Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2013 Hyundai Accent - Curt

Today, on our 2013 Hyundai Accent, we'll be installing the Curt hitch, part number C11250. This is what our hitch will look like once it's installed. Next, we'll go ahead and give you a couple measurements to assist you selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is four inches. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground is ten and a half inches. This will assist you selecting accessories such as a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. Now, we'll go ahead with the installation. Now, to begin our install, we'll first remove the rubber plugs from the frame rails, one on each side. We'll go ahead and set the plugs aside, as they will not be reinstalled; noting that these will be two of the four attachment points. The third attachment point will be the tow hook and our fourth attachment point will be on the driver's side frame rail, forward of the frame from the previous attachment point.

This attachment point will have to be drilled out. To locate the position of this attachment point, we'll need to put our hitch in place. It's a good idea to get next to the hands to help you hold the hitch while you use the hitch as a template to mark this position. With the attachment point marked, we'll go ahead and take the hitch back down and out and drill out our hole. To drill out the hole, we're going to use a step bit process, starting with a smaller pilot bit and working our way up to the final size, as per the instructions. Now, with out hole drilled out, we're ready to start installing the hardware. We'll start with the forward attachment point on the driver's side. Taking out 1 1/4 inch 7/16ths carriage bolt, block and 7/16ths pole wire, we'll take the pole wire and feed it through the attachment point and out the rear attachment point, which will also be the access hole.

There, we'll slide on the block and thread on the carriage bolt. We'll feed the block into the frame first, followed by the carriage bolt, and pull them into position through the forward attachment hole we just drilled out. Now, we'll go ahead and remove the bolt leader. Next, we'll install the rear attachment point for the driver's side. To do this, we'll use the reverse pull method. Once again, we'll use the 1 1/4 inch 7/16ths carriage bolt and block. We'll feed the block onto the bolt leader first and then thread on the carriage bolt. We'll take the carriage bolt, feed it into the frame first, through the attachment point, followed by the block.

Then, we'll pull them back over the access hole, creating our attachment point. We'll leave the bolt leader on as it will assist with help in getting our hitch up into position without pushing our hardware back up into the frame. Now, we'll move over to the passenger's side and repeat the same process for our attachment point in the frame there. For the passenger's side, we'll use the 1 1/2 inch 7/16ths carriage bolt, block and 7/16ths flange nut. We'll use the reverse pull method to get our hardware into the frame. Now, with all the frame hardware in place, we're ready to put our hitch in position. Take the bolt leader and feed it through the attachment point for each side.

We'll go ahead and install the flange nut on the forward attachment point. Now, we're ready to install the hardware for our tow hook. We'll use the 3/8ths bolt, flat washer, block, and flange nut. We'll take the flat washer and put it onto the bolt, followed by the block. We'll feed the bolt through the tow hook and through the attachment point of the hitch. Screw the bolt into the flange nut to secure it. Now, with all our hardware in place, we'll go ahead and tighten it down. Next, we'll torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. Once we have our hitch secured and torqued to specifications, we're ready to hit the road. That does it for the install of our Curt hitch, part number C11250 on our 2013 Hyundai Accent. .

My wife has recently started riding her bicycle after work and the only way to transport it was in the big truck. It was OK but the gas cost alone, not to mention she enjoys her car much more, brought us to the idea of a hitch and bike rack for the car. I ordered the hitch and rack and it delivered when promised. Installation turned into a bit of a head scratcher with the fish wires to put the bolts and plates in the frame until I went to the videos on I definitely recommend you view the videos before starting the install. We are very happy with this purchase and very happy with the service provided by 677719

Hehe! The ONLY thing better than the hitch was the service to get it/get it to me! These guys have bailed me out more than once and they are the cheese!!! (when you get your hitch make sure and count the bolts as they are prone to short ya one - NOT etrailer's fault,.... !) 490468

Hitch fits perfectly. Works great. The only suggestion would be to have a third fishwire to help guide the bolt when fitting the hitch into place, or better yet, get a second pair of hands! 470262

Ask the Experts about this Curt Trailer Hitch

Do you have a question about this Trailer Hitch?

  • Curt Trailer Hitch Compatible with a 2015 or 2016 Kia Rio
  • Yes, the Curt # C11250 will fit both a 2015 and a 2016 Kia Rio Sedan. I have attached an installation video for a 2013 Hyundai Accent for this same trailer hitch that you can use as a reference. For a complete towing setup you will also need a ball mount kit and wiring. A popular ball mount option is the Curt Euro Style Drawbar # C45572 which you can secure in your hitch receiver with the pin and clip # F-4. Then for wiring I recommend going with the Tekonsha T-One # 118570. FTo install...

  • Hitch Recommendation for 2012 Hyundai Accent Hatchback SE
  • The Hidden Hitch part # 60301 and the Draw Tite part # 24884 are the exact same hitch as they are made by the same parent company that bought out both brands. The Curt hitch part # C11250 is made by a different company so it is slightly different. But it's not the hitch I would recommend as it has a stabilizer strap requirement when carrying a non-supported load like a bike rack so the best option we have is the Draw Tite part # 24884 as the Hidden Hitch is actually getting phased out.

  • What Hitch Will Fit a 2013 Kia Rio 4 Door Sedan
  • We have a couple of hitches that will fit your 2013 Kia Rio 4 Door Sedan. Of theses hitches, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class I Sport Frame Hitch # 24884. The Draw-Tite hitch has a 200 lbs tongue weight capacity and includes a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. This hitch will bolt to the frame of your Kia with no drilling required with an average install time of around thirty minuets. I like this hitch over the Curt Class I Hitch, # C11250, for two reasons. The Draw-Tite hitch is a little...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2016 Kia Rio
  • The Curt hitch part # C11250 would be the correct hitch for your 2016 Kia Rio if it is a sedan. If it is a hatchback you would then need the part # C11262 instead.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Towing Accessories for 2013 Hyundai Accent
  • The Draw-Tite Class I hitch, part # 24884 and the Curt Class I, part # C11250 share the same weight bearing capacity and installation procedure. The overall design is similar, but as you mentioned, the Curt uses round tubing for the crossbar of the hitch while the Draw-Tite uses square tubing. As far as the tubing goes, some folks find the round tube to be more visually attractive, but as far as strength and function goes, neither has an advantage. Both companies are reputable and make...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Hyundai Accent
  • The Curt Hitch part # C11250 that you referenced is a Class I hitch which means it can only carry up to 2 bikes at a time. Any more than that and you will end up putting an undue amount of stress on the hitch/vehicle attachment points. Since Curt require you use a stabilizer strap when carrying a bike rack and Draw Tite does not I would recommend the # 24884 for your 2015 Hyundai Accent instead. The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Thule...

  • Trailer Hitch and Trailer Wiring Recommendations for a 2012 Hyundai Accent 5-Door Hatchback
  • We do have some trailer hitches that will fit the 2012 Hyundai Accent 5-Door Hatchback, including # C11250. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. The hitch comes with the correct ball mount, pin, and clip. If you plan on doing some towing, you can use 1-7/8 inch diameter ball # 19256 or 2 inch ball # 19258. For wiring, use # C56175. I have included a link to the installation details for the wiring as well.

  • We offer two light-duty Class I hitches for your 2012 Kia Rio SX Sedan that are shown on the linked page, Draw-Tite # 24884 and Curt # C11250. These share identical capacities of 200-lbs tongue weight (TW) and 2000-lbs towing weight. Note that your vehicle itself may be rated differently so consult your printed manual.
