that is in good working order. This does come with a limited lifetime warranty. That should do it for the review of part number TGMFK25S.

These are the Timbren Front Suspension Enhancement System. .

I am impressed with the timkens. Got a 2009 GMC 2500 hd and Western 8.5' v plow. Nose dive was an understatement before. However I put a 2" leveling kit and installed the timkens at the same time. One of them made my truck ride horrible. Probably the leveling kit from the torsion bars being turned in. I do notice tho that empty going over a jarring bump you can feel the timkens hitting hard. But with a plow on the truck it is the way to go. After this winter I'm gonna take them off and put stok back on for the summer. It's one bolt to replace them install was a piece of cake. 592401

I ordered timbrens for the front and rear of my chevy 2500. I have a 2000 lb truck camper and I wanted something to help carry the load a little better. I had no idea that my front bump stops had worn away to almost nothing until I installed these. They have worn well and performed well so far. 628835

this is the 3rd replacement of bump stops for my 99 chevy 3/4 HD 4x4. Two were OEM , and one an after market ( lasted a week ! ). I am impressed that the Timbren bump stops are well made and were a direct fit. The truck sits about an inch higher in the front end and best of all the ride is smoother . the truck also has new up graded shocks and the over all condition of the suspension is very sound. the shocks were installed prior to these new bump stops. I would give 5 stars however I am waiting this out to see what the Timbren bump stops are capable of in a year from know. my truck spends most of its time on road not off road . 254821

I had a problem with getting front sumo springs relative to the rear sumo springs I purchased earlier; however, the staff at etrailer were very helpful in getting me a suspension enhancement component made by timbren which I just installed. I believe the timbren supports are going to do the job I was looking for and make me just as happy as I am with the rear sumo springs. You will notice from the photos the supports make direct contact; however, the pictures were taken on a unlevel surface and when the truck is on a level surface the direct contact is equal on either side. Also, the timbren supports provide substantially more weight capacity in the event I choose to haul my scooter on the front end of the truck. Thanks again Derek S and etrailer staff I am very pleased with the service, customer relations and professionalism experienced when ordering my parts. Thank you, Bobby (Louisiana). 640223

Little bit rougher ride but worth it in Plow holding capability when traveling. It's nice to not have the front end squatting so much. Excellent product will definitely be purchasing again when I get a new truck. 592581

Installed this on my 2005 Silverado 2500HD with the 8.1l engine. Easy 1.5 hour install with hand tools. Raised front of truck about 1" with constant contact with rubber. I'm installing a Boss V Snow Plow and a Truck bed Camper ( for Summer) and needed the extra weight capacity without the suspension sag. Ride quality degraded some, but is not objectionable. Ride is OK for a truck. This is a better solution than changing to stiffer torsion bars or cranking up the stock bars for my application. 589250

Highly recommend spending the money. My last pickup I bought Sumo Spring rubber stops and they seemed squishy to me, where these are hard and hold up very well. Holds my Boss V-XT 8'2" up where it needs to be. Don't go cheap! You'll regret it! 319272

My 03' Chevy Silverado really benefited from the installation of the Timbren bushings. Shipping was fast the instructions from E-trailer were very helpful and made it easy to DIY. The front end of the truck seemed to be sagging especially when the plow was raised even with 600 lbs of ballast. The front end was raised up about 3/4" after the install and the ride quality is greatly improved overall. I cannot hardly wait to try them with the plow. I would highly recommend Timbren bushings to anybody with a higher mileage vehicle like mine 160,000. 302726

Timbren SES heavy duty jounce bumpers dramatically improved the ride of my Chevy 2500HD and it drops only a very small amount when I hoist the plow. Less than 1/2" dropbin ride height with the plow raised. Yet the riee is not harsh. Excellent product, wish I knew about it years ago. 165956

Review from a similar Timbren Aeon Spring System in Vehicle Suspension

I am dealing with Timbren. The washer for mounting the rubber spring to the mounting plate clearance hole is too small for the bolt diameter. The washer is not something you can get out without damaging in my opinion. The bolt also will not thread completely into the mounting plate because of poor threads ( not tapped correctly). Galling of bolt if you try to tighten. Very poor QC or inspection at Timbren or wherever. Once again, working eith Timbren on this. Maybe you should check you kits at etrailer!! 704185

Comments

I pulled the kits we have in stock and they check out fine. The washer inside the spring had the same diameter as the spring for the bolt. Could you send in a photo of your kit?

Makes a huge difference in carrying heavy loads. I could tell an immediate difference when I had a full bed, gooseneck load, or a bumper pull load. Highly recommended. I considered air suspension, but did not want to tackle that installation. Literally can install this with a torque wrench and impact wrench. 725228

The Timbron's did not work as well as i had hoped. Though it did improve the ride-- i opted to install air bags. I am towing a large 5th wheel trailer. Smaller loads would probably work fine. 413042

Review from a similar Timbren Aeon Spring System in Vehicle Suspension

We just took our first trp (towing) with the "Timbrens", today. Our Travel Trailer is about 8,000 lbs so I'm sure that they engaged fully. They have smoothed out the ride considerably and there is a definite lowering of the front end of the truck. I noticed that when just my wife and I ride in the truck, there is no noticeable difference; as they are not engaged. Add 2 more people in the back and now the ride gets a whole lot stiffer, as they probably engage even with this "little" extra weight. It appears that the real gain is when I add a full load of the trailer, extra fuel and other things packed into the bed of the truck. I believe that we made the right decision having these put in, in place of the OEM rubbers. It was a good decision. I recommend them highly if you're going to tow something heavy. 523578

After a 3000 mile trip with a 42' fifth wheel on a 2016 Chevrolet single rear wheel short bed 3500HD, I will say they made a difference. They took some of the bounce and the side to side rocking out of the truck. I would definitely put them on my next truck as well. 667565

Product was purchased based on mechanics recommendation for a friends F250 being used to tow a thirty foot gooseneck 3 horse trailer with living quarters. Post installation performance was all we hoped for. Service from etrailer, before and after the sale, is what every mail order company should strive to achieve. I will not hesitate to utilize etrailer in the future. They are flagged in my favorites. 324435

TOTALLY AWESOME PRODUCT.....Though I wished I had them when we trailered the hot rod out to New Hampshire last month. We received this item late as it was on back order for far too long. I did get a chance though to put the levelers through their paces when using our 18' lo-boy to haul large limbs, branches and other brush to compost site. The truck did NOT flinch and inch downward as it did WITHOUT the levelers. I liked too that the installation was basically pretty easy. I highly suggest going this way and leaving the air bags for the big truckers. Don't have to fuss with filling or deflating bags or dealing with leaky bags. This is a presto zippo installation and you can play "immediately". 550307

Comments

I couldnt be more happier with this product. Truck is still remaining relatively level, even with the hot rod in the enclosed trailer. Hot rod weighs in at 2200 pounds and nary a between truck and trailer. As in my earlier review, I HIGHLY recommend this product over air bags...so much LESS hassle .

Review from a similar Timbren Aeon Spring System in Vehicle Suspension

I first put the Timbrens on the rear to help stop bouncing and porpoising on highways and bridge ends when towing. The rears have a gap and do not touch the springs until the truck is loaded, working great and keeping a smooth unloaded ride. The front Timbrens fit snugly and touch all the time. The ride is firm and a bit harsh with my unloaded truck having a snow plow spring option. When my trailer 30 ft trailer is hooked up, the front of the truck is slightly lighter. Towing with the Timbrens is nice and the bounce and rebound porpoising is very controlled. I would like the front Timbrens to be a little softer when the truck is unloaded, but I think these units are a nice add-on for better control, safety, and preventing damages. I had the fronts installed at the shop when rotating tires and a front end alignment. The rears installed easily. 691475

I purchased a used pickup without any jounce bumpers. I ordered these to provide more support rather than going back with stock ones. I pull a 5th wheel and these keep the truck level with less bouncing around and bottoming out when towing. When I'm not towing they sit about an inch or inch and a half about the stops so they do not negatively impact the ride quality. They work as advertised and I'm pleased with them. 653123

I put the Timbrens on a 1997 k2500 I haul 2 mobility scooters and travel trailer. With just the scooters and no Timbrens the truck set down about 3/4-1 inch so I installed mine with the 1/2 inch space left. With just scooters it rides firm but not harsh if on dirt road or hitting a hole you will know it with trailer attached it rides great no more rear end of truck bouncing up and down when going over a bridge. Also helps on truck lean when going in curves has been a great product for me 513079

Purchased for Lexus GX460. Solves rear sag problem when towing with medium to heavy trailers. I don’t notice any difference in the ride when not towing a trailer with the helper springs. Fairly simple to install. Did not have to Jack up my 18 f150, but would have probably made it easier. Install was pretty straight forward bolt on operation. I Haven't pulled my 28 ft camper yet. The bump stops I removed were 1/3 the size of the new ones. They should work real well. No noticeable ride difference with no load. Thanks. 641299

It's the lighter duty of the two kits but the heavier duty part # TGMFK25S but it's going to provide a very stiff ride. The # TGMRTT35S still provides the 8,600 lbs of support which will work great. The HD is really needed only in very extreme situations like tow trucks.

  • Rubber Jounce Spring Suspension Kit for 2006 Chevrolet 3500 2WD Flat Bed Work Truck
  • If you want a suspension helper spring kit that avoids the complication of air springs, then I suggest a rubber jounce spring kit from Timbren. We offer both front- and rear-axle kits for your 2006 Silverado 3500 2WD flat bed work truck. The rear axle kit I recommend is the Timbren # TGMRTT35C which is intended for heavy-duty vehicles. This is a bolt-on kit that requires no drilling. If you want a front-axle kit I suggest Timbren # TGMFK25S, also a no-drill install. The linked article...

  • Front Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2006 GMC Sierra 3500
  • The Timbren kit part # TGMFK25S that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 2006 GMC Sierra 3500 but it's for severe duty applications so for you it would be very harsh. It would give you the support you want but at the cost of a very harsh ride quality. A better option would be the Air Lift AirCell part # AL52212 which gives you the support you would need but isn't as stiff so it wouldn't be nearly as harsh riding. This spring is 3.15 inches tall. There is also a small wedge as...

It will install in place of the bump stops on the vehicle. They are designed to work with a suspension system that is in good working order. They are not designed to be used as the main suspension system on your vehicle. It works by being installed on the vehicles frame rail one inch above the rear axle. The one inch clearance...

This system cannot be defeated and aftermarket air springs like the Firestone Ride-Rite cannot be installed on the vehicle according to my contact at Firestone. However, you can install a set of rubber jounce spring such as the Timbren front-axle kit # TGMFK25S and rear-axle kit # TGMRSB4S....

  • Yes, there is a 12 volt power source on the 7-way that is on your 2011 Ford F-53 RV. It will be on the 11:00 position of the connector as you look at the front of it. Check out the picture I attached that has a picture with all of the terminals of a 7-way labeled with their functions. You might want to test for voltage on this circuit with a Circuit Tester # 3808 as well just to be sure. I also attached an FAQ article on trailer wiring that you might find informative.

  • Recommended Front Suspension Enhancement for 2007 Chevy 2500 with Snow Plow
  • For your heavy snowplow, I recommend the Timbren Front Suspension Enhancement System # TGMFK25S over the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Front Axle # SSF-201-47. The Timbren Aeon Rubber springs are simply rated for weights 7x larger and they work in the same way as the helper springs, yet offer more support on the front end, so that first inch gets more support and you don't feel the drop when raising your snow blade.

  • Rear-End Sag in 2004 Silverado 2500 4X4 Crewcab With Weight Distribution System Installed
  • The best way to fix rear-end sag when towing your 7500-lb trailer with your truck is to use a weight distribution (WD) system. Rear axle suspension helper kits, such as Timbren jounce springs or air bag kits, are better for times when you are carrying a heavy cargo load in the truck bed. These will not give you the same benefits as a properly-tuned WD system when towing a trailer. In fact, if jounce springs or air bags are used along with WD, then they can sometimes interfere with each...

You'd remove existing bump stops, and use the hardware and existing holes to instal the rubber Aeon spring. I'll link you to the installation instructions.
