The JackRabbit retractable hard tonneau cover protects your cargo and truck bed from the elements. Its durable ArmorTek construction consists of a vinyl fabric top sheet that is bonded to rigid aluminum panels, combining the seamless appearance of a soft tonneau with the security features of a hard tonneau. The stylish cover locks at any point along the rails, and it retracts easily with the turn of a handle.

Retractable Cover with Built-In Pull Strap

Handle on key latch opens cover

The original JackRabbit retracts with the turn of a handle. The handle - located on the key latch at the tailgate end of the cover - activates a heavy-duty tension spring. This spring automatically retracts the cover into the canister at the bulkhead of your truck bed. A built-in pull strap helps you extend the cover over your bed. As you pull, the tonneau will engage the side rails at 12" intervals. You can stop the cover at these designated intervals or you can use the key latch to lock the cover at any point along the side rails.

Hauling flexibility for partial loads

This feature enables you to carry tall or long items that overlap your tailgate while still covering cargo, such as a toolbox, stored closer to the bulkhead of the truck.

A hook-and-loop fastener strip is included to secure the pull strap up and off of your bed floor. You can also use the rear plate of the tonneau cover to pull it closed.

Angled Canister

Angled Canister

The cover retracts into a compact, angled canister located at the front of your truck bed. This canister protects the retracted cover from the elements, and with the cover stored in the canister you'll have unrestricted visibility out of your rear window. The angled design of the canister also allows for maximum clearance for your tools and cargo so there is no need to remove the cover to haul cargo.

Water Management System

The JackRabbit rails feature a water management system that channels excess water into the canister. This prevents water from getting into your bed or freezing in your tonneau cover rails during cold temperatures. Drain tubes attached to the bottom of the canister remove water through the OE drain holes in the floor of your truck bed.

Flush-Mount Design

Low profile tonneau cover

The black powder coated side rails mount level with your truck bed rails for a flush appearance. This flush-mount design is aerodynamic to reduce wind drag, and it helps to improve gas mileage when the cover is closed.

Cover allows for fifth wheel towing

Even with the flush-mount design, the cover fits over most fifth-wheel trailer hitches. Note: The highest point of the fifth-wheel hitch must be at least 2" below the bed rails.

Stylish and Heavy-Duty Construction

Vinyl and aluminum construction

The JackRabbit deck is constructed of a vinyl top layer bonded to heavy-duty aluminum slats. This ArmorTek deck looks like a soft tonneau cover with no visible seams, but has the strength and security of a hard tonneau cover. Furthermore, the side rails and canister have a matte black finish that resemble bed caps to give your tonneau cover a more OE appearance. A large seal at the rear of the bed closes the gap between the cover and tailgate to create a barrier to prevent water from entering the truck bed.

Security

The JackRabbit provides excellent protection for your cargo when used in conjunction with a closed and locked tailgate. The heavy-gauge aluminum panels are better at preventing theft when compared with soft covers that can be cut or punctured with a knife. The panels are also more effective at preventing theft than tri-fold hard tonneau covers because the panels cannot be pried open at any point along the rails.

No-Drill Installation

To install the cover, set the canister in your truck bed and support it with a box or other sturdy object. Slide the cover side rails into the canister until they are fully seated in the rail grips while also threading the cover into the channels in the rails. Secure the rails to the canister with bolts and washers.

Secure the rails to your truck bed side rails using 2 clamps per side. Slide the clamp onto the rail, flip the pivot arm up so it is under the bed rail lip, and tighten the clamp in place. Shims are included for trucks with tapered beds.

Mount the top cover plate to the canister with the included hardware. Attach the drain tubes to the canister and route each tube out of the OEM drain holes in the floor of your bed.

To hold the pull strap off the floor of your truck bed, apply the adhesive hook-and-loop fastener strip onto the underside of a rail at your desired location.

Video Transcript for Pace Edwards JackRabbit Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover Spec Review

Hey everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be checking out the line of Pace Edwards JackRabbit tonneau covers. Today, we have it installed on a Silverado, but they're all gonna work the same regardless on what pickup truck you actually have. When it comes to picking out a tonneau cover for your truck, you know, there's a ton of different options out there. And with this particular style, I feel like it's a good general-purpose, middle-of-the-road cover, one you really can't go wrong with. And I say that for a few different reasons.

One of 'em being I think it looks really good, you know, being that it's flush mount, has a modern appearance to it. It's going to actually keep the items inside of your truck bed secure, being that it locks and has aluminum on the bottom side. And with how it fits and everything, it should do a pretty good job of keeping those contents dry. whenever you get inclement weather. As far as how it's gonna look on your truck, you know, it really don't get too much better and that's because this is a flush-mounted system, meaning that the rails that hold the tonneau cover when they're sitting on top of your bed rails, they're super flush and blend in really good.

They don't take up a whole lot of space at all. And these are available in two different colors. So we have the matte black finish, which I'm personally a fan of. It looks a little more modern, at least in my opinion, and it matches the plastic that's on top of a lot of bed rails pretty good. So it helps blend in, but it's also available in more of a gloss black-type finish too.

So you know, if that's your style, you can pick that one up. With that said, you have a vinyl top, right And it kind of puts off that classic tonneau cover look. Some people like it, some people don't. With this particular one, I think it looks good. The vinyls seems to be a pretty high quality, but if you're looking for something a little bit different, there's the same models of these, but completely aluminum.

So you always have that to look into as well. I feel like too with this hybrid style, being vinyl on the top and aluminum on the bottom makes it a little bit easier to operate, feels a little bit lighter, and that vinyl has more give and allows it to roll up a little bit better. But that's just something that I've noticed, not really a huge deal. Some of the things that I myself wondered and a lot of other people, being vinyl, you know, is this thing gonna be all faded and dull-looking after a couple years And I can actually speak from some personal experience. About 2 1/2 or 3 years ago, I got my brother-in-law one of these. Wasn't the JackRabbit, but it was a Pace Edwards very similar to this, and had this same hybrid deal going on with the aluminum and vinyl the top. And his truck's parked outside all the time, and he isn't the type of person to go over the top cleaning everything and maintenance thing and protecting everything. And I was pretty surprised actually. Even after that amount of time, the vinyl did not look bad at all. There's a little bit of fading kind of starting to happen, but I feel like if you went back with some type of product and applied it to the vinyl, it would probably restore it right back to life almost looking new. So if it we inchesre me and, you know, you end up going with something like this, probably it'd be a good habit to get into every now and again to find some sort of product to apply to this vinyl. That way, it'll hold up for a long time. If you do keep expensive tools or anything like that in the bed of your truck, this is gonna help with security, especially if you have a locking tailgate 'cause this has a lock on it and this is also how you operate the cover too. You will turn this, and that would unlatch it and let it roll forward. (lock clicks) But they give you a couple of keys and you lock that down, and then you're not able to turn this. So it would really make it, you know, much more of a challenge for someone to get in here and take your stuff. You know, not saying that this is bulletproof by any means or anything along those lines. I'm sure if you really want it in, you could, but probably not gonna be worthwhile to spend, you know, that amount of time and effort to get into the bed of the truck. Something that you do need to think about whenever you are picking out a tonneau cover is if you ever plan on using a ladder rack or some other type of rail system to hold tools or kayaks or whatever the case may be. And I say that because a lot of times with these style of tonneau covers, they're gonna cover up the stake pockets where you normally put that type of accessory, all right. But there is a solution. So if you ever think you might use something like that or you know you're going to, they make this same cover system that has slots in it. So you can use T-track style accessories and still be able to have the tonneau cover and a ladder rack at the same time. As far as how the cover is gonna work, pretty straightforward, when it's unlocked, you just turn the mechanism about 90 degrees, and that'll unlock it. And it rolls up on its own and it's pretty fast, actually, at least on our truck. I probably wouldn't feel super comfortable with just letting it go. So you can apply a little bit of tension to this strap, and if you put too much tension on it and pull it outward, that's when it's actually going to lock that cover in place here. So it'll roll all the way up to the front of the canister, giving you pretty much full bed access. You know, the canister is gonna take up a little bit of space in the front, but for what it is, it's pretty compact. So even on a short bed, you still got quite a bit of room in here to put items and whatnot. One of the things I do think is pretty cool though, when you go to close it, (tonneau cover clicks) every now and again, you'll hear a click and it'll lock into place. So you can cover the bed up a little bit, (tonneau cover clicks) a little bit more, so on and so forth. So if you have something that you wanna keep covered in there, but something that's taller back here, we kind of get the best of both worlds. As far as the quality of construction goes, feel like it's pretty good, you know. Like I said before, good middle-of-the-road option. All the metal parts are actually made from aluminum, so not gonna have to worry about rust issues and things like that. And for the vinyl covered part, I kind of spoke to that earlier from my personal experience with it. And the seals and everything, you know, so it's a pretty thick rubber seal here that when you close up the tailgate, it's going to push up against it (tailgate thuds) and help create a weatherproof seal. Now with tonneau cover like this on here, it should be water-resistant. You know, I'd be lying to you if I said this is gonna keep every drop of water out of the bed of your truck. This is not, it's not realistic. You know, if you were to go through a car wash or in heavy rains or something, you'll probably end up with a little bit of water inside, you know, if I'm being honest with you. But honestly from my experience, that's more or less gonna hold true across the board just about whatever tonneau cover you end up putting on your truck. With the canister portion here at the front of the truck, probably being the most vulnerable in terms of getting water inside. Or let's say if your cover was closed and you had some snow, light snow on it or it rained, whatever the case may be and you open it up, all that water's gonna go in the canister, right And what they did to help with that is on each corner of the canister, there's gonna be a drain. And so that drain tube goes outside of the truck in between the cab and the front of the bed. And so if any of that were to get accumulated in here, it'll drain out down to the ground and not just sit inside of the canister in the bed of your truck. If you've determined you want one of these more heavy-duty type covers, one of the hard covers like this, but you're not sure about, you know, the canister style or the other style, which flips up into a few different sections, there's a couple of things that you can take into consideration. One of 'em being how do you use your truck You know, a lot of people use fifth wheels and goosenecks and pull them around, and when you're doing that, you're gonna have to have full bed access, right So you'd have to have this rolled all the way up, or if you had one of the flip style ones, you'd have to flip that all the way forward. The thing is with those flip style ones, when you do that, a lot of times, they're gonna block the whole back window and you won't be able to see out. As to where the canister style ones, you're not gonna have to run into that issue. Same as is gonna hold true even if you have a taller load, you know, maybe you put a four-wheeler back here or something that requires you to have this completely open. With a canister, you can keep an eye on it, see what's going on behind you and whatnot. With the flip up ones, again, it's gonna block that back window and lose that visibility. Ultimately, at the end of the day, it seems like a lot of people are happy with this particular cover, and I can see why, you know. You get all the functionality out of it, a lot of the features that a lot of people are looking for, and it looks good too. So I can't really ask for too much more. But with that said, I think that'll finish up our look at of the Pace Edwards JackRabbit tonneau covers.

Great service from etrailer! Was backordered, they kept me updated well. When it came in, I was headed out of town so ONE call placed it on hold until I returned. It was queued up to ship when I returned, and that is exactly what happened. I missed the notes in reviews about the video, so I went with the paper. Did a little figuring-out and got it installed, but one side would not roll out. Cant see the mechanics of it in the cannister, so I called Pace-Edwards. They connected me with an engineer who correctly diagnosed the problem, sent the needed part, told me the procedure to effect the corrections, and it is now the best top I've had (and there have been many...). So, the shims that are on the clamps are on the clamps already installed on the rail, not the ones you install. And you need to be sure both sides of the mat are in front of the guide before you install the rails. If you read this review, the take-away is watch the video, heed the advice, and yes, the new tow-beast DOES fit in the garage. If only just...

Not as easily done by yourself but doable though. Took me about a hour. Looks great. Had questions about the bedcovers on top edge, to leave or remove. See pics. For some reason it was a little snug at backend of truck bed.

by:

Looks great. Protects items stored in the bed. Opens up to use fifth wheel hitch. Just what we needed. That's the positive side. It took a long time to get it. It was quite a bit of work to install it. But it does fit well and it appears to be excellent.

by:

I like it much better than my old Flip Pac. It seems about as sturdy as the Flip Pac as well, I anticipated it would be more rigid, but that was only my perception so I did not knock a star off. Very easy to use. The instructions need an update, it looks as though they are now doing a step during assembly. Would have been much easier to install with a second person, like stated in the instructions, but I did manage by myself. Realy like the look and fitment, haven't tested the water tightness yet.

by:

Looks alone, maybe 4 stars. The unit looks great on the truck... However, note when purchasing this unit has no weight rating for the surface of the cover. I purchased the unit in January 2024, installed it early March 2024. The unit failed miserable 6 days later. In Colorado we had a heave late March snow, did not clear 100% of the snow off the roof and the remaining snow fell onto the tonneau cover, removing it from the tracks near the roll unit. It was impossible to set the cover back on the track while covered and off the track. The only way to remove the cover was to cut the vinyl/aluminum cover off. Yes, a huge waste of money without the opportunity to contact the manufacturer but I needed the bed open at that time. So I had to cut the cover off completely and discard, luckily I still had the box it came in as it had only been 6 days since it was damaged. So at least i had options for discarding all my extra trash. If your looking for a roll top cover go with a retrax. This Pace Edwards cover was the absolute biggest POS I've ever seen.

by:

Excellent quality, almost flush with top of bed for fifth wheel clearance. Definitely recommend 2-person instillation.

by:

It work really well still looks great thank you

by:

I have a couple of issues. It rattles while driving and it leaks water along the tailgate.

by:

My cover is still working fine a year later. So nice to be able to pull it half way when I'm hooked to my 5th wheel...cover everything up front in the box!

by:

4 stars, good quality product and packaging. Installed by myself in 1 hour. Fit and finish are very high quality.

However...the drain hoses for the canister are both 3" too short to reach the drain holes in the bed. And even if they were long enough, the hoses are too big to fit through the drain holes. So now I have to bodge together some sort of clamped-on extension so the canister drains properly.

by:

Just received my q25 hitch, one end of the box was missing and the other was torn up pretty bad, the two side pieces are scratched up a little, I'll touch them up with some black paint, other than that it looks like it will work good.

by:

I love the cover it works great, I would recommend watching some YouTube videos on assembly, it was very helpful with tips. It took me a couple of hours to assemble, would recommend this cover to anyone.

by:

So far, so good. This top has met all my expectations. I initially looked for another “Roll & Lock” but they didn’t have one to fit box. Someties things things happen for a reason.

by:

After I got all the parts, read the instructions three times had my brother help this thing was a job to put on harder then I thought it would be. After a lengthy time we got on looks really good on my 2017 F250 Super Duty. Would buy this again.

by:

The Jack Rabbit is a great Tonneau cover. It looks great and the installation process is pretty straight forward. I like the fact that it is very low profile. It provides the security of a hard cover but is very easy to retract and get out of the way for hauling.

by:

Fits great. Follow the instructions. Took about an hour to install although this is the second one I’ve owned.

by:

Installation instructions need to be updated. They were unclear when installing the side rails to the cover and the side rails are not notched to allow installation of kickstand which caused me to have uninstall all parts and slide them on from the end of the side rails. If you have never installed a cover like this and are following the instructions, expect to back track a couple of times. Still waiting on a response for replacement roller guide part that came misassembled that is causing one side of the cover to retract further when fully open. I am sure once this part is replaced this product will function as intended. The quality of top is great for a soft top look with an aluminum support, I expected the aluminum support under the vinyl top to be thicker. Don't expect to sit or stand on this like some of the full aluminum retractable tops. Many of the roller parts that guide the top are plastic but the over quality is ok. I would not recommend this to someone that will be using it repeatedly during the day, but if it will get minimal use this product will be good.

by:

Easy install, works great, but leaks water by tail gate

by:

Just received the missing installation kit thank you so much hoping to install the unit sometime this week I’ll keep you informed on how I like it

by:

I should have followed the advice of using the box it came in to support it in the bed. I used a couple of coolers that were a couple of inches taller. That made aligning the rails with the canister just about impossible. After I switched to the box, it was relatively easy. The cover fits my 2019 F350 long bed fine, but the "kickstands" for the rear brackets don't really fit. Not enough room between side of the bed and rear brackets. I got them in there, but I may need to attach a small bracket for the kickstand pad to push against. It's suppose to push at a 90 degree angle or it slips off. We'll see.

by:

Installation was straightforward. Instructions are very clear. I had a friend help me which made it easier. The quality is great! Couldn't ask for more.

by:

Overall, it appears to be a quality tonneau cover. I previously had a Bak-flip on another truck but didn’t like the idea of it blocking my rear window when it was fully open. With the Jackrabbit, I can still tow my 5th wheel and see out the back window.

Installation started out fairly simple (as long as you watch a [online] video because the written instructions, in my opinion, are poorly worded and poorly displayed).

The only thing I see that is problematic is the rubber tailgate seal. It was accidentally pulled off 3 times during installation. So I know it’ll happen again by someone unknowingly grabbing it. That’s probably the only thing I would recommend they improve. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.

by:

Excited about my tonneau! Here's a pic. Love it, thanks much.

by:

works well with my 5th wheel hitch. The slide channel does need to be lubed on occasion to operate smoothly. Does keep bed contents protected (out of sight) when it is closed.

by:

This bed cover still looks and functions like new after having it on my truck for a year. Winter and summer weather has not faded the paint in any way. The ease of use and security this cover offers makes it a 5 star item.
